Right? It's not saying human words in a 'bird voice,' it's literally mimicking her voice. I bet it could sound like lots of different people if it spent time around them
It's just the fact that they can even mimic your tone of voice, something I don't see parrots do. It catches me off guard to this day because it's so shocking and it makes them so interesting. They just seem to have an intelligence at a whole different level to other birds and aren't just merely mimicking. They really are my favorite birds, the Corvids in general.
Sadly, my Christian coworker - who freely displays a cross at her desk - freaked out at my crow I put on my desk (not live obviously), stating it was bad luck and evil! I took it to my car, just to keep the peace, but I was upset. My little crow is no more bad or evil, than her cross.
@@sarahgilbert8036 Ask her why sometime. As a Christian I'd hope she realizes crows are part of God's creation and no more evil than any other kind of bird. Also why would she believe in luck? That's quite contradictory to Christianity, especially if an animal is controlling it. Hope you're able to change her mind someday and I hope your crow keeps doing well.
It's amazing how smooth Fable's voice is when mimicking. My only experience with ravens is encountering them when hiking through the deep forest. Having heard many times the deep throaty guttural call they make, I would never have guessed they could modulate their voice like that.

African Greys can mimic the timbre just as well, I think. But that raven sounds even more like her person than a parrot, I think, because her vocalizations are lower, in the same octave.
I've seen rooks talking in weird tongues, just random babble as opposed to specific imitation of anything in particular. It kind of reminded me of a band warming up. They usually do it when they're not in the company of other crows. I've heard they use it to lure predators to open up the corpse of another animal, before driving off the predator with pack tactics so they can enjoy the meal themselves. Wonderful birds.
Fascinating animals! There is a nesting pair at my work, and they have the best chatters, with Cronks, and Brrrrrrrbs, and Pops. They’ve gotten used to me, and I give them their space, but they do fly down to within 20 feet of me.

I gained a newfound respect for these amazingly intelligent creatures after watching a doc where within a single minute the raven had untied a knot to get a tool it needed to reach into a small space and retrieve a treat. Such a beautiful bird and affectionate too(:
They must be the cutest of shenanigans what a incredible handsome bird , i love all these kinds of birds i once long ago took a blue jay into my care he was blown out the nest during a very violent storm i think !! But i never had expected such a complex animal and very communicative and social, it was a beautiful time with him fortunately i found a spot in the forest where there were several jays and other birds coming to the spot for refreshing and looking for food, and he was always free to fly and came back but this day i knew it was different he was excited and noisy, and he came back once on my shoulder he rubbed his beak on my cheek and flew away i was sad and happy and little drip of a tear was the end of this marvellous moments i had with him
I feel like the raven keeps asking for kisses. So cute.
that raven is a real beauty!
