@@kentrosaurusboi3909 I was in the city in 2016 and ofcourse there were still buildings from the Prussian time. So, indeed if they can/could restore the cathedral and gates they can/could also restore the castle. I walked around that water towards the now Bernstein museum ( very nice items in there) and looked back and imagined how it would be if the castle was there. To buy military items seemed more important. I stayed in Zelenogradsk and also visited the Kurische Nerung with the bird watch, Vogelwarte, the duna Efa, the dancing forest (still has anti-tank dragonteeth in it), and a village. I would like to go to the northern and eastern part of the oblast but ofcourse not now.......
I am Dutch and when there with my own car, my son and his mother.

Very nice video/drawings and hopefully in better times it will come true. I have been in the city in 2016 and indeed it is missing some or the old flair. I even had to tell the guide that there is an interesting General Lasch bunker museum under the university garden. The guide was not a must.

I know there are a lot of Russian nationalist little kids here in the comment section. I cannot claim that Königsberg belongs to the Germans again (at the same time, it is not Russian land, because it was never been Russia). But if it remains under Russian control, this city must be rebuilt. Russia destroyed it back then, but now it would be obliged to bring these buildings back, if it already insists on these areas. Not in order to spread German culture in this area, but because this city does not deserve the fate that has befallen it. The sowjets wanted to build the house of sowjets on its place, as a symbol of victory and strength. They never finished it and totaly failed 😊
@@ArchitekturTV Actually Brezhnev wanted the Castle be destroyed as remnant of Prussia. The house of Soviets was built later next to the place of the Castle. So there is still room to rebuild it.
Maybe Germany will reclaim their land and rebuild it.

No, both Britain AND Russia destroyed German history. The Russians deported and murdered all the Germans living in East Prussia.
Возможность была. К сожалению, коммунисты снесли даже то, что можно было восстановить, а если не снесли, то перестроили до неузнаваемости, они сознательно избавлялись от немецкого прошлого города. До сих пор город выглядит как какой-то франкенштейн из прекрасных немецких строений (к сожалению испорченных современными идиотсикими пластиковыми окнами и крышей из профнастила) и советскими пятиэтажками. Я надеюсь, что когда-нибудь восстановят хотя бы часть исторического центра и приведут в порядок остальную часть города.
