If your foam doesn't work, I fit a microwave in the sleeper of my prime mover with a homemade battery style clamp, using a threaded rod. It worked a treat, over rough corrugated dirt roads towing a roastrain with 3 double-decker trailers of cattle for years, with no issues. Even a ratchet strap might work "Hooooo!" I had to look up what “ tailgating “ meant in the US as here in the UK it means continuing to drive too close to the vehicle in front in a dangerous manner! So I was a bit non-plussed to think you were excitedly getting ready for a whole weekend of driving round annoying other drivers just for the fun of it! 😂😂😂😂 Had to laugh! Thanks for another great video❤xx
Ooooh, oops! Yes, tailgating also has that same meaning here too. So, technically it's called a Tailgate Party but people just say they're going tailgating before the game. Do people have parties in parking lots outside of sporting events over in the UK?
Guys a couple bungee cords for the fridge and also for the table on wall would looks nice and could use the table one for a towel or use immagination what hang on the bungey cord :)
Bungee cords would be a good idea... we considered that but then worried about how hard it might be to get the hooks on and off each time. We'll see how this velcro works out. We might end up resorting to something else at some point. Thanks for the comment!
You guys should put some more sound and heat shield on the underside of the dog house and you can get heaters that stick on to the freshwater tank and the gray tank so they do not freeze and crack your tanks
We kept the factory heatshield intact. We attempted to add some kilmat but it didn't adhere well to the existing stuff. The seal around the outer edge of the doghouse was a huge improvement. So far we're satisfied. The freshwater tank is in the RV and we have our grey water going directly into our black tank. It's under the camper and the exterior is insulated. Thanks for the comment 😁
Christy and Tyler, you guys have done such a great job! I don’t think you could have done it without the Temu pants though 😂😂. I love you! Great job on HarVy! He looks great!
I absolutely love how you guys take the fits and starts of your re-do in stride. You both have such a great outlook. And an exceptional sense of humor. Thanks for showing us how real people get through a project like this without driving yourselves completely crazy!!
We're convinced that the only way to get through a project like this is to laugh along the way. It would absolutely not be enjoyable if we were sweating the small stuff. Thank you so much for the comment and for watching!
I admire Jack's excellent work on repainting the air cleaner cover. He is learning from the best .You guys are very talented. Harvey is in good hands. Go Harvey the Rv !!
Thank you! We weren't planning to add a TV but the coziness factor might make us want to add one! When the tools are cleaned out, it looks pretty nice 😍
Omg! I'm sitting here in Florida watching you guys renovate your awesome vintage camper, and I see my hometown of Saginaw come up. Used to swim in the gravel pit in Vassar. Went to SVSU. Was born in and lived in that area most of my life. ❤
That's so cool! What a coincidence! We had a great day tailgating at SVSU; our kids love it there! Enjoy that warm weather down in the sunshine state. Thanks for watching and commenting 🎉
Yes!!! This makes sense and is probably what is happening. Our vent tube is far too long right now and is likely looped. We'll check it out; thanks so much for the comment!
Glad you had a successful trip in Harvey! I had to laugh when you broke out the STP engine honey! Growing up in the 70's, STP was very popular. We used to get STP stickers from the local auto parts store and put them on our bikes and everything you can imagine. I'm sure it helped many a engine slow oil burning amongst other things back then. Also, tell your kids they have some really cool parents!!
Thanks for the comment 😁. STP and Lucas are nice additives when you need that little extra help thickening up the oil. Those stickers are cool. I remember having an STP patch sewn over a hole in the knee of my jeans 😁. The good old days.
You Two really are something! You work together you've accomplished amazing things and your family is so involved and you have so much fun together that's the way it should be these are the days you'll remember forever.! I'm wondering though what was your power supply again I see you're plugged into the outlets on the wall outside are you running off of a house battery I never really saw you make an electrical solar kind of system on board Harvey.?
