***** i dare you to name a few MotoGeo makes nice videos but nothing that can be called a review, the only channel that has reviews as good as yours is gizmag (if i remeber correctly, they are Australian) But trust me i'm subscribed to the "best" ones, and they just can't get it right, they are either too short or don't have enough info or sincerity, or they tell you to read the verdict on their site, like anyone is gonna do that. You just keep up the good work :)
***** 6 hours is a bit much, unless you include a personal test ride (for me that is), but up to 1 hour i'll still watch, if you can keep it interesting enough.
I've watched hundreds of reviews on here. Hey man you just might be the best bike reviewer on RUclips. Good, clear, intelligent, entertaining and great production quality and best of all from a guy who obviously loves and knows his bikes. Great work and a pleasure to watch!
I owned a V-Rod Muscle for a few years and I LOVED it. I took some pretty long trips on it, with the optional windshield and some saddlebags. I threw Metzelers on it and holy shit, it handled so well. This thing is a rocket ship. When you and your crew are cruising at 80 mph, you can flick your wrist and DISAPPEAR in front of them. I never took my wife on it once, or any other passenger either. I ride solo. The instruments and headlight never bothered me. The Muscle model looks so much better than the plain V-Rod IMO.
Just bought a new V-Rod Muscle a couple weeks ago. My goodness, all I think about is the next time I can go riding! I owned a Street 750 as my first bike, which was great and a lot of fun. But the V-Rod oozes sexiness, power and comfort. It's a work of art! I watched Lemmy's review before buying. I haven't had the same complaints as he did with the gauges and headlights. But I understand as a journalist, he needs to find cons along with the pros.
doug ireland You sir are correct!!!! I was really surprised how complete he was, so many "reviewers" never say anything critical about the bike they're riding, like everything about every bike is just great. I'm really glad he mentioned those pegs, I saw those right away and thought how awkward that would be for me to ride because I'm only 5'9". Great job Lemmy, keep it up!!!
doug ireland Came here to leave the same comment. By far the best bike or otherwise review I've seen around. Thorough and entertaining to watch. Very well done Lemmy!
I own a 2013 Night Rod special 1. When riding a bike with that much power you shouldn't even worry about glaring at the speedo. If you love life. 2. If you are tall the pegs are fine 3. Because of the rake you need to learn to turn in sooner at low speeds. 4. Professionals turn with their body weight. Not just arms or just hips 5. Turn as you would with a sport bike. It'll put a smile on your face. 6. This is a solo bike. With some squat exercises the girls will be fine. 7. Headlight is fine. You could adjust the light a little higher (easy) or go with a day maker. 8. Vrod looks better without the rear pegs 9. This bike really sticks 10. Best motorcycle I've ever owned. It's true this motorcycle needs a little getting used to when turning in low speeds but when achieved it's a blast in corners. It's a sling shot from a full stop. First motorcycle to make me dizzy from take off. I've had motocross, sport, and cruisers. Most fun bike I've ever owned along with the Sv 650 buts looks Waaaaaay better. Will never sell this beast.
I really llike the way you guys review things. Your bike reviews are so much better, so much more informative and contextual than the average tit that simply straps a GoPro to his lid, goes out on a formation dealership ride, mumbles some idiotic crap into his mic, repeats himself endlessly, doesn't go round any corners and never goes above 55mph. Those style of "reviews" are legion on RUclips but your style, with real information and real impressions are rare. I also like the editing and subtle background music. Keep it up guys. Any chance of a review on the Yamaha Super Tenere? Cheers
Revzilla is by far the best source for motorcycle video reviews on RUclips and they still give more information about the product that they are reviewing on their site. I hope bigger "motorcycle reviewing channels" could learn from this. Most of them only review the bike when a new model arrives an ride it for a week or two and the next review is for the next year. They don't quite say what bike is for you and what bike they only say what the bikes lack without saying what you can do to make it better. They say that bike A has better accessories than bike B so you will choose bike A and make bike B a less viable option cause they are taking small flaws to the bike as a whole to not buy it.
I bought one 6 months ago and LOVE it more than my sportbikes. BUT the biggest downfall is the gas guage. It will tell me it's on E but I fill up and it only takes 3Gal. I did run it down to where it took 4.6 once. Fix the gas gauge and it would be pretty much golden! It's such a tease and well known issue.
Well, this bike has been on my radar for years. I've been a sportbike rider since ever being licensed, but the look of the V-Rod struck me in some kind of way. This review was great, and today I went out to finally test ride the Muscle. Dammit, I brought it home with me. Power is good, and I'm 6' even, and I was very comfortable on it. I'm going to have to take a week or so to get used to those forward pegs, but when my feet do finally find them, it's a nice fit. Thanks for your insights. It gave me a good starting point on what to expect.
