The Tesseract Ark looks kinda like that Bike-thing General Grievous used in Revenge of the Sith. Also, fun fact: That bit about Calgar using a Necron-Pylon as a weapon didn't mean he used a big pillar like a Club, he found one of those Pylon-AA Guns that was damaged, then turned it around on its base to have it fire at a Monolith. No, I don't know why the Necrons have two completely different things called "Pylon" either.
IronVader I really disliked the calgar story with the pylon. It just stopped the narrative progression and ‘believability’ of the rest of the story. Just turned it back into a yay marine win story.
Which still shouldn't have worked. Literally the most advanced AI in the galaxy can't tell that the thing it's firing at is it's own forces? I just think it's bad writing.
@@alexkaplan6581 Since when do AA-Guns have "the most advanced AI in the Galaxy"? Not even actual normal Necron-Warriors are intelligent in any way, why would their gun-platforms be? IronVader Very true but doesn’t make it good writing. The lore for necron equipment also includes if it’s too badly damaged it can auto teleport away or be recalled by the tombworlds AI systems or be directed both directly or indirectly to disengage, teleport away or self destruct by any of the tombworlds hierarchy.
Having assembled a seraptek heavy construct, it was odd. It wasn’t plagued by warping or bends, though I did need a touch of greenstuff at some of the joints. Really, it just doesn’t fit together well. The limbs are hell, and the body needs to be filled regularly. Also getting the legs to support the super heavy body limits your poses somewhat, as it can’t really stand without at least 4 contact points. I assemble a lot of FW stuff and this one was an oddball, just be prepared for any problems when you start, and have a heat scource, greenstuff and some files on hand when you get started.
It's funny, the Seraptek was my first Forgeworld unit and it was by far my funnest build I've ever done! I'd love to build another. Can't say the same for stuff like the Tesseract Vault & Monolith, Tomb Blades...etc.
My thoughts on the first model: I thought the necrons in the lore plugged into their vehicles, and in essence became the vehicles and used their cameras (hence the green orbs in the front, that's how it would see) Just a thought. Great vid, always fun to go over FW stuff
So if youve never seen or held a pylon in person ill forgive you but that pylon is packed with glyphs and small details. Its just big so the pic on the site doesnt do it justice.
so the tomb sentinel had a brother, the tomb "stalker" one is a melee varient, one is ranged, the stalker also had a different head, which sucks it was the one yeeted cause its head was 100x better IMO, hopefully they give you both heads in the kit now.
The Scythe fighters do look like Cylon Raiders. And no in the orginal series the Cylon Raiders were piloted by 3 Cylons. I will go back to my moms basement now lol.
As always, an amazing video - this series is a great one to tune in to when you just want to sit back and relax for a bit (your casual commentary really makes it)! I have the White Dwarf issue where they show the Tesseract Ark being designed/sculpted, and, if I remember correctly, I'm fairly sure that they took the back end of the Ghost Ark and shaped a big block of resin to make the front panel. To be perfectly honest, I find it a bit of a lazy design (and IDIC Beer - not sure if promoting channels in the comments is OK, but I'll edit the comment if it's not - did a great video on how to make your own using plastic kits).
Buahaha I grabbed one of the last Tomb Stalkers when they reopened Forgeworld back in april. Woke up at 2am and got lucky. Wish I could have grabbed the Tomb Citadel too... :(
@@Kirioth Agreed 100%! I wanted one to make it the centerpiece of a mainly canoptek army for my display case... but now I cant get it... *shrugs* Got newer necron models though so I guess its fine.

I always liked the lore and personal designs of the Newcrons, but the direction GW went with their vehicles was partly a misstep. The strongly geometric designs and smooth obsidian surfaces conveyed technology and materials advanced beyond our means. This was really strong with the Pylons and Monoliths, and have continued into the Doomsday Arks, Doom Scythes and Starstele. But the Tomb Blades, Triarch Stalker, and derpy Command Barge have very obvious joints, engines, and wiring & piping. Forge World does better at sticking with the uncomplicated silhouettes, although they trade off the pseudo-stone material for a steel coating of varying sheen.
Honestly my biggest problem with a few older models is I don't want to do all the detail painting just to have the eye immediately drawn to the green plastic ring pop in the middle
The Tomb Sentinel used to be a Tomb Stalker it had two gauss flayers on each side of its head and the display image was it crawling over a destroyed Tau Piranha. Of which I can find no evidence it actually came with so expensive terrain to do yourself. Seems to have disappeared around 2017-2018.
I bought the tesseract ark a few years back, and yeah, the giant shield does warp a little tiny bit on the top and the side wings, plus the edges can be a bit bulging with uneven edges, takes a lot of shaving back with a sharp knife. BUT still a nice model! The rest of the model is pretty much the normal command barge model and is perfect.
Cool, I was just reloading though this range yest as the only thing I’ve not got a proper figure for is the flyer :/ With the ark I painted data screens on the inner face of the slab plate. The funny thing the plate gave it better toughness and saves then it was nerfed. :/ Regarding the pylons, the large pylon had design elements of the monolith with the ribs, crystal etc and been mentioned else where it as some details you may not have seen due to its size and how it was photographed. The figure is designed to move up and down the curve and spin on the base due to it being a comms device rather then a weapons platform.
