Your reviews show off the real tones of the guitars. Love my purple passion one. It is light weight and has a fast neck. Two things that make it a favorite to reach for.
Hi Margaret and thanks :-) I'm a bit of a fan of purple guitars for some reason. Yes, you can wear an SG all night without feeling the weight. None of the backache but you've still got all of the power. Cheers :-)
Hi Rory and thanks mate :-) I have done a couple of amp set-up videos and a look at what I use for recording these videos and it's pretty basic, really. My not-so-secret weapon is a little Blackstar ID Core 40 bedroom amplifier. Best bit of kit I've had since my Vox AC30 in the 70's. You can pick them up for around £100 on the used market. I even bought a spare just in case the one I normally use goes wrong! Cheers :-)
Great review- but for myself,I love the sound of a Strat but imho these play much better and the coil split gives me some of that beloved Strat sound- PS the knobs suck bad- especially when you go for the split, they come off and reveal they must cost 3 cents/replace with hex locking knobs and everything is super excellent
Hi Noir Kat and thanks :-) Yes, the coil split will make it a bit more Stratty but I don't think they'll have spent as much as 3 cents on the knobs, maybe 2? Locking knobs is a great idea for push/pulls but only if you actually use them! Cheers, Gary :-)
Nice one mate. Reminds me of that Epiphone bass I looked at before I found the Vintage. Two extra strings notwithstanding of course! A little nod to Santana in the demo?
Hi Steve and thanks mate :-) Well spotted on the fake Carlos nod :-) Yes, Epiphone do a nice EB variation but your Vintage looks way better IMO. Cheers :-)
If you have a chance , i would love for you to get a Gibson Les Paul Special Deep Purple. i would like to see an unboxing and review. i think it is only available from Gibson direct. Thank you for all you reviews
Hi Tom and thanks :-) As it goes we do have a Les Paul Special coming up at some point. I've just had a quick search round the UK stores and there isn't a single one....perhaps it's a USA only item. In fact, GAK haven't got a single LP Special - all out of stock! I'll keep it on my radar!. Cheers :-)
Hi Wahwah :-) Agreed. The colour range is sensational and a quick tot-up for all 6 colours from Gear4Music comes in at a mere £1914 - less than the price of a Les paul Standard! Cheers :-)
You may want to sit down for this one.... the Epiphone logo has always been that way with a few variations along the way. Mandela effect? Anyway, the coil splitting thing is spot on. Got like 5 or 6 of guitars with it. Just grab a strat ffs !🤝 Cheers!
Hahahahaha, hi Mr Whitesnake :-) I agree with you that the changes are subtle but the most significant logo difference I was alluding to was when they changed the headstock profile they gave the 'N' a long tail like the 'N' on a Gibson logo and they moved the dot on the 'i' further up. Ah, regarding the coil splitting, I guess I have to concede it gives you a greater tonal variety it just seems that since I turned 60 a few years ago my 'grumpy' gene suddenly kicked in! As it goes, we've got an unusual Strat coming up the like of which I've never seen. It's sort of an Apple. Cheers :-)
Hi Katsas and thanks, you're very kind :-) You're quite right, there's no substitute for practising and these are great guitars. Joe Bonamassa puts 7 hours a day in and Jimi Hendrix used to walk to gigs with his guitar around his neck and play it on the way there and back! Cheers, Gary :-)
If you buy a guitar with split coils then you've probably bought the wrong guitar, ha ha sounds like something I would say, but I think they offer a good experimental variation and certainly tick a few boxes for many a buyer. Actually I'd go to as far to say for a first guitar there's no better option. .
Hahahaha, hi Michael :-) I never dreamt I could become a grumpy old man but look at me now - I've nailed it! Yes, all true and certainly as a first guitar you get a quality instrument with a decent headstock logo and they've really upped their game these days. Cheers :-)
Oh Gary P thanks :-) Apologies for the slow reply. I've been told I've to stop saying they're pointless but TBH if you need to turn a humbucker into a single coil then perhaps a guitar with single coils may work better for you. The ideal guitar stable (IMO) is a Les Paul, a Strat and an Ibanez superstrat and realistically, none of the aforementioned will fulfil the roles of the others. Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one. Cheers, Gary :-)

Love the sound you get from all guitars. Have you done and have I missed a vlog of your amp set up?

I dig the color's they sell these in. Wanderlust Green Metallic Radio Blue Metallic and Purple Passion Metallic. Totally un-Gibson like.

@@FoxysGuitarShow Ha ha ... ah yes the grumpy gene. Mine activated early in my fifties. Looking forward to the strat video. Keep Rocking brother!
Are you from America or United Kingdom
And do you still have that guitar
Hi Corey :-) I'm from the UK and the guitar now has a new human attached to it. Cheers, Gary :-)
Now that I know how it's meant to sound by a "proper" guitarist, I'm over the moon with my purchase. Better I get practicing 👍

👍@@FoxysGuitarShow Great bit of inspiring info right there Gary! 🎸🔥Cheers.

So I am not the only person that thinks coil splits are stupid.
