That looks awesome. My grandma would also put bread crumbs in the leaves and bake them. They were always delicious. That’s an awesome way to take out the bad part of the heart I’ll have to remember that
Some for me, but not everyone does. I'm portuguese, not italian. The heart we call it feno ( hay). It's a regional dish of southern Portugal ( Alentejo, moistly). Boiled and served with homemade olive oil. Yam!
We used to make them different when I was a kid. We’d boil them whole and peel off each leaf and dip the good part into either butter or lemon juice and eat it like that. Once we got to the hairy bits we’d scrape it out with a spoon. My favorite part was always the stems.
Yeah same, except it's was mayo and lemon juice, still eat like that, tho I sometimes peel the hairy bits with my hands, just gotta hold em right and pull, they come right off, and when they don't then it's time to surrender and grab a spoon
We used the whole thing growing up. We'd dip each little end in butter and eat until we'd reach the center. I'd pull it out, soak it in butter, and then eat it. It was always a little treat my mom would make sometimes

Add extra virgin olive oil to the boil and you've basically got my recipe. Sometimes I'll add other herbs when the mood hits. Need to try grilling them after though, that's a great idea. Oh, and the artichoke broth makes for a fantastic soup base btw.

Hi!! Love your videos and am learning a lot!! Do you happen to know how to make flaky salt?? I've seen videos but, it doesn't turn out. Thought you might have some tips. I love your new food cart!!
So you're saying that you don't have to waste 90% of the artichoke? I've never wanted to try them because they've always seemed so wasteful... but now, I just might.
I made these tonight. The choke came out just as easily as the video! And the taste was insanely good. I was always intimidated by cooking artichokes but this process made it easy. I whipped up some garlic aïoli sauce to serve with the artichokes and it was amazballs. I highly recommend this recipe!
I’ve been eating artichokes since I was a little kid. They’re one of my favorite foods. Try mixing some fresh squeezed lemon juice with your mayo for dipping. So good!

It has no flavor, yet you add mayo? It's like saying, "Hey? This water has a hard flavor. You know what would go great with it? MAYO!" NO. JUST AN EMPHATIC NO.
I recently started making mine with an Instant Pot. Cup of water in the instant pot, put in some garlic salt, lemon pepper, and a bay leaf per artichoke. 18 minutes on high pressure. For dipping, I use melted butter with garlic salt, lemon pepper and mayonnaise. Freaking delicious.

Looks delicious, I grew up eating them the Italian way, boiled and each leaf is stuffed with bread crumb stuffing and then baked in the oven to brown it up a little bit. Peel each leaf off and scrape the stuffing off with your teeth, the tender ends of the leaf you can bite right off as well. As you get deeper into the artichoke the leaves get more tender and you can eat the entire leaf…. The hearts are delicious too!