Thanks so much!!! For the power supply, we were using a generator from Harbor Freight. If we're at a campground we'd plug into shore power. Right now, we don't have solar but it's something we'd like to explore! Just have to pinch some pennies for a bit :-)
We're not sure! Still needs a bit of work before we'd want to go too far from home but maybe Hocking Hills in Ohio would be somewhere to venture next or to Michigan's upper peninsula ❤
I would be interested to see what the pickup screen looks like. The engine is enormous and a very tight fit. I'll have to see if it would be possible to get enough clearance to remove the oil pan and inspect it. Thanks for the comment 😁.
I looked back at the shirt listing on Temu and it does not clearly show what is written on that little patch --- when I saw it said, "Fashion," it was just too funny not to share. Thanks for watching! 🎉
Love your videos. You're definitely good without a cooktop vent, especially with that window right there and the fan blowing across. RVIA code doesn't even require a vent as long as there's a rooftop exhaust fan within so many feet of the cooktop, and you're just fine with that window there. Just as good as, if not better than, an exhaust fan.
Check your local library for a repair manual for the van Harvey's built on -- wiring diagrams would be a help, and it'd hint at what might keep your oil pressure that low too.
Thanks for the comment! I do have a Haynes manual for Harvey. It has been put to good use 😉. Looking online has been very helpful as well. I'll keep looking at wires and checking voltages. I might try a mechanical gauge just to compare.
I am amazed, from then to now. You guys did a great job. I like sweatshirt but the pants have a bit of a baggy butte. I but Amazon essentials, Levi silvers. They fit very well. Also I buy pants at Maurice’s they are great.😊 ❤
“Soft close” 😂 the temu clothes 😂😂 I love temu and have seen oddly branded clothes lol I was waiting for the starship troopers MEDIC!! When her thumb was caught… lol I swear I love this family. Pure comedy. DUN DUN DAAAAAAH DUNN usb switch didn’t open. 😂😂 it’s simple things in life that makes you smile. OMG hacksaw Jim duggan hahaha I must say back in 98 when I started on the ambulance if I was told to pull my pants down and let them see some crack we’d be having one of those looney tunes fights when you see the cloud and shit is spinning in circles and shoes and sinks flying out 😂 lonestar!! I see your doghouse is bigger than mine 😏😉 I need to play catch up. I’m a few videos down.hope you all had a blessed turkey day. That vintage national park poster was gnarly! Damn, jack piggyback riding around with pops
Hey, you're back! You were getting behind on the videos, lol. With Thanksgiving and the weather lately, we're a little behind where we want to be with our side of things too. The Temu thing was too funny --- don't show the pants --> immediately pans down to the Temu clown pants. Thanks again for watching and the comments that always give us some smiles.
Your video`s are so much fun to watch, probably somewhat because I've had many of same things happen to me. So glad all went well on your trip. Seems like Harvey is getting healed from all his wounds and purring like a kitten. That's a good feeling I know from experience. Keep 'em coming, can't wait for the next episode.
Thanks so much for the comment! We're working under the assumption that he will occasionally break down so hopefully, if we plan for it, it won't be as upsetting. For now, we're glad he's on the road and we can enjoy some great family time together! Thanks for watching 😄
I love watching this journey with you guys. I also love how you guys work so well together, you guys are best friends and it shows. I love seeing married couples who really get it yanno?
I like the idea that you kept the original drivetrain in the RV it just feels I guess you could say alright I know some people upgrade things and all that but I figure if you're going to go that route and change everything that you might as well just buy newer RV I know in my area the 2000 and 2005 models you can get relatively cheap and I mean cheap your RV stands out it has that look when it goes down the road of a time in this country when families did things and went places and now most cases it doesn't happen everybody's on the phone in the same room texting at the same time looking at the phone and not talking so maybe that's why I like following this build that both of you are doing
I like the simplicity of the original drivetrain. There are advantages of a more modern setup and at some point we might try to combine some this advancements. We also enjoy getting the kids involved. Sometimes it's a challenge with all the distractions that electronics provide. We'll keep working at it 😉.
