Totally agree, not only his bands supreme musicianship, but bringing back the original artists & rejuvenating classic songs in a way re--release never could .We need an album of Darryl's House sessions
I cannot believe Daryl is 77-years-old. He's still "got it" and together with Howard they are showing youngsters what making music is about-- great songs, great singing, great musicianship-- well done boys.
@@jasonekratz I think she meant in the mainstream...pretty sure you actually understood what she was saying and just chose to be snarky...maybe you should think more expansively...?
Yes indeed I can so remember, the horns were like at least in every song or every other song back in the day. What a Wonderful time to live through. Thank You God and the Wonderful musicians that brought Awesome music to our lives.
This was special. For all you Howard Jones fans, look up the video with Howard Jones and Nik Kershaw doing Kershaw's "Wouldn't It Be Good".... Be warned, you might tear up....😊
I saw Howard during an 80’s Rewind concert a few years back. Even though there were other artists I really liked (Paul Young, Men Without Hats, etc), Howard really stole the show.
En todo caso el que mejor voz tiene es el tipo de las maracas...😂 Es un hermoso tema que me trae muchos recuerdos de mi adolescencia y la verdad es que ésta versión me encantó grande Howard 👏💪🏼💯
It makes me want to see behind the scenes. They have teleprompters and sheet music. There's a staff doing this. Is there a music director doing arrangements? That's a video I'd like to watch.
Howard Jones is a highly underrated artist, and singer. Us in America got cheated from hearing great new wave bands/singers due to being "one hit wonders". They weren't in Europe.
What? I grew up in small-town Idaho, and I mostly listened to guitar-based bands. Yet I was still aware of many of his hits and even had the 12" single of _Things Can Only Get Better._
It's wonderful to live in the age of RUclips, so we can enjoy this wonderful song, see all this talent united and brighten our lives. It's priceless. Thanks to Daryl for making music an essential element for enjoying life... When the right people come together at the right time, they create extraordinary moments. Thank you all from Venezuela.
Back in 86 I was living in a condo with another guy and a girl in Dillon Co. The girl roomy scored some HoJo tickets at Red Rocks and she asked me if I would go with her. I wasn't really into pop music at the time but I told her I would because I had never seen a show at RR. We got there and the whole amphitheater was nothing but girls and as you know for an 18 year old I was in heaven. HoJo comes out on stage and proceeds to put on one of the best choreographed concerts I have ever seen. It was truly amazing and the music was top notch. That day I became a huge fan and it's still one of the best concerts I have ever seen. I bought his greatest hits CD and still listen to it to this day as it brings back really good memories of a more simple time in my life.
Thank you! This was beautiful and so unexpected. I love that Howard Jones, Daryl Hall, and other greats from my youth are still making music, exploring creative new ways, and sounding fresh and original even decades later. My respect and gratitude to you all.
Anyone else adore the practice vocals? Couple of centuries of experience between everyone present, yet for a few moments they're just like all of us shower divas and karaoke stars.
I met Darryl 31 years ago. He was so quiet, polite, friendly, and down to earth. He gladly talked, laughed, and took a picture with my brother and I. A REAL CLASS ACT ! Dear God, send more people like Darryl down to Earth, please 🙏
Simply Eclectic.. Howard Jones used to live in High Wycombe, Bucks in England, when he first came out with his first single & thereafter. I was only about ten years of age & my neighbour Pat, who was in her 20's used to have piano lessons with Howard. He literally lived ten minutes walk from us & I smile now, because those were the days of wanting to get an autograph. So, I walked with Pat & knocked on Howard's door & got an autograph. ( Green St, High Wycombe Howard's home back then) Happy Days 🌻🌷
I had the privilege to grow up with Howard's and Daryl's music. Those were 2 of the amazing artists from the 80's. I'm still hooked on 80's music because that was the BEST MUSIC EVER ! 80's still rocks baby 🤘🤘🤘❤❤❤
Great to be reminded of Howard Jones who made such great music , just mix his voice up a bit though he is on for one episode,we hear the rest of you every episode.
What an era, and what a genre--Howard Jones, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, and Daryl, to name a few standouts. The high water mark of singing-songwriting in my lifetime.
I'm being seriously spoilt! I've always admired Howard as a writer and the positive energy of his lyrics, I also love Hall and Oates - this version is so beautiful, thanks guys! Awesome musicians one and all!
Where the hell are Daryl's subscribers? Less than 100,000 for live music of this calibre. This new series alone features Robert Fripp, Glenn Tillbrook and now Howard Jones. The Fripp episode alone is worth signing up for! Where else are you going to see music this good with such iconic musicians - for free!
Great artists, great song choices, great musicians, fun conversations. Live From Daryl’s House is easily the best music content on RUclips! I always look forward to the next episode. Keep 'em coming Daryl!
Howard Jones is such an amazing and underrated singer song writer. Bought a song book of his and it's pure gold going back and playing/singing his songs. Daryl's bits like this are pure joy to watch, soak in and listen to. Weird how Howard looks more and more like John Lithgow everytime i see him.
I believe I got the Chills when hearing this song again just like I did 40 years ago. Unbelievable. Two greats from an Era where music was music. Simple and great. Love Darryl and Howard
I've seen them all and this is by far my favorite episode of Live From Daryl's House. Outstanding and so great to see HoJo in action. His voice meshes very well together.
Everything coming out of Daryl’s House is AMAZING! All you Millennials and Gen Z-ers with bad taste in current music need to sample all these videos for yourself.
One of my great pleasures in '23 was seeing Berlin, Howard Jones, and Culture Club on Tour. Jones was fantastic, warm, and like here, sounded amazing. Great post.
i dreamed i was singing this song with all my heart outloud last night randomly walking in the city in my dream and i woke up this morning and found this masterpiece of live sound stage. I'm gonna do a cover of it today.
Saw Howard live, it’s been a while but the energy on stage is fire! He runs from instrument to instrument and beats on an old Hammond until it almost falls over it’s better that I ever imagined
This was always my favorite Howard Jones song and this arrangement was just incredible. Charlie and the other sax player added so much warmth and soul to the song and of course the rest of the band didn't do too badly either. One of Daryl's best shows.
Raise your hand if you feel as lucky and grateful for this channel as I do. The songs, the musicians ... unbelievably gorgeous. Thank you Daryl.

