      @@ndugan44 saw an interview with Rob and he said the Cado was originally intended to be a twin and that FireWire asked him to make it a thruster. He didn’t like the thruster so ended up with the 2+1. I think they were looking for a marketing opportunity to release his 2+1 fin template. Much of the footage of Rob riding the Cado is actually with his twin keels in it. 2+1 only for bigger days methinks.

    • @ndugan44
      @ndugan44 20 дней назад +1

      @@trestlesrocks That's very interesting. The marketing thing makes sense, they needed some way to get people to buy their new fins lol. I rode the board originally the first few times as a standard thruster with some fiberglass honeycomb CI AM2 fins. It worked great at Black's where you can ride top to bottom and the wave has a little juice. The twin setup is definitely the call for either junky surf or mushy reef breaks, where you get the added speed and looseness and aren't driving hard on turns. I might search for a little trailer fin to demo somewhere, but it's a groveler so I'm thinking you'd want to maximize its ability in that category. To be continued...

    Would you recommend running both designs at the same length?
    I have the Cado and love it so far, but now I’m curious to try other Machado designs and I’m deciding between the Seaside and the Too Fish. How would you ideally size them based off the Cado?
    I’m on the 5’6” Cado, 5’8” felt a tad big. If the made a 5’7” I’d probably get that.

    Correct me if I am wrong but I think in his interview at Stoked for Travel Machado Said he just made a Seaside for himself 2 inches longer at 5'4 and narrowed it for more range and performance... I wonder if they'll bring out a Seaside 2.0. My only struggle with the board was I felt like I wished it was an inch narrower.

    Noel, I was looking at your surfing and it was pleasing to see that you don’t do little “wobbles” mid turn, unlike a lot of pros I see. One turn and then into another with nice flow. Keep it up. Your reviews a great. I bought a Chilli BV2 because of you and loving it!

    i love my seaside. I've had it for several years and have surfed it from knee to waist high, up to about 6-7ft point surf. Controller Quads and Machado Quads. As a twin fin it just loses something IMO. ( K1 keels, just the Machado fronts, ive got some AMTs i might try )
    Great review and content as always Noel.
    Nothing but love, but I gotta say Asa needs to work on his style and flow. He looks too bent over at the waist and jerky. Yea he can make little flicks, but its ugly. He needs to squat/crouch vs bend, and work on those hands. ( hed be a great case study for your "how to surf better" series :) )

      The Chumlee was a dog of a board. I rode one in perfect 1’-3’ surf for 2 hours the board could not do a liver turn without bogging. It was fast down the line but one of the worst boards I’ve ridden to do turns in the pocket. The Cado is hands down a better board in every aspect of a Groveler compared to the Chumlee.

    I have a Machado Glazer, that just sat in my house unused except for very specific conditions. I bought a set of Futures Al Merrick twin +1 to loosen up another board, which didn't go that well, so I put them in the Glazer instead, Holy Moly! Such a different board now, quality control on the Al Merrick fin was terrible though, I sent back two sets that were terribly finished, really rough edges, so look out for that if you buy a set.

      I surfed the Chumlee a few years back in fun 1’-3’ surf and it was fast but it couldn’t do a legit turn. Some surfers rave about the Chumlee in small surf…. For me it was awful.
