Watching this video made me realize that you weren't using the "88 Route Guide," the English guide book that most (foreign) walking pilgrims use. But, that route over the mountains (called Tosa no Kaido) that you took isn't marked in the guide book at all. So in spite of, or maybe because of, not using that typical route guide, you took a route that most people don't take and, as a result, walked throught some spectacular scenery. Great job, Efren!

I did have the guidebook but I also had multiple GPX tracks from other henros that I would use for navigation.
