    In Australia we have a very hotly debated culture war between saying Parmi or Parma. To find out the UK calls it parmo.... I'll never argue either way again. Parmo is the worst thing i've ever heard. Bloody poms.

      @moogle9148 21 час назад +10

      If it helps I'm British and this is the first I've ever heard of it; you probably have more of a claim to call it what you like. Even if it was invented here it's certainly not a common food: American southern fried chicken is far more familiar in the UK

    • @JayTraversJT
      @JayTraversJT 21 час назад +9

      I’m part Brit and part Italian so I’m sure I can somewhat answer that. I don’t think i’ve ever heard Parmo in the UK. It’s definitely not the norm. I’d argue the more common is Paa-muh or Parma tho.
      Also, not to make it any more confusing but in Italy I’ve heard even more pronunciations for it lol. Hell, most people still call Parmigiano Parmesan half the time.
      Edit: apparently the dish was made in north Yorkshire so that adds up. I can see the harder accent spinning it that way.

    As a middle aged brit I don't think I've ever had a parmo. Most chicken places I know only do the US style of fried chicken or the south African Peri Peri style. I would love to see you guys make some English dishes but none of that student stuff like beans on toast that everyone seems to think we eat. Much love from the UK, hope you're all having a great day.

    Love the Korean sauce!! Though, it's not pronounced "Kochujang", but "Gochujang". The Korean language doesn't really have a G sound, but a very soft K sound that is often "romanized" (translated) to a hard G sound. A hard K sound is a completely different letter. Gochujang = 고추장 Kochujang = 코추장 meaning something like KO Chief (gibberish).

    Love fried chicken, thanks for this. Odd that you say chicken parm was originally a UK dish and is a popular pub dish because as a 55 year old brit, I have genuinely never seen this, not even heard about it until probably my thirties or fourties when I heard about this American chicken parm dish. Born in 68, growing up in the eighties, if you were going to get chicken, it would be chicken in a basket”, a very basic roasted or fried plain chicken thigh with chips in a crappy plastic ‘basket’ like dish. Even something like a breaded chicken schnitzel isn’t really that widespread. I really started seeing them as regularly available when I moved to germany for work. Anyway otherwise thanks as always for the fun content!
