Great job! The closet and the whole room is beautiful. Love those curtain rods! I also used those clips to do a cafe curtain over my sink. And I used white dish towels. They were a perfect size. I just folded the top over a little bit and clipped them on. Love everything you do. Keep inspiring us to do things in our homes. Thanks.

Great idea with the closet walls. I had a similar problem with my bathroom ceiling...and after all kinds of attempts to keep the paint from peeling off, i finally had cedar planks installed. Problem solved!
But love how the closets came out!! I might have tried that on my ceiling had i thought about it, and saved myself a pretty penny. And i love your little bureau with the mirror.....its adorable!
I have used joint compound to redo our walls. But one difference is I added paint to the compound. It's been up for years. Still looking good. Yours looks great too. It hides all kinds of imperfection. I'm sure your will last a long time as well. 🦋🥰🦋

Hi Julie, I just started watching your video and you showed the peeling paint. I think that the original paint was oil base paint and then latex was painted over it. Latex will not stick to oil base. You need to prime it. A paint store will be able to advise you on the type of primer that you need to use.
My daughter in-law had the same problem with her closet wall and she collected many pallets, took them all apart, put varnish on them and nailed all to the back of the closet. It is so pretty. Looks like western closet.

I have used drop cloths for my living room curtains. I love the look, I like the color, and I like the texture.

It looks like the back side of strippable wallpaper...score it and spray diluted fabric softener and it will help it release from the wall. This was under a kitchen wall in our previous home. Well now that I see it flaking off, I take back my previous thought, LOL.

Julie, you did a Great job and worked hard. It's lovely , and to protect the 'baby's bed, just throw one of your throws over the playpen.
I love those curtain rods. We don't have a Target, yet I'll be on the outlook . About your wall, Maybe it's oil paint on the walls and the water paint won't adhere ??? 'Bin' has a primer that works wonderfully.
I'm giving plenty of thought to doing that texture on a few walls.

Texturing could possibly fall of too. Have you tried shellac. I use it as an undercoat to stop bleeding. Works like a charm. The other option is to remove a piece of the wall and see what is on the other side so you can take proper action. My home is all internal brick walls (every wall.) Half of my walls are bagged and painted. I hate it. The dust settles on the ridges of the bagging and looks awful. The walls look fine to start with but I have to scrub the walls to get the dust out of the nooks and crannies. Your room does look great now though. You did a good job. I love piper too. What a funny cat.

Is there a bathroom on the other side of that wall? It could be a moisture issue. If the joint compound doesn’t work you could pick up a sheet of paneling, plywood, Masonite or luan, and nail it to the wall. It’s possible someone used an inferior paint or product years ago that is still peeing off. ALSO put an old sheet or blanket in the crib for Piper then, when needed, remove the old blanket and the crib is clean for the baby.

Did you try to put kilz. On it. Also the wall may have some type of coolness or moisture behind that wall that keeps the paint from being moist enough to keep the paint from star stuck to the walls.

I believe paneling would have been more work for me. Measuring,Cutting,and then painting 😁.

I just added the all purpose joint compound to my white paint, used a roller to apply looks great. Nice texture you could try that. I was happy with my result.

Doing construction myself on a 1950s apartment building old paints I'm going to guess oil paints will repel newer paints it will bubble and peel off

Could that possibly have been oil based paint that a latex paint would not stick to? Had similar problems when trying to paint old cabinets. Only solution would have been to use oil based primer before using latex paint.

Nah! Just needed some tlc.
If there is a bathroom or if there has been an addition to the house it maybe moisture that's the culprit. I hope this is a fix.

Looks like latex paint has been painted over oil base paint without Kiltz painted over the oil base paint.
This would be an easy fix by just covering with a thin paneling!
