Do you know how genius you have to be to sell garbage to people and tell them they should pay top dollar for it? That's 100% winning. Keep in mind that I've never watched anything that he produced, but I can't knock somebody else's hustle just because I don't care about his product. The result he achieved is still impressive, as long as he's not doing anything foul or demonic, more power to him.

Popularity can bring profits just like McDonald's, Coca Cola, porn trap music and political fund raising is profitable but, does that make it genius? All you have to do to make profits is cater to humans base desires plain & simple. Dr. Claud Anderson, Dr. Francess Cress Welsings, George Washington Carver, marriages and abstinence from sex until marriage is genius yet, not popular nor does it sell.
I have nothing against TP I'm one who just doesn't appeal to his type of artistry, just as I don't appeal to pop music and fast foods, doesn't mean I hate it or those that partake of it.

Its time for tyler perry to evolve. If u watch one of his movies from the early 2000s,then watch one of his most recent movies its the same formula. Im not telling him to change but he needs to evolve, meaning get better at what he does, his storytelling is fine but it needs to be more fleshed out,his characters are fine but they need a little more diversity,a lil more personality. His subject matter is fine but again its need a lil more layer of depth, most tyler perry movies give u the entire plot within the first 30 mins,u can watch the first 30 mins of his movies and you’ll know exactly how the movie is gonna end.

When I lived in Atlanta there wasn’t a story on the news or in our community that he didn’t offer assistance to. A handicapped van of a family was stolen he bought them another one. This girls twins died I think in a fire. He payed for the funeral. He gave out grocery gift cards to people in Atlanta. Anywhere it seems things happen to our people he’s there to help. Nobody talks about that but they can criticize something so petty. Smh

I appreciate the brother highlighting the accomplishments of Tyler Perry to balance out the criticism of his work, and I will attempt to do the same, I hear many actors say Mr. Perry has treated them very well and paid them generously, even more than they have ever been paid, the man's hustle and grind is a thing to be studied, but when it comes to the finished product he leaves a lot to be desired in terms of scripts, especially for those of us who love good writing and intricately layered plots I get too frustrated with simplistic predictable storylines that's it, that's all, maybe one day he will get there, he has accomplished everything else so I'm sure he will I wouldn't bet against the brother. Oh, I almost forgot I do feel as if he and Lee Daniels were at the forefront of pushing homosexual themes and images in black cinema and it is not for me and never will be but I understand there is a large segment that is cool with that.

Tyler Perry writes with a specific voice. You all want him to be William Packard or Spike Lee, their literary voice isnt his. This man has told us over and over again that he was abused on many levels as a child. He's making movies for the women who go through abuse. Theres no need for nuance. He gives them what noone else will...the instant satisfaction of seeing an abuser be abused. Thats his deep seated issue, thats the core base that loves his content. It is what it is. You know its gonna happen , every play, tv show and movie. You want nuanced characters, go watch something else. If youve been abused and want to get 1-2 hours of dopamine fix watching a revenge story, Tyler Perry got you. Quinton Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Woody Allen, Wes Craven ect ect did/do the same, they write for a specific audience.

People have to understand black folks, their families and their background are not monolithic. I can't related to a single solitary Tyler Perry film as a black american woman growing up in America. I don't come from any of what he has depicted and I know so many others of our community can't either. He is also not that great at telling the stories and it's pandering to a certain demographic. That's fine because that demographic made him a household name. He got it out the mud with those people who rocked with him. I am not his demographic and so I suppose he also can't tell stories about things he can't relate to like other writers and directors can do. Tyler doesn't have a classic like Do the right thing, school daze, higher learning or Boys n the hood like Lee and Singleton. Nothing about his works moves me in the way those two brothers films have. He is quantity over quality and always has been. This doesn't mean people hate him either..... but folks don't say the same things about your works for years and it not be some truth to it.

What does tyler Perry's face really look like. He looks more like madea than himself. If that makes any sense.😂

That doesn't mean there isn't room for change and growth, he pedals black pain and trauma with bad writing and directing

Tyler is criticized because he’s too predictable to even make sense! All his movies are the same and he can’t see around his massive ego to get great writers to produce great content. He purposely does all of his own writing/producing and takes no constructive criticism when his fan base tells him “that and this, ain’t it Tyler”. He ignores them and reoffends by putting BACK OUT, the same trash content.

Rage-baiting is no excuse for poorly constructed plots and themes and tragically under-developed characters.

His movies are terrible + he doesn’t want writers in the room because he’s afraid they’ll criticize his weird/strange perspectives on black people/culture
