  • It's been two years since I sent my Tag-Heuer Formula 1 watch to Tag for a full factory watch service. That included changing the battery and now it's time for a new battery as the watch stopped working. I decided to learn to change the watch battery myself and after watching a few videos on RUclips, I did it.
    I ordered a watch battery replacement tool kit and a watch band tool kit from Amazon, the total cost for both kits, including shipping, was $19. I also ordered some silicone grease for the o-ring, which was another $8. The watch battery, which I got at Walgreens, was $7.50. So my total cost to replace the watch battery in my Tag-Heuer Formula 1 watch was about $35 and I now I have the tools and parts to do it again or do other watch repairs.
    Using the watch repair tools I got from Amazon, it was very easy to first open the watch band to get access to the back. Then it was easy to open the back of the Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch, remove the old watch battery and install the new watch battery. I cleaned and applied new grease to the o-ring then closed the back of the watch and I am good to go for another two years.

    Thank you so very much for making this video. I appreciate you placing the tools used in the description. I bought the 'EasyTime Watch Battery Replacement Tool Kit', to finally change my Aquaracer battery myself. The adjustable remover was the exact size that I needed. Thanks!

    My watch lasted around 4 years on a battery and I took it back to jewelry place of purchase for a simple battery change, they would not do it and said only tag heuer should do it…. And it was gone for a couple weeks and cost 2-300$.. I get the servicing blah blah but it only needed a battery. That battery lasted less then 2 years. Imo, I think that tag heuer puts inferior batteries in to promote service. Not wanting to spend 3 hundy I had differant jeweler put in a battery for me… and they lasted a couple months. I’ve been changing batteries in my other watches for years… thanks for video, I’m gonna start doin same with my formula 1 tag heuer watch now I saw there was not a buried battery. (I’ve had an issue with an invictus I think it was and didn’t want same).

      Remember they clean it and replace the gasket and do other stuff when you send it into the factory. So I think it's worth it every few years to do that. But I also think it's okay to replace it yourself, but two or $300 is pretty reasonable for a thorough overhaul and cleaning and check up. Thank you very much for watching and please subscribe

      Thanks for watching it!! Same battery is still going strong. Take note of some people's comments that you should never touch the battery with your fingers.

    That vice ma-jig should have some sort of suction ma-jig to hold it firmly on the table while you work. Woulda liked to see that big rubber ball thingy too.

    • @FreddySherman
      @FreddySherman  Год назад

      They have more expensive ones, I was trying to keep the budget low. Same with the ball, it's to make unscrewing the back easier after you loosen it with the wrench thing.

      @FreddySherman  3 месяца назад

    Can you just take it to a jewelry store? How much would that cost to have them do it

    • @FreddySherman
      @FreddySherman  Год назад +4

      Yes of course you can do that, it would cost about $30 or $40, about the same price but since I did it myself I get to keep all the tools for future use.

      Thank you, I kind of learned that afterwards. FOr anyone else reading this comment, he is 100 percent right, the oil from your fingers can contaminate and add moisture both cause corrosion. Also never use metal tweezers, only plastic ones as metal can short it out.
