Hello! Thanks so much for the kind words. Happy I could help you get rolling with this one. Normally I’m faster to respond but currently in the process of a move. Hope you’re enjoying your time in the Wasteland!
So to clarify, you have 2 action choices that you can use to explore a major part, walk, attack or camp and regain health ? just want to make sure im understanding
I honestly want to revisit this one down the line with the new expansions. Off the top of my head I can’t say. Hopefully I can get this one back to the table on the channel soon!
Attacking a monster that doesn't have the Loot symbol is a waste of time. You spent three actions fighting plus took a Camp action's worth of damage all for 1 XP. There's no reason to fear the ranged attack of a level 1 creature. Even if it activated and attacked, you still have the same chance to kill it, only you might take one extra point of damage. I'll trade 1 damage for a free action every time. You would have been much better off heading straight to Diamond City, doing the Quest, and moving on. Now you're stuck with a Super Mutant Skirmisher, one of the toughest enemies of the game, hovering over you. A couple other random things ... -Synths have ranged attacks at start -The Quest symbol is a vault door -You don't put dead monsters on the bottom of the stack, they go into a discard pile. (see Component Limitations in the RR) -Declaring Loyalty to a faction has nothing to do with scoring points for Agenda cards. Those two things are unrelated. You can always score Agenda cards regardless of your loyalty.
Thanks for watching and the feedback on the video! I was mainly going for XP to get my level progression moving as I will have to deal with that mutant sooner or later. I may have sounded more worried then I really was as I've killed a good number of them prior to this playthrough haha. Diamond City is the goal and I have more movement points then he will get activations to catch me. I don't mind playing chicken with him to further the main quest but I know we'll meet eventually. I need more gear is my side goal. - I'm loyal to the institute so synths are on my side...for now! They do indeed have ranged. - Not sure how I didn't see that icon as a vault door. Thanks for the heads up. I'll start referring to it as that in Part #3 as I've now filmed Part #2. - I'll move the killed off monsters from the bottom of the discard piles in Part #3 as well. Good catch! - For my particular agenda card it makes a huge difference. Agenda cards always score one point of influence. However, my agenda card also allows me the option to declare loyalty to get an additional loyalty point for every step the institute is higher on the faction track than the railroad. So it's directly related to scoring points for agenda cards. If I'm not loyal, I don't get those influence points and that agenda card only counts as 1 influence. You can however declare loyalty or go rogue on your turn when it suits you (to win the game for example). But avoiding hostile faction members in the Wastelands is a wise side benefit as well. Cheers!
Rolling Solo Reread that Agenda card. There's nothing on the card that says you need to declare loyalty to score the Influence points. And the Loyalty section of the RR says the cards are scored normally whether they are face up or down. It's a understandable rules mistake that I've seen many people making.
Ah, I see what you're saying now. Good to know. Something they'll likely clear up in an FAQ as the RR is a bit thin on a few rule clarifications I've noticed as well. Cheers!
@@RollingSolo Great discussion, I learned a bit from it and watching you play. So I have been even more mistakes that added to the difficulty unnecessarily and me eventually not playing the game anymore;.
There is an addon for Tabletop Simulator that adds the full board game to be played as one of the game types. This video series is helping me a lot to be able to play it in TTS, thanks!
I've played this game twice so far and enjoy it. One of the tricky things I've found in this game is balancing how often you claim agenda points or how often you complete a quest that allows a faction to move on the scenario sheet. Also the more cards you claim the quicker the deck runs out, allowing the factions to move down even faster. Getting those extra agenda points from cards already claimed is important if you want to successfully defeat the game. That's my assessment from two playthroughs. Closest I got to winning was 9 agenda points.
What about using the leftover agenda cards for your point count? Do those cards have agendas that only coincide with multi-players? Or could you use them instead of dibbing in the stack to prolong the game. Probably not ruling, but still, whatever makes the factions a little more fairer for good gaming time.
John I don't think you can use the cards that have a number higher than the number of players. I've even read comments where people say take an agenda card from the discard pile when you claim a card, not off the top of the deck. Not sure if that correct or not as I don't think it mentions it in the rules I'll have to go and check that one.
Can anyone answer - We're having a hard time understanding the icon of the thumbs-up in the circle. On some cards (like Encounter 080) it says to DRAW [that icon], which sounds like we should be drawing Agenda cards (based on the Learn to Play book pg 5 "Create Other Decks" section, where it says to shuffle the Agenda Deck and includes that icon). However, other cards (like the G.E.C.K.) phrases it as "draw 1 agenda", spelled out. Some encounter cards just include the thumbs-up icon without saying to "draw", and the Rules Reference book pg. 3 section titled Agenda says that "Agenda cards grant players influence ([that icon])". So that same icon seems to reference influence in some places and Agenda cards in others. So the question is.... When do we interpret the icon as influence and when do we count it as Agenda cards? We have been playing where any thumbs-up symbol we get for completing encounters counts as an Influence Point, which has made getting more that one or two agenda cards nearly impossible. But we are now wondering if we should be drawing Agenda cards after completing encounters, and if THAT is where the influence points come from?

Hello Atiwich! Good question. At the moment I haven’t played in some time so I don’t know off the top of my head. BoardGameGeek is where I would go with that question! Hope to see you around here.
Attiwich - If the Synth has a ranged weapon and an aggression token, it will attack you from an adjacent space. This will then trigger a fight where you roll the dice. The range weapon on the Synth vs you melee means you take an extra hit.