I have owned Harley Davidson motorcycles starting with a new 80/80 Wideglide then a Heritage Softail and then a V-Rod, Night Rod.The V-Rod was the best bike that I have owned and the fact that the Motor Company has deleted the V-Rod range from its line up has pissed me off no end.I fitted mid mount foot pegs and the bike was ideal for every occasion. But now due to my old age and having the privilege to ride withdrawn due to health problems my Night Rod is the last motorcycle that I will ever own and I am so fucking heartbroken about that, added to my problem is the sheer disappointment knowing that 2017 was the V-Rods swansong year. What a bad move discontinuing the build of such a brilliant motorcycle and in my opinion Harley will wait a long long time to equal it.
@@sivvinod3187 it is. Its just your average Yamaha but is made by harley its smaller and just about as powerful as the 883. V Rod is still the best stock muscle bike Harley made
Harley spent 6 years designing V-Rod. They pioneered many engineering design changes away from conventional Harleys. Hydro-forming a one piece frame for ecstatic appearance & strength , placing the radiator in a highly efficient location as part of the package to allow the air Cooled engine to last 100K Miles+ is a first!
I ride a Harley Davidson Rocker C around the beautiful island of Cyprus! Which also has a 240 rear Tyre and forward pegs! I'm only five feet five and find the handling on the bike the same as this V-Rod, rock solid! I have lowered the seat and changed the bars to improve the ride. I did go look at a earlier V-Rod 2003 Anniversary model with the smaller tank, frame, engine and rear Tyre to buy as a second bike but the offer I put in on the bike was not accepted! Another great honest review keep them coming!
Really great review. I own a Muscle and love it. Thank you for the honest assessment. Not your typical Harley but I like being different. I do not understand that you could not put more fuel at fill up. It does hold 5 gallons , but the fuel gage is not accurate as most vrodders use the odometer.
I am from NJ. Looks a LOT like a drive through the Res, or parts, then looks like you're headed into Bergen Cty. The tags on the bike tipped me, of course. Anyway, great vid! You do a great job of balancing praise, with honest critique. Can tell you're being 100 honest here, and I appreciate that.
This was stellar. As nearly everyone else has mentioned, one of the best bike reviews I've seen. Not only was your delivery and knowledge impeccable but the filming was fantastic! I'm not at all a Harley guy but your enthusiasm really warmed me to the idea of a v-rod. Lastly I have to say; I love Anthony and his cool guy smoothness (Dude has some serious charisma) but Lemmy, you keep this up and he's gonna be fighting for his fan base. ;) This was rock solid, relatable and freakin' fun as hell. I can't wait for the next one!!
I wish I was as short as you. I can't enjoy most of HD's lineup because they've reduced the rider's triangle so much I have no room. You have no idea how hard it is to find a comfortable bike being 6'5".
That was one of the better bike reviews that I've seen on RUclips and I watch a Lot of them. It was more in depth and detailed than many of the bike magazines and the road portion gave a real world, everyday user scenario that most bikers encounter. I would definitely like to see and hear more reviews from you and hopefully on some of the other brands out there. Good job!
I agree about the speedo, I can never see the speed I'm doing. Maybe it's time for LED speedos. I also upgraded the headlight bulb. Recommend Air ride suspension for rear, the stock springs are a little rough.
Lemmy, it was great to hear what you had to say about this bike. I'm considering moving to this or another power cruiser within the next few months and I think you've sold me on this. With mid controls, of course, ha!
***** Any chance you may be reviewing the Scout any time soon? That is another bike that really tickles my fancy. Great review man, looking forward to more!
I test rode one of these new ones recently... I love this bike. One of the reasons is that the footpegs are forward so my large frame fits it. The other is that there is so little in front of you when you are screaming down the road that it literally feels like you are flying without a bike... just flying. What a cool bike. Not for everybody, and it has very similar technology as the V65 magna had many years ago... and is about the same horsepower and speed... but this one is a Harley, made in America and absolutely beautiful.
Good video , I love the vrod but a 3 1/2 gallon tank doesnt cut it for me . The rest of the bikes had ass, harley screwed up by ending this bike . This machine is a great start at harley performance
This is why I like Lemmy's reviews. He doesn't hold back, or showcase any real bias. I could trust this guy's reviews with the utmost confidence. Granted, V-Rods are absolutely NOT my style, at all. I like the Softails, myself, and have no problem with Sportsters. But after a review like this, I can at least respect the V-Rod, for what it is.
It's funny, with my height I like how far forward the pegs were. That is one thing I liked about the bike. They don't make bikes with forward enough pegs factory wise.
dafobra I love the looks of the V-rod. I sat on 3 different versions of it, many moons ago, and just not a fan of cruisers. I guess when time is right and able to pick up 3rd bike, will be looking for an adventure bike. (R1 is awesome...but effing hurts after a few hundred miles)
Burner719 the looks are what does it... a buddy parked his 2012 (or so) VRod Muscle in my garage for almost 7 months. I started it up every now and again and sat on it.. I would have to get used to it coming from a sport bike but I think I probably could.. the forward controls being moved back as ***** said would make it a much easier sell...
