Glycerin is one of the best moisturizers for skin. A few drops in the palm of your hand mixed with a few drops of water and you can cover your face and hands. Let it dry. It will feel sticky at first, but after it dries (a few minutes maybe), your skin will be very soft. As for the demo, I liked how you mixed small batches and showed how to mix them. Very well done!

Thanks for posting an informative video. I work with polymer clay and had been wanting to make my own texture sheets with silicone and corn starch. I generally use just enough corn starch to slightly thicken the silicone. Then I lightly starch my hands and a sheet of wax paper and knead the ball. It has worked beautifully. I did not know about adding glycerine and I wondered why people bothered to add paint. So, all of my questions answered and some possible variations on my method.
If you want pourable silicone that's safe for plastics, then thin the silicone caulk with silicone oil. Add a little cornstarch to reduce the setup time. You're welcome.

Wasn't sure if I could succeed till I have watched this video. It the only one I have seen the use of glycerin. Actually, all molds are good, but I think each, for a specific mold. Thanks a lot!

I enjoyed this video very much. What I want to make is a mold out of lace material. It needs to be very thin so the lace that comes out of the molds closely mimics the original lace, I think I’ll try the recipe you used on the pink formula!

You can make a nice mother mold from Magic Sculpt. That's an epoxy type of material, and it is pretty easy to just mold by hands, and it cures really rigid. I've seen it on Amazon and at the Compleat Sculptor. Magic Smooth is similar, but thinner and is normally used to coat foam.
This is the only video I’ve found that tells what to do about the vinegar smell! Cool! Though I’m wondering what would happen if someone tried the neutral-cure, no-odor type of silicone (and maybe mixed it with starch). Couldn’t that be another way to avoid the smell?

I've seen a lot of videos about the silicone caulk/cornstarch molds....nobody says why you actually need cornstarch...like, the silicone is pretty thick, if you used a good release, why couldn't you just use the silicone straight out of the tube? I don't have a problem using the cornstarch, but nobody says why you need it and who determined we should use it? Is it just to thicken the already thick silicone? When its used for its intended use, (caulk) it doesn't need to be mixed with anything, right?

Laz - 5:00 I hope you didn't slice that caulk tube (prior) with a knife or scissors. A lady on another video has been embarrassing us macho men with this tip..... apparently there is hole in the handle of the caulk gun .... it's a cutting blade. Who knew?

use high acetone nail polish remover to thin your silicone so you can our it and get a nice thin detailed first coat

The curing agent in silicone is acetic acid, that's what the smell is.

You can use acetone to dilute the silicone, when it drys it evaporates...

Sit your smelly molds outside for a few days and the sun will cure the smell and mold faster and house won't stink.

The smell is acetic acid. It's the same acid that's in vinegar just a stronger acid version.

You CANNOT use any of these stuff on humans or anything living for that matter. They do sell special molding material for body parts.

Mike Love corn starch will also set the silicone in an hour. Without it it will take 24 hours
In thick sections it won't cure without some form of moisture like the cornstarch or glycerin. In thin sections it works fine straight from the tube.