@@retrorevivals I have a few older vehicles and like you said its simplicity the only computer that's ever in those Vehicles when I'm in them is my smartphone in my pocket when I'm driving
This is all great , however upgraded batteries plus cables and starter solenoid on the wall ballast resistor on the wall that gives you 12 volts to your coil I think, new belts , transmission filter engine flush ,heavy duty shocks😊
So, people are used to cars nowadays rather than the vintage cars. "Start" is the starter, "Run" is letting the vehicle run. You don't want it to run on start, you'll burn up the starter like that. Having the key jump back to "Run" then Run like it should is completely normal. The starter and ignition switch are both working fine.
Thanks for the comment! We ended up replacing most of the suspect ignition parts and it improved somewhat but it still does what you described sometimes... maybe the carburetor or maybe totally normal!
Time stamp 45:00. Don't rebuild the engin. You have a Dodge there. The oil Pressure will never read correct. B4 you try anything major, get a mechanical oil pressure gauge. One that actually has oil pressing on a diaphram that moves the needle. As long as it runs correctly, leave it alone. I did this on a Dodge I owned, rebuilt the the engin, spent a load of money. The oil pressure was reading low on the new engin as well. Fact is, if your pressure was low, the engin would show some signs of low pressure. Rough idel. tendency to stall. loss of RPM at idel. If you have none of that, it is fine. My experience with Dodge is that they read low from the factory. Thicker oil is a nice insurance policy. How sure am I of these statements? I would bet money on them. At least a dollar. 🤣 Time stamp 51:00. WELCOME TO MY HOME AREA. High five.
Thanks for reassuring me. I'm not overly concerned about the oil pressure at the moment. The engine runs well and doesn't make any concerning noises. I have considered a mechanical gauge. That might be something I swap to in the future. It would be interesting to see if there was a big discrepancy from electric to mechanical. Thanks for watching!
Holy smokes, ya go tailgating and end up showing up late to the tailgate party. What's up with that?? Look at you two climb that sub ladder!! Almost 8K subbers at this point. Strong work!! Harvey the RV is looking SOOO good!! Who would've ever guessed it would turn out so well from that poo covered gag sitch to this?? Just a little sad the foot bidet is gone though. Who doesn't enjoy a little foot bath after using the tinkler?? Did the vote on that funky chunky being better then fiddle faddle get edited out?? Anybody that thinks that stuff is better then fiddle faddle is just full of...well, fiddle faddle!! It's always fun to see a new Retro vid pop up!! Thanks for another fun vid showing Harvey's progress. Always looking forward to the next one to see what you two are up to.
Oooh, I can see that on some merch, "Look at our poo-covered gag sitch." I'd buy that shirt 😂. Thank you for the nice comment again, the subs are climbing! So, about the Funky Chunky stuff, it was definitely good but... I mean, I don't know if it could take down fiddle faddle in a head to head competition. Thanks so much for watching and we always look forward to your comments, so fun 😊. So, is your name like "To Arizona Sun" or is it more like the word Tucson?
Love your videos, especially your interactions with each other and doing the makeover on a budget. College aged kids are fun and they appreciate their parents for a change😊!
Thanks so much for the comment. We can say that our "budget" renovation has gotten quite out of hand. Having college aged kids is new to us but, so far, so good! We appreciate you watching!
Looks nice and bright with all the lights. My silverado with 230k would start ticking when it got hot and the oil pressure got low. I put in a high volume oil pump and now i have all the pressure😁. I did that a few years ago and its never dropped low enough to tick again and I don't baby it I drive like Ricky Bobby. It was a lot of work because my truck is 4x4. I had to drop the front diff to drop the pan and tear apart the whole front of the engine but it saved me from replacing the motor.
Thanks for the comment! I've considered dropping the oil pan to see what the bottom of the pan and pickup screen look like. I would probably go ahead and change the pump at that point. That would be a big project. I haven't heard any noises from the engine so I'll leave well enough alone for now.
OK the crack joke, that got me😂😂 and love the reference to Adam Sandler movie! Harvey is looking really good. You have all done a spectacular job. I think I’ve even learned a little bit too!! Looking forward to more adventures! Good luck💜
Ooh, we were so excited about the green wheels that we haven't considered hubcaps... that would look nice 😍 Thanks so much for watching and for the comment!
440 oil pumps are external on the side there’s a threaded cap that houses the oil pressure spring. I the “old days” they used to stretch the spring or put a washer under the spring to shim it up and get higher pressure. Love your channel.