I still want this bike a decade later. I like the styling & the only reason why id choose it over any other power cruiser is because of the customization options, till today there is a ton of stuff for this bike!
Yes, a great review, like your style! For those of you considering a used V-Rod and still want handling, good suspension, brakes and more ground clearance and mid controls, check out the 06-07 VRSCR Streetrod, it is a real sport roadster. Steeper fork rake, Showa suspension, Brembo brakes. No other V-Rod can hang with it in the curves. And one of Cycle Worlds picks for best used bikes.
Bought a new '16 Muscle back in June. I absolutely LOVE the bike. Rock solid, head turner, faster than necessary! V Rod is the best bike ever made by H-D in my opinion. So needless to say I'm devastated that H-D is discontinuing V-Rod after next month (Oct. 2016). I know in a few years or so when I want a new and/or improved one, they won't be there :(.
I call the V Rod "the Thinking Man's Harley". I'm certainly atypical of their customer base - AGATT, stock pipes, wave to everybody, ride with Honda guys, etc. Now that HD has discontinued the V Rod (and Revolution engine), this will be my first and last Harley. Their 45 degree V Twin engines are antediluvian in my opinion.
Amen. I didnt realize they had just discontinued it. Bought mine in 2013 (albeit they havent changed it). I totally agree with your statement. It is awesome. Will never sell it then.
I totally agree. On top of it it was a great evolution, for Harley - in my view - in the sense that instead of building new bikes looking like the ones they built 50 yrs ago, on mechanics that were not that greatly upgraded, they finally had released a new modern bike with performance, awesome designs that still was totally a Harley and had an unparalleled image. A bit sad. I hope they come up with a new version in a year or so with more HP and bader meaner looks.
It might not seem like saying much. But the fact is it is an amazing bike. It also gets a lot of surprised looks from people who can't believe it's a H-D
I am retired Army guy that love to ride to find happiness.. I have a 2018 CBR1000RR and I love it. Saying that this is the only HD that I would ever consider to buy. Great review!
The gas tank holds 5 gallons of gas. I have a 2009 Night Rod Special with almost 70K miles that I put on it. The only thing that I can complain about is the fuel gauge. Harley will not change the design either. The fuel gauge, and the reserve, lies to you once the fuel level goes under a half tank.
I now have a benchmark for a great bike review... Seriously, Lemmie, you put all other reviewers to shame... I look forward to see more reviews from you...
This was great. I just saw the R3 review as well and that was very nice too, though as a cruiser rider, this was more applicable to me. Lemmy is now my favorite moto reviewer. I happen to share the same "body type" so it was easy for me to visualize myself on the bike as I watched. I do hope to see him on some other american brands and metrics.
Agree 100% with the review beneath mine. Reviews by RevZilla, whether by the "big" guy or the other guy (name escapes me at the moment) are the best I've ever seen, and I've seen countless others both by individuals and by professionals. You guys do it all, and you do it incredibly well!! love the candor, and evaluation both personal and objective that the reviewers always give, and the communication skill is best bar NONE, of all cycle reviewers I've ever seen. Video production is excellent as well, sound quality is perfect, delivery of commentary is clear, precise, no-nonsense and scripted just so damned good!!! My congrats on the site and this review as well, as it matches my personal experience from a 20 minute ride taken on a Harley ride a long experience ride.
The high-test fuel is a big thing for me. I run that all the time, but if you do you really have to hunt down pumps with individual lines. If you buy high-test you'll get what's in the hose and filter first. Which is garbage fuel. So 1/3rd of what you put in the tank is junk, and you're paying for good. It bugs me endlessly.
Best Harley ever built. I have to agree about Harleys, I had a 96ci fatboy and the was slow for everything, heavy and steady, I love that the Fatboy feels like a tank, this bike has double horse power and torque with a smaller engine, this thing has the reaction no other Harley has, fun to ride, in top gear you push and go, good looking bike, Porsche changed the classic Harley V 45 degrees into a V 60 degrees engine, double cam each head and 4 valves per cylinder, water cooled. Im 6,4 and the controls are perfectly fine for me, I only changed the pegs for bigger ones. Controls are forward yes probably short people get in some weird "C" shape position but if you are tall you are fine.
FANTASTIC REVIEW LEMMY! I’m Sooooo tired of Experts complaining about the weight of the bike. You’re a REAL EXPERT, and I APPRECIATE YOUR PROFESSIONALISM!! I have the 2016 Night Rod in vivid (shiny) Black. I wouldn’t trade my Night Rod for ANYTHING! It’s GREAT to hear that you live in Philly too!!
One thing you forgot to mention is that the VRod Muscle was co-designed by Porsche. You can see these design cues all over the bike. My dad has an 09 and I've put about 100-200 miles on it (both for fun and commuting) and, coming from an 04 ZX-6R, I really badly wanted to trade it in for one of these. I sold my ZX-6R a few months ago and I'm contemplating buying my dad's VRod Muscle whenever he's done with it.
