'06 TSX here, changed the starter, power steering pump, a/c compressor, and even unplugged the bluetooth module last year cuz I thought it might be draining my battery. Turns out it was the starter causing it not to start. It's still unplugged by the way! Overall it's been a nice car that I've owed for 10 years with 182,000 miles currently.

A proud owner of 2005 TSX. Bought the one that was used as a dealership's test drive vehicle with 28 miles on it. Now, in 2024, it has 255K, so far had to replace a serpentine belt at 140K, engine coils at 170K, alternator at 243K. The very first that went out was the trunk button, then the passenger door actuator, then the driver door actuator (both for remote entry). That's basically it. Hoping with the proper care I'll get another 250K out this car. I also had a used 2006 TSX for my wife, it also had a passenger door actuator issues and a leaking steering actuator. I love this car so much, that I even bought my daughter a 2005 TSX as a first car, manufactured just a month after mine.

'08 TSX owner here. Original owner, bought her in '08 sitting on the showroom floor. She's an auto though. Wish I could go back and rethink that. Unfortunately too, my girl has had a target on her since day one. Hit solid in the front end once, rear ended twice at stop lights, and really hard hit side T-Boned directly at the left front wheel just sitting in a parking lot. She's really suffered from other people hitting her but she's still soldiering on and fortunately with 85K on her now, she's been very dependable. I appreciate your channel. My goal is for her to out live me. So far, so good. A couple back in July offered me $12K cash for her. Their daughter was going off to college in August and needed a car. They saw her sitting at Kroger and when I came out of the store they were admiring her and asked if I'd consider selling her. Keep up the great work.

I've had to do brakes all the way around, two bearings, and now I am havibg a strange intermittent headlight issue. I live in WA so your comment about rust... yep, that could be an issue at some point for me. I have to say it's a relief to hear you mention the 1st - 2nd gear issue because I thought I was losing it! I will have owned this for 2 years on 6/13. I yhink my AC compressor has gone out, and of course that happened on a record day here last year where it hit 108 beginning of June!

A problem I struggled with for a long time on my 07 was total power and electrical failure. The car would basically shut off sitting at a red light or electronics would malfunction while driving. I did some research and sometimes this could be related to ECU failure from moisture leaking onto the circuit board causing it to rust. I took mine out and it was fine. Others suggested changing the battery ground cable even if it looks in good condition still. I did so with an OEM one and that seemed to solve the issue. No more problems with that, fingers crossed.
Another problem that I am having, which is more of an annoyance, is that during idle with AC on the car vibrates tremendously. That’s the problem I’m currently working.
Otherwise, best car I’ve ever owned. Love my TSX 6speed.

I had kinda a weird similar problem it ended up being my knock sensor car was going crazy and in limp mode sputters the whole nine yards lol..

    • @riza4086

I live in Massachusetts where the roads are salted regularly. One major issues that I have found is corrosion damage to the body and panels on the driver's side. If you live in a similar climate take your wheels and fender liners off and check for rust. Also check the pinch weld lift points, ESP. on the front driver's side. It's very common for the entire portion to completely rust out.
After a full desalinization I use POR 15 regularly. Your car can be mechanically sound but if the body starts to rot out from underneath you it's a losing battle in the long term.

    • @RishMedia

Yeah I know all about that being in CT all my life lol shitty roads ontop of the massive amount of rust the dump around

  • @Kantoh22
    @Kantoh22 3 года назад +47

Nice things to list, but I generally havent had issues with those parts, until later miles, and if I went aftermarket, I was changing them out again. Always try to go denso with your starters, alternators, and so forth IF possible. Aftermarket axles suck when you get them for a manual. They are not the right size for the driver side. Unsure if it was a tad bit shorter, or longer.
Things that should also be listed:
HID Ballasts can get water in them or rust, if you live in areas with a lot of rain/snow. I sealed mine better with silicone
Clutch pedal cracks causing your clutch to prematurely go out.
Door Lock actuators commonly need to be replaced
Front Compliance Bushings commonly need to be replaced
Climate control lights might go out. Believe it or not, its the headunit/cd player portion that snaps into the back that fixes that. I replaced mine, and Im good. New ones can be found on ebay even.
Dome lights dont work with new bulbs even. The switch is the issue. Replace that.
Exhaust tips hang uneven. Get new hangers or better ones. I went with polyurethane. Worked perfect for years.
Rattle on start up? Its the VTC cam gear. I still have not replaced mine.
Hesitation while accelerating? The accelerator sensor most likely is the culprit. Its part number 37971-RBB-003. Sorry for the copy and paste.
Driver heated seat not working? Eh. I replaced my seat. Now that one isnt working after 3 years. 😒
And I think thats it. 😂 You covered the rest.

    • @RishMedia
      @RishMedia  3 года назад +5

2005 Acura TSX 194k owned since 2009. She looks nearly new still. . Biggest Issue I have is that this car will never die and saves me loads of cash. If i were like some people and got a new car ever 4-7 years, assuming averaging a $500 car payment, I would have spent $84,000 to date on car payments. If we assuming increased cost of insuring a newer vehicle, dealer fees etc were pushing $100,000. Calculate in opportunity cost of not being able to invest that $ were talking $130,000ish. So when I look at my bank account I know that my Acura TSX helped contribute to the number i see 😀. Blackstone lab oil results show that the Engine and Transmission have lots of life left.

So I had one of these... badged as a Honda Accord Euro. Lost the alternator twice. Power steering hose had to be replaced as it was leaking. Back brake calipers at 150,000 km. Then the transmission went completely at 154000km. Know 3 other people that owned the same model. 2 of the 3 lost alternator and had complete transmission failure.

Yeah the alternators always seem to go with these quicker with aftermarket ones. Even then somethings the parts itself can be faulty.

Also can try to unplug the Bluetooth module it can be causing a drainage issue.

Pretty much my experience with the 06 TSX 5AT w/ navi I had with +175,000 miles (totaled back in fall 2019:
    - two alternators (local)
    - A/C compressor (eBay)
    - P/S pump (eBay)
    - P/S rack (Amazon)
    - hairline crack in radiator
    - faulty condenser/radiator fans that didn't spin fast enough at city speeds, overheat issue
    - replaced radiator cap
    - replaced overflow reservoir coolant hose (sucking in air and air bubble in heater core causing no heat in winter)
    - passenger upper control arm (HeelToe)
    - rear camber kit (HeelToe, lower Aspec suspension)
    - replaced snapped OEM endlinks (had Progress RSB, replaced with HeelToe Fastline adjustable endlinks from HeelToe)
Seems like a lot; but, the cost was spread across the 13 years of ownership (mostly after +125,000 miles). Everything else from bumper-to-bumper worked as new.