Nope, nothing wrong with your vent. Take a smaller hose and run it directly into the tank line. I took a perfectly good RV water hose and cut off about a 14” section from the end. Connected it to the other water hose and ran the cut part down into the fill opening. Problem solved. I was having the same problem you were.
I think I'll probably have to shorten the vent tube hose. I think there's too much length and we have a loop of hose with water in it. Not allowing it to vent properly. I'll check it out. Thanks for the comment 😁
First off, love the humor - go Temu pant and Fasion! lol. Being the son of a mechanic - it's frustrating to watch people shoot the parts cannon at issues without diagnosing the actual problem. no offense to you - because a lot of mechanics today - if you took it to a shop, would do the same thing. I'd have to refer to my expert on this one - as I'm not familiar myself - but, some simple deductive reasoning - and I would say it's likely your ignition switch. if it ran before - the coil was probably fine, as well as the relay. the resistor - I'd probably replace. definitely - the corrosion - cleaning it can't hurt. but I'm leaning toward ignition. curious - to keep watching and see if I was right. cheers guys! I have a 76 GMC motorhome - I have my own projects as well.
Keep watching our other videos. The ignition saga continues. There have been improvements but still sorting out. I try not to shotgun parts but affordable and accessible ones don't bother me too much.
Fun episode today. You guys are so much fun to watch. Stuck thumb had me rolling in the aisle and the foot bidet is so visual. I love how you troubleshoot the challenges you encounter. I think the table needs to have felt on the legs or on the wall as it’s going to rub as you drive down the road.. I have that same little fridge on my patio and I love it.
Thank you! Good idea on the felt or something on the table... we hadn't considered that. We had forgotten all about the thumb stuck in the freezer thing until we started editing, so funny 😂😂😂 Thanks for the comment!

Hi Clive, thanks so much!! Nice to hear from you. We haven't seen the new sleeper dude video yet but we hope to check it out this weekend. That would be so fun to meet up with them. Thanks again for watching!
I'm not as familiar with Ford or Chrysler - but older GM oil pumps had a slider pin in the pump that regulated the oil pressure - on engines that weren't maintained well - that pin would stick or not move well and cause low pressure at idle, etc. I believe it was accessible from the pan, perhaps a Chrysler person can chime in on that. I wouldn't run thicker oil for pressure - I'd run thinner oil for flow. you want it to get to the bearings - as long as it flows well and has some pressure it should make it there - too thick, and it's like a sludged up motor- and starves the bearings as well as takes too long to flow back to pan.
I'm not really familiar with Chrysler products but I'm learning more everyday 😁. Our 440 has an external oil pump. Which logic dictates that it should be easier to change and I should probably do that. As for the viscosity, you make a good point. I don't have valve train clatter or lifter noise thankfully. Maybe next oil change I'll try a different oil. Thanks for the comment 😁
I love how you praise him “good job” that was so sweet.

Thank you very much! 💚💚
So much fun! Fashion! Fashion!
We're ready for the red carpet 😎
This lady cracks me up w her temu jeans, " fashion" blouse😅😂😅😂😅😂
I mean, who buys clothes off Temu?? This gal! 🤗😂 Might have learned a little lesson there with those purchases. Thanks for watching!
You two are so patient
I would have taken two sticks of dynamite to that camper😂😂😂😂😂😂
Love your channel 😊
Haha, it might have taken at least 3 sticks 😂 Thanks for your comment! We appreciate you following along 🎉
You guys are my FAVS!!!! Hello from Arkansas!
Hello!! Thank you so much 😁
Glad to see Harvey improving every video.
Thanks! It's been a much longer project than we initially expected but it's coming along!
you guys are incredible, what a fantastic job on Harvey.. soo cozy, i wanna cuddled up and watch a movie in there
Thank you! We weren't planning to add a TV but the coziness factor might make us want to add one! When the tools are cleaned out, it looks pretty nice 😍
So cool to see SVSU. Love the videos.
The cardinals even won that game! Thanks for watching!
@@retrorevivals when I attended there we lost all the time but that was 30 years ago.