I actually prefer the synthesizers from the original version. But the horn guys were already there so guess they gave them something to do.

Absolutely brilliant, hasn't cracked at all.

That damn drummer is always IN the POCKET. Total baddass.Whole dang band is just so damn good it's almost comical.
man how I wish Daryl would put together a compilation album of all of these moments. I think that would be the greatest selling album of all time.
Daryl, you fill a music void with this series. There’s so much wonderful music over the past 40 years that rarely gets revisited. Thanks.
Very well said
😭 Howard Jones and Daryl Hall. Who doesn't need this in their life!??
Wow! That made my 59-year-old heart happy.
55 years old here - and no less happy🥰

I was twelve when this song came out. Its evocation of longing and frustration resonated with me then. It's a timeless masterpiece of pop song craft.
My favorite song by Howard Jones. I love Daryl's contribution. Beautifully done ! 💕🎶
How many muso’s set up at home and play along to Daryl’s House? 👇….. I do! 👌🏻
Howard Jones is a highly underrated artist, and singer. Us in America got cheated from hearing great new wave bands/singers due to being "one hit wonders". They weren't in Europe.
We heard every Howard Jones song here in NYC and Long Island. Some of us didn't get cheated thanks to a station called WLIR.

We were well aware that Howard was not a one-hit-wonder. He had 5 excellent and another 5 solidly well known songs.
Cool stories guys. Go have a dick measuring contest. I'm from the south. He wasn't played much. JFC you weirdos.
Howard was inescapable on the radio in the U.S. for a while there in the 80s. He also didn’t just have one hit.
The two most Iconic voices from the 70s and 80s simply phenomenal.
Daryl, thank you for doing this series. It's so real and so chill. I feel like I'm hanging with friends 🧡
