Nice video, as always ! Crazy what you did on the skin, but it works quite well ! Allthough i must say i always miss a little contrast in your color choices. Some complementary colors would be nice. Or a little variation. As you mentioned its all very brown. I would personally have gone for a different colored vest, or if that is to drastic, just some different colored buttons, like black (not the same color as the shirt) and for the pocket watch chain some silver. The Gold/Brass tone is very close to his suit color again. I think small changes like this really make a miniature pop more especially from some distance on the table where very close hues kinda melt together. The gun is a good example it looks excellent! Just a couple of things i thought, painting wise its great as always ! :)
Thanks Eric! Those are REALLY good ideas and thanks for the feedback! Looking back I totally get how they make sense. I'm not the best when it comes to artistic design but always try to improve! The silver and black (I dislike pure black, perhaps a dark gray) would really look good! I very well might have to go back and change it :D I always appreciate the feedback and will continue to try and incorporate it all as I improve. The encouragement is wonderful along the way :)
Anytime! :) Always glad if i can give some input which helps you in any way. RUclips is a really powerfull plattform for feedback and i think its great you take it to heart! Color compoistion can always be a tricky thing. I always resort to my girlfriend for feedback on my miniatures :D I got the massive darkness KS set now , since we talked about it, very happy with it ! Allthough i mostly painted up orcs until now, the big miniatures are a little to imposing :D Really looking forward to your next video!
haha good tactic! I think my wife is just surprised I can paint them at all but I'll try and pry some wisdom (opinions) from her next time BEFORE I paint it. Did you only have the core box before? The RM's from the KS are more than worth it IMO. I started out (before starting the channel) with the goblin archers and dwarf defenders. I get frustrated with how long mobs take and very much enjoy painting 1-offs more. What skin color did you pick for the orcs? I'd love to see a pic!
ha, well it is crazy how people (you included) can paint these miniatures so well and with so much detail :) And she will definetly appreciated being asked for some wisdom too ;) No i just had some random minis before and got the whole KS package in one go, i got a great deal from someone in my city who had just no place for it anymore, everything factory sealed. It definetly was like christmas opening all the boxes ;) And those Monster minis really are a steal! Yeah i get it, i generally like focusing on one modell too. Really giving it the extra thought. But I noticed that i just need a little more practice with my brushes again and especially with the detail work! The most fun i have is thinking about theme i want to paint my minis in. On the orcs i went all ham, painted a few blue with a kind of grey warpaint and a set red with kind of a fiery theme, especially liked the bases. Here you go: imgur.com/a/xxGsS My camera is unfortunatley not as great as yours and i dont have a rotary table :P But its great, i really notice getting better from mini to mini!
Man those are great! I LOVE the warpaint! And the bases are outstanding and thematically exciting (I nerd out over bases). Also love the dirt on the bottom of the capes. I've only done that once before on my goblin archers and loved the effect. I need to do it more often! I never want to paint a mini I don't care about which means I just have to be okay painting what I paint and just improving over time. Pros and cons to that I suppose. Lucky for us, MD comes with a million miniatures to work on!
Hey guys! You might have noticed a Vote option in the video. This is to accommodate my Patreon voting. On Patreon, in addition to being able to actually get painted miniatures from me each month I also offer the ability to vote for a specific model to be featured to all backers. I've decided to expand this slightly and allow anyone to vote on a game who's miniature will be featured. I look forward to seeing what you guys choose! Note that this will be an extra video and it will be labeled and obvious which video it is.
Good work here you start to be more accurate and I feel like you choose the colors wisely. The trousers and the jacket in the same color is a good idea but the highlights are a bit too white. Try to mix a 50/50 of the basic color and ivory white instead of pure blank white. I use Menoth white highlight from P3 but any ivory will fit, the blank white desaturates the basic color. In addition of this I heard what you said about the cartoonish look but work on the shades. You will perhaps find a good way if you only put a light shading in the deepest recesses of the trousers for example. Aside of all this the skin is very well done but is there any tooth in the mouth ? I didn't see you paint them. Go ahead you start to find YOUR way of painting minis
+Akuu76 thanks! :) I mentioned it briefly in the video but the mouth area is very lacking in detail on the mini, however it seemed to be closed. As for the highlights, it looks fantastic in real life. I only noticed the line between the dark flesh and white mixed highlights once I edited the video. The very harsh lighting brought that out. That being said I do need more practice with it. My second and third highlights tend to be just as big as my fist, instead of building up and getting smaller. I only have basic white currently, but have an ivory ordered that will be here soon. :) Thank you for the tips and feedback and I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!

I like the colors you used in this I just feel he isn't dirty enough. Maybe a wash to darken it or give him a weathered look.
100% needs more grime :D
Great video and painting tutorial.
Where is the figure in Fallout? As I could not find it on their website.
Comes in the base game from Fantasy Flight Games :)
Glad you liked it!
