    Mandy, This was very educational. On a seamless pattern the blanket size wouldn't matter. But, if you used a single, centered image (between) the border stitching, would you have to change the design process somehow? I'd think because the ratio between a 30x40 and a 50x60 is different, that it would not create the same design on both blankets, especially horizontally. If you wanted both sizes to look exactly alike, wouldn't the larger blanket sort of not fill the area in the same way ? Thanks for all the time you take to share with your viewers. It's greatly appreciated!

    Ok Mandy, so I have watched ALL of your videos x3 bc I LOVE them and your calm, thorough voice and workflow! I’ve commented and you have replied and I have read all the others comments and questions and I think I have found a few answers from there, so I am desperate to make a personalized blanket. And I’m about to give up-im depressed and desperate!! I feel so stupid and it’s overwhelming took me days I have wasted without progress and I am getting nowhere and less motivated bc I don’t want to just sale shirt designs!! So, you are my last hope! I would like to use a graphic design on a blanket like from CF and if this question ends up being impossible or maybe too hard -I maybe I could just use some clip art from there or Canva. So, one if I wasn’t doing a repeating pattern and I wanted to try for example to add a child’s name do I put it on the last image in the corner? Will it allow me to change for other names if ordered?? Bc once I save it it won’t all that? Would I use a darker font so visible or erase out some elements so the name is really visible? Like how would you add a -dog name to the blanket you designed in this video? I know this is a lot, but you are the only one I think may take time to answer. Secondly, I really want to do a child’s milestones blanket-do I put one big image in the middle and arrange it sideways or have a different size to make rectangles like 5000x6000? Then with the main big image in middle or even on one side -depending if the numbers for each mo of age was all in one side or even around the main image in the middle of blanket-would I still use 5000x5000 with blankets being more rectangular? How do I make that large enough to put in printify? Slide the bar to max like you told one of the above comments for ensuring that it fits big size blanket? Number 2 what am I doing wrong that won’t allow me to edit image for personalization or move elements so I can make names visible? Obviously, I’m saving something wrong and turning it into an image-not a template. I don’t know if you understand or others reading this can help me. I’ve saw a lot of blankets with names all over it, random fonts basically like using shape cloud in CF but they only allow one font but multiple color palette-but these ppl have multiple fonts. Plus elements such as an elephant or owl, ect basically like the one you have above but with name in all different fonts through out. Are they using another tool besides Canva or CF shape cloud? Or do they create one template that they go in and manually change each name all over the blanket on every order? Gesh, I know that was A LOT and I’m SO Sorry! Any help, advice from you or others would be soooo greatly appreciated! I am so defeated right now trying to make something unique enough that stands out that ppl want to buy from a NEW shop with no reviews! Thank you in advance! In the above video are those elements you started with from Canva or had you download that file if so how did you move those elements around throughout the tutorial?

    I was able to create a pattern and got a sample. Thank you! What I found is that Velveteen minky blanket is thin and light. It must be washed before use as it caused me sneezing. Printing was beautifully done, but package looked cheap. I wonder if Minky blanket (not Velveteen, but a plain Minky) is thicker as it is more expensive. I typically use the 5000 square by default when designing anything since that ensures that the image will be big enough for nearly every product I need it for. Unless you’re working with a giant tote or need it to fit a very specific design in a specific area then you should be safe with 5000 😊

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад +1

      You could try using the pattern creator in Printify once you've uploaded the design - this will help fill out the rest of the design area with the same pattern without having to distort the original image. Alternatively, if you have Canva Pro you could try doubling your pattern and resizing to improve the resolution a little. So if the design from CF is 3000x3000px - create a canvas in Canva that's 3000x6000, paste your design in *twice* to essentially create your own bigger pattern template for a blanket to fill the entire space (zoom in and make sure there's no white space between the two images and that they line up), and then when you go to download it you can max out the export size to create a bigger file. It's a little tricker with an existing pattern, but one of those methods should help :)

    Hey, Stacy again 😂 When you do your last check (2nd page) do you normally download with a transparent background? Can this technique be be used for garment POD and digital papers? And lastly, do we download as a png or the svg to printify? One guy only used the free elements when he done his (to be able to edit images (I think) and he said he recommended the SVG download, but He done his method in 3 downloads to get end result (he needs to watch your method 😅) yours is x100 simpler and faster! And he was using Printful so he said he had to download as PDF print download. Maybe that’s only for Printful? But I think he did it all in canva instead of moving them in Printful. But I understand his reasoning for the editing process and svg for printing-how do you recommend since I didn’t see how you downloaded. I think his channel name is His name is Darren Meredith if you wanna watch to understand my questions. His video came up when I typed in making patterns in canva. Thanks again Mandy!!!

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад +2

      If you don’t want a colored/white background then you would want to do transparent, otherwise if you want to keep it then a normal download is fine. I’ve always used PNG for Printify with zero issues. There’s nothing wrong with svg, it’s sometimes just a matter of what the printer needs and what it’s being used for (SVG is a Scalable Vector Graphic, which means you can resize it and make it bigger with fewer issues, but for Printify purposes it’s not required) 😊

      Some of the AOP totes can be tricky! Sometimes I will make the repeating pattern in Canva separately (take your completed seamless pattern, upload back into Canva as an image, and then copy and paste multiple times to create the repeating effect). Save that, then upload twice into Printify - once in the correct direction, and then rotate the second one so that the final print is right side up. A few extra steps, but usually does the trick when the pattern maker doesn’t cooperate on certain templates!

