    The quality of the dancing is excellent, however the overly slowed-down tempi make me anxious. Nureyev's choreography doesn't look musical and therefore the dancers don't seem to be able to react to the music. And not just in this video

      No, I agree. He tended to crowd each and every enchainement with so many steps that his choreography always requires the tempo to be slowed down. Choreography should always fit the music and not the other way around IMO. I'm always amazed that the Paris Opera dancers can pull these off so well.

      thesleepingsoter exactly! That's the reason why I find very difficult to enjoy his choreographies, especially in a dramatic ballet like Romeo and Juliet. He sometimes made some lovely things with some ballabili for the corps de ballet, in Raymonda, Beauty and Swan Lake, but overall, for solos parts he just overly-enriched enchainment with steps, without any purpose... "less is more" I still think is a valid concept