Just an FYI -- you filled up at a blender pump. One hose, multiple octane levels. But the hose and assorted plumbing can carry up to about 4 gallons of whatever the previous customer pumped. So while you paid for the expensive stuff, you probably got mostly swill. Look for a station with multiple hoses. Around here (NM) some Valero stations have dedicated lines.

Just wanted to say that the headlight issue was, atleast for me, a positioning issue. It is easy to setup wrong. When I got mine the light was looking pretty much right at the ground and I could only see 5 car lengths ahead of me with the regular lighting and 8-9 with the high's but I kind of got frustrated with the light and smacked it and realized that it is basically a vertical swivel between just 2 screws one on either side. once I corrected the positioning of the head light itself i could see the entire road ahead of me.
After watching this video hundreds of times, I finally got my V-Rod Muscle last week and it’s everything I ever dreamed of, a little heavy, but I’m perfectly fine with the forward controls on my 5’9’’ height.
As someone who is currently in the process of buying a VR, this was hands-down, the best review, and will probably put the VR rod over the top as far as my next purchase
Hey RevZilla, Can you do more Motorcycle Reviews. Like, lots more bikes from all the categories. This channel should be the Motorcycle Review King. Hope to see more bike review from you. Another great video. Lots of good information. Thanks for posting.
Great review. I'm sure many of us want to see similar reviews on the other mentioned muscle cruisers. Coming from a sportblike rider it would be nice to have a muscle cruiser for long rides.
I just rode one for the first time. It felt very lite compared to my sporty. It's a ripper, fun, fast, but I'm 5'7" I could barely reach the front sets.
It's a great engine.Too bad they didn't try it in a different sort of bike. I never liked the Pro-Street bikes. Raked out with too big a rear tire makes long sweepers a fight with the bike. I never thought twin shocks on a modern design like that looked right. Love the gauge cluster but yes it is too small.
I love them but HD why did you stop making them they held the highest selling place for a 1250 twin in Australasia for the last 3 or 4 years and just because they didn't sell in Europe which I find hard to believe or didn't you advertise the fact they're Porsche powered because there is your selling point right there it us the reason I bought one.
ANother good review. Not ridden the muscle but have ridden a Nightrod and agree with everything, even the mid pegs. What pissed my missus off most was she (at 4'10' and 25'' inside leg) could ride the night rod, if it weren't for those ridiculosuly far away pegs. Di d try a street rod a few years back, now that had the mid pegs and a more street orinatted position, only problem was it also had a higher seat which I think upset the balance a bit. Nice bike though.
For me, in terms of looks I never really liked the V-Rod range, although bike builders all over the world have created some beautiful customs over the years. In the Australian bike magazine Live to Ride, for a while it seemed like every other issue featured some spectacular V-Rod custom on the cover. Look for the covers for issues 364, 340, 309 if you'd like to see some examples.
This is just a great review with a good honest approach to tell the good and the bad point with evidence to show what you mean. Awesome Lemmy please do more.
Great Review!! I especially like how you don't talk with your hands much while on the road. There's something about others that speak with their hands while you can't see their lips moving that comes across as douchey. Looking forward to your other reviews!
Great review Lemy. Something you didn't mention was the limited ground clearance. I just bought a 2017 VRod Muscle and the bottom scrapes over speed humps, the pegs scrape around corners and so do my $1800 Vance and Hines pipes :(

Hey Lemmy love your videos. I was wondering as an aspiring motorcyclist looking to get into it for the very first time at age 48 if u think this is ok for a first bike. I have done like your other videos show to go and sit on as many as u can. The best bike my dream bike is a no go by everyone saying I will die if I get it. (ROCKET 3). BEST FIT HANDS DOWN WHEN I SAT ON IT. Oh I am a big guy 6'3" at 290 ish. All these starter bikes feel horrible to just sit on. Makes me not even want to ride it. Three bike I have any kind of interest in and 1. Rocket 3, V Rod,. I won't go into the sport cruzer zx14 that I also love. But according to anyone I shouldn't be buying anyone of these. I am so confused and almost talking myself out of even trying to get into this hobby. Please let me know what your thoughts are. Been watching a lot of your vids and they are by far the best most enjoyable and informative video out there. Thx
I rode one this past Saturday with a Vance and Hines slip on and Oh man this thing sounds amazing! The engine is unbelievably smooth - much smoother than the Night Rod I rode last year for some reason.
Surprising, because except the color and some tiny differences, from a mechanical point of view, I reckon they are similar. The Nightrod specs 2 more HP, though.