I spoke with Printify and they said I may need to upload each element (up to 20) which is fine but I am nervous that it will take forever to get each “square” would take forever or be off in the design. Do you know an easier way bc I want the entire blanket to look like patchwork. Nothing repetitive or cut off. I see them on Etsy and idk how or which design tool. I figured if anyone knows how to do this is YOU!! Please I know a lot of us has asked more info about different blankets. Kelly from Therapy Design did a video in canva to Printful and she optimized it for resolution and it’s a great/appreciated video but it’s not all of what I am asking for but it did help a lot for that type. It’s hard to make products for big artboard for large designs. Ty for ANY info.

      It depends a bit on what you’re trying to design, as some things will behave better than others. You could create it in the same approximate rectangular ratio in Canva just smaller (around 4660x3912) so that it fits within Canva specs, and then export it from Canva as an svg. SVGs are scalable which means when you import it into Printify it should be ok. For my very large designs I would also sometimes use Illustrator to get access to a bigger art board (though I am admittedly not an Illustrator expert and it’s definitely not my preferred route).

      @@studiomdesignsco oh my you could have possibly solved my problem with reminding me to download as an SVG!! If I’m not mistaken you may have said that in one of your other videos!! I reached out to Printify today and had the greatest convo with a rep and believe me I mentioned that you were my most favorite YT expert in every way and they were pleased that I had so much good to say about you, how thorough and helpful you are on here (in comments) as well! That I have NO idea how you do everything that you do, let alone have time for me and your free courses are the best courses I have EVER had access to and again I must say FREE!! You give us so much insight, inspiration and knowledge it’s crazy-just how comforting you are in reminding us it’s ok to ask, mess up ect just try and do it! And I find myself so frustrated alone trying to do this and I inspire to replicate your methods and workflow!! Anyway-I don’t mean to go on and on but it is true and I want you to know you are helping sooo many people!
      I am not a PS or illustrator person by no means. I think Kittl has a bigger artboard than Canva but as I said I’m yet to figure out how to make it work with blank artboard to be so precise like you can in canva. Idk how Drew pasted the boxes he used in the baby announcement poster he designed a month or so ago? He moved that video in like 6.5 min and when that happens I get lost easily ha! So, if I want it like 6400x8400 I think I should cut in half? Or is that how you got your dimensions? The issue I had with Printify was not allowing me to pull the design downwards. It allowed me to shrink it then left a lot of blank space below. I tried to duplicate it but then it would not overlap correctly. I suppose I could have sent to back for the area I wasn’t needing? I hope if I do it with svg it will cover the whole print area and not be off anywhere bc like I said I don’t want to cut anything off. And when you do personalization in Printify do you add the text layer box inside printify so you can change it there? Thank goodness the rep helping me noticed that I actually uploaded a shirt that said “custom” but it was an actual part of the design I uploaded, there wasn’t a separate layer in Printify for me to change the design for their info, so had someone ordered it-I would have went back into canva-changed it and uploaded it bc I didn’t make a template like you said to do, but apparently the buyer would have received the one that said “custom” on it 😫 maybe not if I would have noticed that I couldn’t re upload it? I really have to watch your video again on how to do that! Back to blanket The only option outside PS she had was upload each element and design it in printify and that’s a lot of work for a blanket that may not sale, but I am happy it didn’t work bc I would have listed it with the “fake” baby name, ect and then that’s what the person would have got if I didn’t catch that so I made sure I moved my product to manual for now. She said I can upload it but do my custom as a layer in Printify-but idk if I can add fonts. If so, I guess that would be faster. There is so much to learn. She gave me 3-4 design links to read. Anyway, I won’t hold you up i will try to do it using svg but if it doesn’t work I may let you know what it did and maybe you can lead me in right direction again haha or maybe just give up on it. I wanted to try something new and if it’s too hard for a beginner then it may be time wasted. Mandy TY for your help!!

      What I mean is I can upload my jpeg lists to Etsy with it being in the design BUT before I list it I need to make a template like you do OR create the layer box in Printify (if they have a font I like) and make the change there. Then push it through?? I’m back to being scared to do personalized things. You do yours a tad differently in your videos than what she told me to do and I think both are right it’s preference maybe?
      And as far as the blanket if I download as svg do you think when it allows me to scale up it won’t cut off any of the squares bc it’s supposed to look like a quilt. I’m afraid it will cut off or still leave me with empty space above or below bc Printify only allows you to make the entire thing bigger or smaller it doesn’t have the crop feature to duplicate and just crop off the extra. I hope this makes better sense after you try to make sense of the first reply haha 🤪

    Something I haven't learned is how to make mock ups with these patterns if they're made on printify. I find that I can't carry it on to a tote bag or shirt without having to create the same pattern on Canva and trying to match it to how prinitfy creates the pattern, am I missing something that'll make my life easier?

    In creating the seamless patterns on canva can you also create a pattern out of texts as well?
