      My grandfather was in exceptional health for his age, I think he would have lived to be 90, but he died at 79 because of an aortal aneurysm. At the time of his death he didn't take any medications, was extremely active, worked on his own vehicles, actually maintained a farm, he was as active as any 35 year old. I think a video should be made on aneurysms just so more people know about them, they're very interesting. One video could discuss aneurysms as a whole, then dipping into what different ones in different parts of your body do to you.

    something ive always wondered is why wouldnt someone just attack the 100 or so people crowding at the security lines themselves? why go after the planes when theres tons of people packed together like sardines right there? fire 1 bullet into the crowd and its gonna pass through at least 5 people and no one checked for bombs or guns yet at that point, thats the reason for the line. you could bring a damn claymore

    • @adnanilyas6368
      @adnanilyas6368 8 лет назад +17

      Depends on the intentions of the attack. If the attack is just general mass murder, than that would be effective (though stadiums might be more targeted, as demonstrated in the Paris attack). However, most attacks have other motives. If there';s a specific person or group of people you want to attack (a la Dylan Roof), this is not an efficient option. Terrorists want symbolic violence, violence that makes people afraid of things that have very low rates of danger. Bringing a plane down is much more symbolic in that way than killing people who are getting on. But in reality, planes are still extremely safe, especially compared to, say, driving to the airport.

      Just want to clarify that the likelihood of a bullet passing through more than 2 people is astronomically low. If the handgun's a 9mm, or 45.ACP, it won't pass through too many before fragmenting and tumbling. Now, some rifle rounds could, but the common 223./5.56 round is designed to tumble, so it'd be hard for it to pass through too many people either.

      The TSA creates the illusion that you can't sneak things onto a plane that you're not supposed to. What if you just showered really damn well after handling explosives?... The swab thing seems pointless if they can keep themselves clean with simple clothing .-.
    ...
    In fact, what's stopping someone from using a hazmat suit to create an explosive, then conceal it in a water-proof container - clean the outside of the container, then place it in a bag? There'd be no trace of it on your body, on the bag, or anywhere for that matter .-. ... Since you've been in a hazmat-type suit, you couldn't even breathe it in (if you made sure to breathe through to an oxygen tank of sorts, etc).
    Honestly... the swabbing thing seems pointless in that regard. But I suppose nobody would go through that much trouble to conceal traces of explosives, huh? o-o

      Sure it acts as a deterrent. But it also acts as a gross invasion of privacy, long infuriating wait times, and the corruption of power as grossly undertrained employees play pretend cop.
      A study has already shown they fail 95% of the time including ridiculously obvious instances like a guy who taped a fake bomb to his back (he got in).
      The only reason a plane matters more would be in the event of a hijacking, which is preventable if we made a secure cockpit. Which we can do, has already been proposed, and no airplane company is bothering with.
      Why? Because apparently it's cheaper to make a system that maintains employees, guard dogs, chemicals, storage, and body scanners, than it is to make a secure double door cockpit on an airplane. Probably the same cost it takes to make a single first class seat.

  • @kwad8

    A lot of commenters here seem to misunderstand security in general and airport security in particular. So many people claiming its "theater" and something similar saying it hasn't stopped terrorists from entering said country.
    Thats not what it is it for. It is to stop terrorists from committing terroristic acts on a plane. People claim they don't work but then I will ask when is the last time a terror attack happened on a plane? keep in mind that many of these security measures came after 9/11/2001.
    Also we have a good idea what these machines do and the rules at the airport. If we wanted to do something bad we just look for a loophole in the system. Thats what the 9/11 hijackers did taking on box cutter which were permitted at the time.
    If a terrorist wants to enter the country to do a terror attack in said country they will travel to that country carrying next to nothing and so security won't catch anything and acquire needed materials in that country to make a bomb, shot up the place, steal a truck etc. A terrorist isnt going to carry a bomb from the middle east to use in the US they will make the bomb in the US.

    TSA was a horrible experience. I went on a plane for the first time recently on a trip with some of the kids with my school. The TSA workers didn't even pull us aside as a separate group to help a group of 12-year-olds get through without setting on the scanner. I felt terrible and really anxious because nobody told us what we had to set aside and where to walk through. There weren't even instructions. It was even worse because my mom had me pack 6 granola bars, and they were loose in my bag >:[
    Also, trust me. TSA isn't all theater. Airports wouldn't spend money buying scanners and paying officers just for the sake of show. If they wanted it all to be a show, they would use simple metal detectors and hire fake guards to pull aside "offenders."

    I don't have any of this bullshit in my country. Put your carry-on on the conveyor, step through the gate and you're done. All of these extra precautions the Americans take have been shown to be largely ineffective, widely called "security theatre". It doesn't actually make you any safer, but it makes you _feel_ safer, and at the end of the day, that's all that matters to them. Feelings, not facts.

    How come clouds are always flat on the bottom?

    • @HarmanRobotics
      @HarmanRobotics 8 лет назад +2

      They aren't always flat on the bottom. There are many types of clouds that do not have flat bottoms. The common cumulus cloud is flat on the bottom because it is formed by rising air (thermals). As the air rises it expands and cools, when it cools past a certain point the moisture in the air condenses and becomes visible. That point is called the cloud base. You'll notice that al the clouds will have the same cloud base on a given day. The higher the cloud base the drier the air will be. Sometimes the bottoms of those clouds will be concave, that happens when then thermal feeding the cloud is very strong.

    • @kairos-049
      @kairos-049 8 лет назад

      They're not?

    • @samvidas9599
      @samvidas9599 8 лет назад

      So why do they all have the same cloud base, though? That's just the line where there's enough moisture for clouds to form, and it's drier below there?

    • @HarmanRobotics
      @HarmanRobotics 8 лет назад

      No, it mostly has to do with temperature. As altitude increases, temperature decreases. When the rising air cools down to the dew point then you see the moisture in the rising air mass. The "line" marks where the temperature is cool enough for the moisture in the cloud to begin condensing.

    • @HarmanRobotics
      @HarmanRobotics 8 лет назад

      The altitude of cloud base depends upon the humidity, temperature and atmospheric pressure. Drier air will have high cloud bases - such as in the desert, and humid air will have low cloud bases - such as in the tropics.

    best thing if you can is to fly from smaller airports. the checks are the same but the queues are much smaller. get thrown in no time.