So here we are, mid-January, and I've just found this review. HOW on Earth did it take me so long to find this?!? Your reviews are so good! I'm a subscriber! Sacrilege. On the other hand... it's mid-January and I'm getting a motorcycle review. Excellent timing. :-D
I bought a 2014 V-Rod Muscle Amber Whisky in February. I am annoyed at myself and Powder Keg Harley Davidson (Mason, Ohio) for having purchased this bike. Basically the bike is modestly fast on the straights but you have to slow down to first gear if you want to power out of a turn. Lemmy I've watched many of your reviews and you were the guy that sold me on this bike. Unfortunately I have to disagree with you on a few points. This by no means a commuter, it's 700 pounds of heavy ponderous thick that will not dart through traffic. He calls the bike a roadster, but I found the bike at lower revs is completely lackluster. He states that the bike has good traction. On this point I would have to agree, the very expensive tires are very gluey to the road. However, I feel that it should be noted, that you have to drop into first or second gear in order to make any turn beyond 45 degrees. Lemmy mentions the wonderful fat tire on the rear end that adds to stability and acceleration, it should be addressed that these tires are not by any means inexpensive. I hit a bit of road debris that required the replacement of both tires, the pair being north of $650. Thankfully insurance covered it. As to the brakes I have no real complaints. The bike seems to stop appropriately, again while traveling straight. In turns, you're SOL. Lemmy loves the fact that the bike "cranks out 123 horsepower at the mill". Ok Lemmy, it's 123 horse with an almost 700lbs bike. If you put a JATO (Jet Assisted Take Off) on a cement truck, yes, it might move a bit. With its weight it's not going to outpace bikes with half the displacement. On the point of the throttle he's correct. The bike isn't near awake at 2500rpm. Or 3500... maybe 4000rpm it will open a sleepy eye or two. The fact is that you have to ride at 5kRPM to recognize what power the bike has. And if you do that, good luck to the whole "commuter bike" idea. Riding this bike for fun will run you about 28mpg. PREMIUM. 5 gallon tank. You will fill the bike up every time you ride it. If you are sweet on the chick at the counter at the Speedway, please buy this bike. "This is the first bike I've unintentionally wheelied"... Are you kidding me?? Were you going down a 45 degree grade in San Francisco?? If nothing good can be said about this bike it's the fact that it's glued to the road (in a straight line). I've rolled on the throttle and will admit that the front end gets a bit light, but never off the ground. The Seat: It's actually quite comfortable, even on long rides. If you're going to bring your special person on a trip, best make sure he/she has their own bike. This is what people in the car world call a "+2", that is to say it's a coupe, but has useless back seats so you don't have to claim it as such on insurance! Ergonomics: Lemmy points out the fact that the foot pegs are garbage on the bike. I whole heartedly agree! On my rides I would pray for longer, straighter roads so that I could put my feet on the passenger pegs and ride comfortably. Even then, I was constantly worried that my shoes would melt on the exhaust pipes. On the V-Rod Muscle, front pegs are for no-fun stability, brakes and shifting, the rear pegs are when you want to lean into corners, have fun, and be able to maneuver. Instrumentation: I didn't feel like the instrument panel on the V-rod was too difficult to read. The tachometer was pretty apparent and on which I was mostly focused. If you wanted to know how fast you were going, you can glean that from the speedo fairly easily. The fuel gauge was completely useless. I say again. USELESS. Fill the tank up and it'll read 3/4. Ride a little bit and it will read full. Ride a little more and it's 1/4. I would ride about 100 miles before I filled up regardless of what the idiot fuel gauge read. Headlight: Yes, it is garbage. It's always on, however once the sun begins to set you're rolling on the throttle as if you were worried the vampires and werewolves were going to get you. I imagine it's a fine running light, but to see anything you have to pop the brights, which aren't very good, limiting speed to 50mph at best. The Ride: "This bike is more than willing to get up and get rolling" meeeeeh. It'll power up at about 7kRPM, but with a limit of 9-10k you're kind of limited. Traction: "This thing is biting in pretty decently" again, not terribly impressed. This bike does very little in the corners, basically you're slowing down for a turn and squirting off in the straights after. Those wonderful tires? Again, they're about $650 for the pair, before you put them on. Enjoy. Again, Lemmy points out "this could be a pretty decent commuter" I'm not sure what Lemmy's commute is, but for those of us with commutes north of 20 miles this bike is a nightmare. You're feathering first gear literally the entire time. This bike is designed for one thing: Powering past some jerk on the freeway at speed trying to ace you out. Fast and straight, that's all you can expect. Also, are you seriously expecting folks to have this bike in the rain, snow, and salt? It's liquid cooled. Wonderful! The fact that a bike doesn't melt between my legs at a traffic stop is something I should be proud about? Good for you! I'm sorry but that seems to be a low bar to overcome. Of the purported 5 gallon tank, I've been able to drop 4.5 gallons in the tank easy. I know this because I have to fill the damn thing up literally every time I ride. Lemmy says 34-36mpg. I've been respectful of Lemmy thus far but I have to call complete bullshit on this. If he's hammering it half as hard as I am I can't get better than 30mpg on it, and that's if I'm riding conservatively. So the fuel is in the seat. That's just ducky! How new and wonderful! Just make sure the hose line doesn't hit your hot engine. Also, fun fact, the gas tank is plastic. Which in of itself isn't a bad thing, until you have Powder Keg Harley Davidson (Mason, OH) replace your rear tire and don't tighten the drive belt and it bores a hole in the tank. It was ever so much fun to realize that after I filled up that I was leaving a trail of gasoline like one of Wile E. Coyote's harebrained schemes, waiting to explode with a hilarious result. Let me say this in closing. I was so incredibly excited to buy what I felt to be an American icon. Harley Davidson just screamed USA and I wanted to support that brand. What I got was incredibly disappointing. It looks stylish, powers hard on the highway, but that's really all it does. Faster than a sport or sport tourer: No. Fuel efficient: No. Carve the curves: No. If this is Harley-Davidson's flagship bike, they have to do better.