Fridge install was funny. Realistic challenges. I have a vintage RV and look forward to all the projects.
The fridge install was crazy 🤣 Thanks for watching and good luck with your project!
Got to love the Temu. My adult daughters order from them and get good merch and funny stuff also. “Warm tips” 😂
Temu is so crazy, you never know what you'll get --- could be awesome or total junk, lol! Thanks for watching!
It's the ignition switch!!!!! Trust!!!
Thanks for the comment! I believe you. It's a cheap part that's worth a try.
If you have a loop in your vent and the vent hose gets water in it, it takes pressure to push the water out of the vent. No loops
Yes!!! This makes sense and is probably what is happening. Our vent tube is far too long right now and is likely looped. We'll check it out; thanks so much for the comment!
Put glue bumpers to the door cabinets.....that could help
Now that you mention it, I think those little strut/lift things came with the stick on bumpers. We'll have to look!
Great video. Looks like a great college and experience.
Thank you! It was a really fun day with the family! 🏈❤🎉
My parents had a motor home exactly like yours, they loved it
Aww, that's so cool!
Find some nitro Harvey green daisy stickers and put them on your fridge dents…then it looks intentional, not sad!
Yes, some strategically placed magnets or stickers should solve that problem!
It’s looking good guys and you crack me up! You guys are really suited to each other!! ❤😅😅
Thank you so much for that nice comment!
I love your RV - the interior is awesome! Love your content ❤
Thanks so much!😊
Looks like Harvey is doing well, so any fun trips in your future
We're not sure! Still needs a bit of work before we'd want to go too far from home but maybe Hocking Hills in Ohio would be somewhere to venture next or to Michigan's upper peninsula ❤
I subscribed because you guys made my day with laughter etc.Very down to earth people, Thankyou.:)
That's awesome, that's for subscribing! We're happy to have you along for the ride. Hope you check out some of our other videos too 😁😁
Sleeperdudes RV had low oil pressure, they found the pump intake screen blocked with gunk. Something to consider.
I would be interested to see what the pickup screen looks like. The engine is enormous and a very tight fit. I'll have to see if it would be possible to get enough clearance to remove the oil pan and inspect it. Thanks for the comment 😁.
Looking good 👍. Glad you made it round trip with no issues. .. Great job...😊
Thanks so much; we appreciate you watching and commenting!
I love you guys 😂
Thank you 💚💚💚
We bought a dorm fridge from Costco has worked fantastic for us. When travelling or boondocking we run it off our solar.
Glad to hear that! We haven't gotten into solar yet but love the idea of it... hopefully soon!
Nice fans! From Amazon!
Yes! They seem really sturdy and should help out in the summertime!
Got 2 cuzins their
At SVSU? It seems like a great school ❤
You two are so funny! I really love watching you guys. I really like your fashion shirt. Harvey is looking really good!
I looked back at the shirt listing on Temu and it does not clearly show what is written on that little patch --- when I saw it said, "Fashion," it was just too funny not to share. Thanks for watching! 🎉
Ya’ll amaze me! So good at what you do. So inspiring to watch!
Thank you so much for watching our videos and commenting. We really appreciate you 😘
Glad to see you back. Really Enjoy your Trip.
Thanks! We really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment 🎉
Great news 🙌 Thanks for the comment!
Happy to see the upper cabinets are not going to hit the ceiling. It could have really wrecked the ceiling.
Yes! Those little struts seem to be doing the trick! Thanks for watching 😀
I am amazed, from then to now. You guys did a great job. I like sweatshirt but the pants have a bit of a baggy butte. I but Amazon essentials, Levi silvers. They fit very well. Also I buy pants at Maurice’s they are great.😊 ❤
Thanks for the comment! Yes, the pants are a size or two too big, lol.
I thought this was going to be all tailgating... but I was pleasantly surprised.
We're glad you enjoyed it😁
Your video`s are so much fun to watch, probably somewhat because I've had many of same things happen to me.
Aww, that's very sweet of you to say. We are a pretty good pair 😍 We appreciate you watching!
