The fact that Amy can do a 10 minute video about corvids talking with Fable cavorting on her head and shoulders is a remarkable feat of concentration. Fable is the most amusing of distractions.

It's just the fact that they can even mimic your tone of voice, something I don't see parrots do. It catches me off guard to this day because it's so shocking and it makes them so interesting. They just seem to have an intelligence at a whole different level to other birds and aren't just merely mimicking. They really are my favorite birds, the Corvids in general.

Sadly, my Christian coworker - who freely displays a cross at her desk - freaked out at my crow I put on my desk (not live obviously), stating it was bad luck and evil!
I took it to my car, just to keep the peace, but I was upset. My little crow is no more bad or evil, than her cross.

@@sarahgilbert8036 Ask her why sometime. As a Christian I'd hope she realizes crows are part of God's creation and no more evil than any other kind of bird. Also why would she believe in luck? That's quite contradictory to Christianity, especially if an animal is controlling it. Hope you're able to change her mind someday and I hope your crow keeps doing well.

They usually do it when they're not in the company of other crows. I've heard they use it to lure predators to open up the corpse of another animal, before driving off the predator with pack tactics so they can enjoy the meal themselves. Wonderful birds.

When I worked at a zoo, I got to help handraise a couple of White-naped Ravens. The male, Smoochie, grew really attached to the keepers, particularly my coworker, Jim, who adored him. Smoochie picked up a lot of words, most of which he said in Jim’s voice, but I laughed at him enough that he picked up my laugh. Eventually, Smoochie went to a different zoo, Little Rock Zoo in Arkansas USA, to be part of their education department and you can see him in some of their RUclips videos. He still says “Hey good boy” in Jim’s voice lol

I was just sure there were no ravens in my neighborhood until one landed with a thump on my fire escape! Both my cat and I were mesmerized and my first thought was that is the largest crow I’ve ever seen! Took a photo. I try to always carry cat treats with me on my walks. The ravens have figured it out but the crows have not. I haven’t seen them in awhile and I’m afraid the crows chased them out!

I feed covids everyday...Something I have noticed is when they are happy and happy to see me they have what I call a sweet voice. Very different from the normal for them. I understand it as they are giving thanks to me...Are,you aware of this. .

    • @MaryAnnNytowl

@@diegomo1413 why? Why not feed them? They are intelligent enough that they can find food on their own, if David isn't around to feed them, so it's not like they would starve without him. There's no other reason I could possibly think of for you to demand he stop feeding them.
      Edited to add:
I made a boo-boo, and read "corvid" instead of "covid." Shame on me! I blame sleep deprivation and caffeine deprivation, and I'm sticking to that story! 😄

I love this. Thank you for sharing this wonderful information with us. I love these amazing Ravens. We have loads near me. I love to watch them. Once there were about 20 or so birds altogether in a tree. Totally awesome 💜🤗

I don't know why but the thought of a talking T Rex just popped into my head. Imagine walking through a dense forest then hearing a soft human sounding "hi" right before you see the toothy grin of a giant hungry T Rex. 😳

Fable really does like showing what he can do, seems very happy, I'm glad to see that.
I've got two locals that sometimes chill in the tree outside my window sometimes, I'd love to get a better look at them, but they are rather averse to letting me get a proper look. I think I'm at the edge of the range, it's never a regular visit, just on the way to somewhere else.

They must be the cutest of shenanigans what a incredible handsome bird , i love all these kinds of birds i once long ago took a blue jay into my care he was blown out the nest during a very violent storm i think !! But i never had expected such a complex animal and very communicative and social, it was a beautiful time with him fortunately i found a spot in the forest where there were several jays and other birds coming to the spot for refreshing and looking for food, and he was always free to fly and came back but this day i knew it was different he was excited and noisy, and he came back once on my shoulder he rubbed his beak on my cheek and flew away i was sad and happy and little drip of a tear was the end of this marvellous moments i had with him
