Chip Cutter, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal covering workplace, management and leadership issues, has more.

I think the workers will get the upper hand again when more boomers retire.

Boomers already are... soon they'll all be retired. The youngest ones (born in 1964) are 59 are only a few years away.

@@user-qr7ee2cp4y these dumb gen z kids don't understand the term boomer actually means something besides responsible adults that won't hire me and make me feel stoopid and insecure.
      😂🤣😂
If anyone is going to step up after the baby boomers retire and already have begun to, it's gen x, and most of us too hate this snowflake z generation scared of their own shadows that can't even determine their own sex.

It's really bad news. Wages barely rose so there is not going to be any buffer to absorb shock during the recession. Consumer spending is being propped up by debt right now while cost of living keeps rising. Means the debts being accrued are never going to be paid because money is not being allowed to filter down through wages. Over long term most labor is devalued to the point where it is not actually capable of paying the debts anyway even if it keeps society running. The joker there can laugh that his friends are getting cheap labor, but a poor worker is also a poor customer and a poor debtor.

The great reaignation was a silent resignation where the employee decided to do the least amount of work possible while staying on the job as long as possible/allowed.
These figures mean nothing. I highly doubt the quiet resignation disappeared, instead I'd bet its just as embedded in the management who isn't going to fire anyone for not doing their job unless their job is directly threatened, because they too have also quietly decided not to give a sh!t either.
Same goes for hiring. Management are hiring the least, or only the most minimally qualified candidates they can find for open positions to keep their job secure while doing the least amount of work to keep the sinking ship just above water.