That rig looks GREAT! Loved this adventure and REALLY love this channel! Nice Work! 👍
That's great to hear! Thanks so much for the comment! 🎉
So glad I found this channel, I find myself looking and hoping every day for a new video! Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much. Of course, feel free to go back and rewatch all of our older stuff too 😁😁
This is all great , however upgraded batteries plus cables and starter solenoid on the wall ballast resistor on the wall that gives you 12 volts to your coil I think, new belts , transmission filter engine flush ,heavy duty shocks😊
Thanks for the comment! We did do a lot of those things and some are still on the to-do list. We appreciate you watching!
About time
😂😂 We appreciate your excitement 😂😂
Time stamp 51:00. WELCOME TO MY HOME AREA. High five.
A direct reading oil pressure gauge plumbed in place of the stock sending unit is a good idea.
Great road trip and thanks for sharing your content
Thank you for watching!
Love it!!!! ❤
Thank you! 😍😍
Love the videos , you guys are hilarious too!
Awww, thanks! More shenanigans to come...
LOVE those fans!!!
Thanks! They give it a retro vibe. Now if they only oscillated 😆.
OK the crack joke, that got me😂😂 and love the reference to Adam Sandler movie! Harvey is looking really good. You have all done a spectacular job. I think I’ve even learned a little bit too!! Looking forward to more adventures! Good luck💜
Thanks for the comment. We'll keep working and having fun 😁. Thanks for watching!
You guys are fun! Harvey is looking great. My preference, I’d put the chrome hubcaps on. I think it would look great!
Ooh, we were so excited about the green wheels that we haven't considered hubcaps... that would look nice 😍 Thanks so much for watching and for the comment!
Our motorhome is called Harvy also😂
That's awesome! 🎉
440 oil pumps are external on the side there’s a threaded cap that houses the oil pressure spring. I the “old days” they used to stretch the spring or put a washer under the spring to shim it up and get higher pressure. Love your channel.
Thanks for the tip. I'll have to read up on that😉.
You don't need Teflon tape on the flared side of the fitting. Only on the NPT side.
Whoopsie Daisy 😂
Nope, nothing wrong with your vent. Take a smaller hose and run it directly into the tank line. I took a perfectly good RV water hose and cut off about a 14” section from the end. Connected it to the other water hose and ran the cut part down into the fill opening. Problem solved. I was having the same problem you were.
Wow great solution. !!
@20:00 It's a beaut Clark
I think that's two videos in a row where a spontaneous version of "Joy to the World" came out 😂
👍
Pick me up next time and we can get coneys 😂
Andrea!! How are you?! Loved our coney lunches! ❤️
Hi Christy & Tyler family & Harvey my you tube friends you have done a tremendous job of renovating Harvy he looks brilliant .Tyler I realy think you should buy some matching Temu pants & a fashion shirt ,I had to laugh along with you both when Christy got her thumb caught in the groove between the freezer door & fridge hope it was not to painfull for you Christy .I hope when your on your travels you stay at a campsite where Josh & Tosh sleeper dude family are staying they have successfully managed to get their renovated old minnie winnie working well I just watched their completion video on Tuesday this week they are going on a trip during the next school holidays it would be awesome if you were to meet them on your travels I think that would be an awesome neet up to brilliantly funny happy families having a blast any way great watching your work & laughing along with you bye for now have wonderful happy holidays in Harvey with your family & friends great videos & great work renovating a neglected Harvey the previous owners would be shocked to see the transformation brilliant.
Hi Clive, thanks so much!! Nice to hear from you. We haven't seen the new sleeper dude video yet but we hope to check it out this weekend. That would be so fun to meet up with them. Thanks again for watching!
My friend (partner) called those fans: 'Fart Excluder'! 😂😂😂
Haha, yes, definitely fitting!
looks awesome
Thanks, Mike! 🎉
You guys are doing a terrific job!!! Learning alot! Have fun using it! PS . I'd try changing out the ignition switch. Cheap fix!
Thanks so much! Looks like a new ignition switch is in our future!
Looking good enjoy your trip. Looking at your video saw that it would be good idea to change my old starter relay too. Thanks
Thank you! We appreciate you watching and commenting! 🎉