Hey there! That's a nice write up. I gotta quick question for ya. So I'm about 6'1 or 6'2 (depending on who you ask) and I'm wondering if the mid control position might be too small for me. I haven't had the chance to test ride but before I do, I figured I'd ask ya if the mid controls would possibly feel cramped for someone my height. Thanks!!!
Finally!! A bike that LaPetite Lemmy LaMore actually fits:). If HD dosen't give you that bike, I think we all will have to contribute, and make a donation. I'm in, just give me the site. Nice review, keep up the good work Lemmy.
Hey I am new to the motorcycle world I loooove cruisers I have 2 questions 1- what do you think a novice should get if he is just starting ? 2- does having wide tires change the bikes performance in anyway or is it just a style thing?
That is a great review, full of terrific information and an honest and analysis of this awesome bike. Harley has no idea what they're doing obviously because they discontinued this monster, this is the Best of the Best of the Harley Davidsons. Instead of just canceling the V-Rod, they should have expanded the range to include sportier bikes and maybe even a more custom chopper-like bike with this engine. This engine is awesome, a regular Harley engine is equivalent to a lawn mower. Thank you for a fantastic review, I wish you could review every motorcycle because you do such a great job at it.
Lemmy please share your knowledge of engines and do a series of motorbike engine/parts explanations and how they work and interact with the other parts. love your videos btw. keep up the good stuff
Flat out awesome review. Quickly paced, well-narrated, slickly produced. The reviewer's comments are aptly worded. I will watch every review this guy does. I'm not even a cruiser guy, but I wanted to see a Revzilla produced review. I'm actually excited about seeing more from you guys. Pat yourselves on the back, gentlemen. This is a homerun.
You rock, Lemmy! The best bike reviewer who does not work for a motorcycle magazine (barnone, better than most of them). Very honest and thorough reviews, love your vids!
Great video-review. I test-rode a V-Rod in 2010. Too expensive for me. Beautiful to look at. Comfortable ride. The handling/turning/cornering felt off to me. More work to push it in the direction I wanted to go than it should have been. I thought the gas tank under the seat was weird, but I guess you get used to that. Never considered the lighting as I only rode it in daylight. I thought it was under-powered at the time, but I guess I wasn't on the Muscle version. I love that H-D made a bike that doesn't vibrate you out of your shoes and incorporated some newer tech & design to appeal to a different/younger market. In the end I got more bang for the buck from Honda.
***** It was new at the time, either 09 or 10. Price tag in the $15k range. It was very well balanced and performed very well in a straight line. I was unimpressed with acceleration from a stop and the difficulty in turns. It seemed to be designed for high end torque. I preferred the performance of the Fat Bob at the time, but not the overbearing vibrations. I went with the Honda VTX 1800F, and I love it. Bigger, More Power, Better Acceleration, Better Handling, Also Very Well Balanced, Much Lower Price. :-)
***** You didn't just say you were laughing at my bike, did you? ;-) Yeah, the VTX1800 does 0-80 in 'how the hell did I get here so quickly'. I often find myself trying to shift into a 6th gear that doesn't exist. You're right, it never feels like you're going as fast as you are because the bike is so stable. If VRODs aren't holding their value in the used market as well as other H-Ds, it's probably because they aren't what traditional H-D riders are looking for. VROD just doesn't fit the same H-D image. Lower demand + Cheaper competition.
I looked at this video a few times and said nah I'm not gonna watch this video but damnnnnnnnn. Great review sir. I just purchased a CVO v-rod and it's phenomenal. Great review and keep up the good work.
That's a killer bike. I like the looks of the Triumph Rocket III. I won't be ready for a steed like that for a little while but till then I'll just keep watching ZLA reviews. More props Lemmy! Revzilla sure knows how to pick em!
Now this is what an excellent bike review looks like! Great job Lemmy and Revzilla! I'm the first to admit that Harleys aren't my thing, but after watching the video I would totally consider a V-Rod. Also I have to agree on the footpeg placement and the quality of them. For the price they are asking, better and more functional ones should be standard not aftermarket.
