  • GanFet based audio amplifiers have become largely popular due to its performance in home audio. Some, like myself love tube pre-amplifiers but some don't want tubes, introducing the Java Carbon integrated amplifier with an unique LDR technology!

    Jay,
Of course you don’t want a linear volume control, you want a logarithmic one. ALWAYS. But that’s what he _meant_ to say. Because log pots _sound_ linear to our ears. Traditionally, LDRs are noisy, but maybe theirs is very special. Cheers!

I recently got a Java HiFi Single Shot Integrated Amplifier. It's the most beautiful piece of gear I have ever had in my room. The sound quality is top notch and I have had the AGD Audions (V2) in my system run using a Benchmark LA4 preamplifier. This integrated rocks!! The phono section is incredible. The DAC leaves something more to be desired but no complaints. It's an amazing product and I believe the cost is justified....to each his own I guess! Thanks @Jayiyagi for the review.

Not the integrated amplifier I have been waiting for but for those looking for GaN this would be worth considering from what you are saying
With the constant evolution of D/GaN I just will standby and observe for a while
At some point I expect the value proposition will get something on my radar
Right now now I like the technology from Technics for digital amplification

How does this possibly have the same inner workings as the separate preamp and amp when the designer just said that it has a “passive” preamp. I have a traditional integrated tube amp (meaning it has a passive pre)They can be great if you don’t need too much flexibility. But then, flexibility seems to be part of the hi lights that the unit is selling. It’s little wonder that the phono stage is moving magnet. Getting enough kick for moving coil without the help of a preamp -ie 72dB -could be quite difficult. I run 53 dB out of my phono preamp along with a 4.0mV output Grado master. BTW, the latest $1k Grado Master sounded so good that it replaced my multi thousand dollar moving coil on my main table! I could use the 1.0mv version, but John Grado advised me that this was pushing it.

Quite happy with my McIntosh MA252, got a tube preamp with Mcintosh Class A/B power for a lot less than this is offering. I also expect I'll have less trouble with servicing and spare parts in another 15 years!
Interesting tech and I liked the tour, but nobody is waiting for an integrated at this price range, and why would you limit yourself to an onboard DAC?
It's clearly priced to not sell much and I think they will achieve this.
The carbon fibre is 'tacky', like having gold plated taps, its an irrelevant expense, but when you are making the numbers up anyway, why not eh?
Small tech point, but a volume control needs to work logarithmically as that's how our ears work, not linearly. :)
It's not nice to see people taking class D designs, which were always about delivering good power cheaply, and turning them into overly expensive designs. I've watched this BS for over 40 years and it will never change!
Thanks for looking at it, very hard to share your enthusiasm though :)

Carbon fiber case is tacky. It reminds me of an amp that belongs in the trunk of a riced out 1995 Honda civic with full body kit and type R emblems at some car show.

LOL but IMHO it DOES have an effect on reducing vibrations and the effects of the having all the sensitive electronics inside surrounded by a metal box which for SOME amps, acts like an antenna and a source of noise. C F is expensive so I don't think that it was just a pure "look" thing that Java was after . . . . Cheers

Moving magnet only shows the target market but there should be slot in boards for MC.
The product would have to be absolutely outstanding at its job to justify the whopping price and, because looks are important to some people, this design already looks somehow old hat.
Methinks that this is a company which is narrow-minded and will have a lifespan of VERY short length.
One cannot just wish a pedigree into being.

send it or anything really to erin at erin’s audio corner or amir at audio science review for measurements. it does matter!! subjectivity is just not enough for consumerism bc we’re taking all the risk upfront.

NCX500 Amp from audiophonics France costs $1400 and its dynamic range SNR is 137dB. You practically buy this amp just for the carbon fiber case, that doesn't contribute to sound quality.
Here are the NCX500 specs... tough to beat... it beats even the AHB2
    Output power 2x500W @ 2Ω, 1kHz, THD = 0.01%
    2x600W @ 4Ω, 1kHz, THD = 0.01%
    2x300W @ 8Ω, 1kHz, THD = 0.01%
    THD+N @ 20Hz-20kHz, 4Ω Typ: 0.0006%
    Max: 0.001%
    SNR 137dB
    Output noise 7µV
    Frequency response 0Hz - 70kHz @ +0/-3dB
