Apparently my mechanic had removed it because he thought it was useless and since then I was under the impression that I had gained more weight than I thought resulting in poor acceleration 🤣🤣
I've been searching the internet for over a year on how to fix my kid's 4 wheeler. It just didn't seem like the belt was getting the right tension it needed. Didn't know that part was missing a washer until I found this video... To the store I go.
For those newbies, the thin adjustment washer seems to be confused with a restrictor washer which it is not. Restrictor washers are much thicker and are on the drive boss, (where the teeth of the belt touches). As the belt gets worn/skinny, you pull the washer(s) out to gain back top end. When belt is too thin for adjustment, you get a new belt. Use the right size washer to fit the new belt correctly.

Great explanation- thanks 1 I've a Yamaha Majesty 250, and after fitting a new drive belt it's slow moving off, but great in the other ranges, so I think I left the washer out!

what if my engine is very powerful on takeoff and acceleration?? it was upgraded from 110cc to 200cc and from 2 valves to 4 valves ? removing the washer is much preferable right?
Very interesting video and it's helped me adjust my variator to get better speed on my hyosung sf50 2t with no mods except for a washer and taking off the limiter on the CD I am able to reach 40 miles an hour and I reach 30 miles an hour in about 4 to 5 seconds. So thank you.
Question, mine had a plastic ring (restrictor for 50cc). I removed it based on the other videos, and instantly was able to go upto 40mph (before was restricted to 30mph). Will removing that affect anything else? Mine does not have a groove for washer...thanks!

My belt i think is rubbing on the starter gear just above the variator I’m using 6g weights and stock clutch so don’t know what’s going on I do have a pwk 21 carborator and a 90cc BBK for it so it might be too much for that belt and it goes beyond the threshold
Hi man. Thanks for this vid. I think the belt on my stage6 variator sits a bit higher because it doesn't have the washer, just the boss itself. Probably the reason why i don't have enough acceleration and power from a stop when going uphill. Plus the belt on the rear pulley is not situated on the topmost edge of the pulley but a bit under. So is it why everytine i go up a hill fron a complete stop, i couldn't pull away because it felt like starting on the second gear? And by the way man, will i not lose my kickstart if i pkace that shim washer? Thanks
Greetings from Greece!! I have a '06 runner vxr 200cc, but I have some problems. I changed my drive belt at 40000km normally and I began to lose power. I lost at least 1000rpm during clutching when I pull full throttle from stop. I've lost all my acceleration power after that service.. :( What do you propose I sould do to fix that? Is a different manufacturers drive belt able to do that much change? I don't know if the mechanic put a washer just as you in the video. What is your opinion? Thanx a lot. (Sorry for my English)
He probably changed to heavier rollers which will cause the belt to move to a higher speed before the clutch engages. You should have taken it back and had it done right.
Hi, I have a problem with my scooter. It's a Piaggio Beverly 300 Tourer 2009. I just replaced myself the driving belt and the rollers on the variator, closed everything and then tested on the center stand. On idle rpm the rear wheel has an unusual spinning. I haven't actually done any distances in order for the new parts to settle, but this spinning concerns me a lot. The clutch bell nut and axis is moving as if the clutch is engaged at idle rpm and so is the wheel. What could be the problem? Have I tighten it more that required? Or belt is not installed/settled as you described in the video?
Your clutch springs are engaging to soon.. or you have a clearance issue between the bell and the clutch pads, (check compatibility of bell with clutch)
Same here mate, I have 125 liberty and it spins as soon as I start it, Changed belt, variator, rollers, springs as it has gone 70k kilometers 😂 Mechanic doesn't know what it is I don't either.. Have you managed to get it sorted and what was the issue???
Hmm this might be a solution to a problem I have with a Malossi vario set vibrating harder than my gf's Tarzan that did not come with a ring which is usually the case with other vario sets. It did have the restrictor nobody wants to use

I'm installing a new v belt and the primary and secondary spin freely with the cover off, but when I put the cover on, the kickstarter jams. Any ideas? I had to remove the primary cover and wrap the belt around the shaft, then retightened it. I don't believe the belt is resting on that collar. Could that be the issue? I believe the collar was pretty much pushed most of the way inward. I think maybe the belt is pinched and the cover is not seated fully, which is causing the kickstarter gears to jam so that the kick start lever cannot return to the up positions. Need help!

Cuz I I think I have bad slipping or something and my power is low, I've replaced everything around the belt with new parts and I still get a burning rubber smell and a lot of heat build up on the variator part of the hub thing... Meaning, holding the brakes and going almost full throttle for like 2-3 seconds, but of course that did not work out for him. Now, the thing is, when I accelerate,there seems to be a lag in the engine revving up and actually moving ahead instantly, like it used to. What exactly might have gone wrong and how can I fix it? i have a piaggio nrg first model on the market year 1995. i have malossi complete overrange kit and i cant install washers becouse if i do i cant make the star of the pulley to get in the shreds of the crankshaft to get the right assembly. and this happends becouse i use a pulley original. do i have to use a malossi pulley and respectivly star to use washers to get the belt high in rear pulley? i see that when i trie to mount the front pulley the belt is siting high in the rear pulley. but when i trie to assembly the front pulley, she does fit but not in the right way. belt is more thick and pulley gets unheven in rotation. what do i do !? i had the same problem with a front pulley stage6 that got ruined. :(
I need some idea why i loss my top speed. Initially the stock top speed is 120kmh then i chg to heavier Dr. Pully that has edges roller weight from 13g to 13.5g. I gain top speed to 132kmh.. but now its gradually decrease the top speed after 1000-2000km mileage and now the top speed is around 124kmh.. can you explain?

Its for the kickstart.. if you look in your belt cover theres a piece that mirrors the piece you asking about. When you kick start the piece in cover spins and shoots towards the piece on crank, they interlock and rotate the engine. The cover side piece returns to its lowest point once you release the kick start lever.. if you like having another way to start your engine incase battery dies, then yes you need it.
Agr Mohamed Rabbani They fluctuate when running, the rear pinches in forcing the belt to a smaller gear ratio as the front opens up to a bigger ratio. There's videos of it in action on here. Look up gy6 belt slap I know there's a video that shows a case open showing that.
If your talking about the alumininum piece with the fins, its the drive face plate, also serves as the cooling fan for the belt and clutch. The fins are fan blades. Its half a pulley, the variator slides towards it when the weights roll, pushing the belt out, changing the ratio. Gy6 50s are slightly different, theyre steel, have teeth around the edge for the starter to engage, and the cooling fan is a separate piece of plastic. (Cast aluminum with integrated fan type seems better than the gy6 50's plastic fan blades. the aluminum blades are taller and solid.. plastic fan blades are short and flimsy.
If your belt in the rear pulley is to low it gets higher in the front and your acceleration will be horrible adding a washer will make the front less tight allowing the belt to go lower in the front and therefore higher in the back to get best acceleration.
+Thomas Flynn This happened to me all the time. Replace your clutch / more lube for it. Easier to just buy a new one with lube already on it like mine had.

My new drivebelt i got yesterday in mail is 2mm wider, so if i add a 2mm washer will solve the slow take of ?

My variator pulley doesn't have that place to install a washer.
Could I install the washer without having that hole where it should fit?

Might of trashed your rollers. If they have flat spots they will not work properly.

The weight is actually your rpm. You need to find the weight that give you the most hp at best rpm for you engine.

@@ezgaming8101 lighter weight can only be use with the correct exhaust and engine. High rev engine with tune pipe. Is not good for stock build