Just a thought, some of the Tec reviews I watch on youtube will give links to everything that was seen in the video. If your riders are wearing gear you guys have or have reviews on, would be cool to link them in the description to the your guys Revzilla page or the review of it.
Lemmie, you need to give all the other bike reviewers some lessons, for top dollar of course.
***** i dare you to name a few
MotoGeo makes nice videos but nothing that can be called a review, the only channel that has reviews as good as yours is gizmag (if i remeber correctly, they are Australian)
But trust me i'm subscribed to the "best" ones, and they just can't get it right, they are either too short or don't have enough info or sincerity, or they tell you to read the verdict on their site, like anyone is gonna do that.
You just keep up the good work :)
***** 6 hours is a bit much, unless you include a personal test ride (for me that is), but up to 1 hour i'll still watch, if you can keep it interesting enough.

GREAT Review!
+MrWhatahelisdis Totally agree with you. ENJOY IT!!!
Thanks!
that was hands down the best motorcycle review i have ever seen on youtube, and i've seen a lot. more like this please.
doug ireland You sir are correct!!!!
@ZLA Lemmy v-rod is for me a long range riding bike not just a fast one
Real talk
I own a 2013 Night Rod special
1. When riding a bike with that much power you shouldn't even worry about glaring at the speedo. If you love life.
2. If you are tall the pegs are fine
3. Because of the rake you need to learn to turn in sooner at low speeds.
4. Professionals turn with their body weight. Not just arms or just hips
5. Turn as you would with a sport bike. It'll put a smile on your face.
6. This is a solo bike. With some squat exercises the girls will be fine.
7. Headlight is fine. You could adjust the light a little higher (easy) or go with a day maker.
8. Vrod looks better without the rear pegs
9. This bike really sticks
Cheers
+Nigel Tabb We have a huge list of bikes we'd like to review, so hopefully we can get to them all. Stay tuned! -DrewZilla
It's just really sad that they've stopped production on this beauty. I hope they bring this back.
I still remember watching how this bike was built on Natgeo or discovery
Lemmy, I believe you've found your calling in life. Great review.
Looking forward to more from you.
very funny
Well, this bike has been on my radar for years. I've been a sportbike rider since ever being licensed, but the look of the V-Rod struck me in some kind of way. This review was great, and today I went out to finally test ride the Muscle. Dammit, I brought it home with me. Power is good, and I'm 6' even, and I was very comfortable on it. I'm going to have to take a week or so to get used to those forward pegs, but when my feet do finally find them, it's a nice fit. Thanks for your insights. It gave me a good starting point on what to expect.
Same. I’m a Sport bike guy but these are beautiful.
The rod was a direct shot at the VMAX. You should get the original from Japan instead of waiting for Harley to do something.
@@patw9175 the VMAX is way way faster and has a much cooler engine
Lemmy makes the best bike reviews. He's such a natural. I often watch these videos just for his commentary.
My first Vrod is 2020 VRSCAW. no complaints!
Absolutely the very best Harley Davidson ever built.
@Gareth you're wrong.
@Drew K street 500? I thought that was just a smaller street 750.
@@sivvinod3187 it is. Its just your average Yamaha but is made by harley its smaller and just about as powerful as the 883. V Rod is still the best stock muscle bike Harley made
@@robertdrawdy3749 the rocket 3 seems to disagree lol. But yeah even I'd take the v-rod over other bikes, and I'm an import fan!!
@@Player1original best muscle bike "harley ever built" but i completly understand the rocket 3 is nuts
Harley spent 6 years designing V-Rod. They pioneered many engineering design changes away from conventional Harleys.
Hydro-forming a one piece frame for ecstatic appearance & strength , placing the radiator in a highly efficient location as part of the package to
allow the air Cooled engine to last 100K Miles+ is a first!
Good job!
Lemmy riding that Harley like it's a 250. Nice riding and review!
Hey man, we need more bike reviews!! Suzuki m1800r! Or 109r in the US.
I put the mid-control kit on my 2012... I love my VROD!
Just bought the 2012 10th anniversary edition from my brother and she's gooood.
Great review Lemmy... thats the one Harley I would even remotely consider..
dafobra I love the looks of the V-rod.
Then....I'd need a 4th bike :)
+dafobra (guess who may be test riding one next week?)
+DangleVonBallbag DVB! wow... bring the camera along!
I totally agree with everything you just said!
LoL ok
@@BNatoAk I don’t like the big windshields and baggers. I like a bike that looks more sporty.
2007 Streetrod here, yes I agree, fuel gauge is unreliable at times.
Lemmy's reviews are always stellar. Thanks for another mate.
I now have a benchmark for a great bike review... Seriously, Lemmie, you put all other reviewers to shame... I look forward to see more reviews from you...
Thanks... now I want a V-Rod more then I wanted one before!
Harley made a Street Rod (VRSCR) for only two years 2006 and 2007. That's the bike to get.
Im 6'3 and I found the foot pegs pretty comfortable.
The same $$$ got me a V Max, and an additional 80hp. If I'm buying a power cruiser, I want as much as I can get.
Should have made a 750-800 version naked upright with that technology. Beautiful engine!
While not the same engine, the new Street Rod 750 would fit the bill for a smaller liquid-cooled Harley. -DrewZilla
This was a great review, first review I've seen of a motorcycle on this channel. And it was great work, kept it "real", good job.

I did not know Revzilla did motorcycle reviews, and this was the first from them I've seen, nice.
Lemmy could you review the Harley SWITCHBACK? Thanks, your reviews hit the nail on the head everytime, you're the best...
Lemmy is a really good reviewer. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. thanks.
After watching this video hundreds of times, I finally got my V-Rod Muscle last week and it’s everything I ever dreamed of, a little heavy, but I’m perfectly fine with the forward controls on my 5’9’’ height.
I am 5'9" and didn't have any problems with the forward controls.
+Marvi Marv Stay tuned. We have another coming out soon! -DrewZilla
Great review. I'm sure many of us want to see similar reviews on the other mentioned muscle cruisers. Coming from a sportblike rider it would be nice to have a muscle cruiser for long rides.
Why Harley AXED this bike for a more traditional stance in the marketplace puzzles me ! Was this bike not selling ?
I just rode one for the first time. It felt very lite compared to my sporty. It's a ripper, fun, fast, but I'm 5'7" I could barely reach the front sets.
It's a great engine.Too bad they didn't try it in a different sort of bike. I never liked the Pro-Street bikes. Raked out with too big a rear tire makes long sweepers a fight with the bike. I never thought twin shocks on a modern design like that looked right. Love the gauge cluster but yes it is too small.
I would like Harley to start designing more bikes like this. I like muscle bikes, but like Lemmie I would want a set of rear or mids.
One of the best RUclips channels for scooter related communiques!! Thanks Lemmy!!
Yep I want one... but given the price... I'll stick to the good old V65 magna; it is just as fast.
Great Review!! I especially like how you don't talk with your hands much while on the road. There's something about others that speak with their hands while you can't see their lips moving that comes across as douchey. Looking forward to your other reviews!
Great review Lemy. Something you didn't mention was the limited ground clearance. I just bought a 2017 VRod Muscle and the bottom scrapes over speed humps, the pegs scrape around corners and so do my $1800 Vance and Hines pipes :(
Can you do a review on the best protective gear to wear in really warm weather

Because it was designed by Porche. I haven't ridden a V-Rod yet, but I own a Roadster, and I can hear the difference.
look up the history of the VROD on RUclips. It is a H-D designed motor that is now perfected and assembled by Porche.
***** I don't think the Night Rod has a slipper clutch like they put in the Muscle, that may be the difference he was noticing.
***** Well, it depends. Night Rod
2006-2007; 1130cc and NO slipper clutch. 2008 only; 1250cc with slipper clutch.
Thanks I've been debating about trading in my 05 cbr1000rr for vrod muscle
The Ride:
"This bike is more than willing to get up and get rolling" meeeeeh.
Thanks!!!
You do great motorcycle reviews Lemmie. Last time I wanted a Gold Wing. Now I want a Vrod. I guess you can't go wrong with either.
Finally!! A bike that LaPetite Lemmy LaMore actually fits:). If HD dosen't give you that bike, I think we all will have to contribute, and make a donation. I'm in, just give me the site. Nice review, keep up the good work Lemmy.
Outstanding job on the review! Could you review 2014-2015 Yamaha Stryker? Thanks.
Hey I am new to the motorcycle world I loooove cruisers I have 2 questions
1- what do you think a novice should get if he is just starting ?
Can you get a replacement headlight or a better bulb
Lemmy please share your knowledge of engines and do a series of motorbike engine/parts explanations and how they work and interact with the other parts. love your videos btw. keep up the good stuff
By and far the best motorcycle reviews you can find. Would love to see a Yamaha Stryker Review.
This is a homerun.
one of the most awesome reviews I've seen , definitely the point of view of a rider not an engineer designing a new bike.
Would it be possible for you to make a review on the Indian Chief Dark Horse?
joserubenvega Anything's possible. We'll probably mix it up a little first, though. -DrewZilla
You rock, Lemmy! The best bike reviewer who does not work for a motorcycle magazine (barnone, better than most of them). Very honest and thorough reviews, love your vids!
That's for the review. Was looking at one to buy and now I know what to do with the upgrades.
Awesome, Lemmy! Hope you get to try out the Diavel and do some comparisons.
You guys put some nice work into the review and it shows in the production values. Excellent job.
***** You didn't just say you were laughing at my bike, did you? ;-)
Yeah, the VTX1800 does 0-80 in 'how the hell did I get here so quickly'.
