- Penn & Teller's Magic and Mystery Tour is a 2003 television documentary miniseries starring Penn & Teller. The program was created by the CBC in association with Channel 4 Film.
The show focuses on street magic, and the subjects of each of the three shows are China (Chinese Linking Rings), India (Indian Rope Trick), and Egypt (Cups and Balls, Gali-Gali men). Unusually for Penn and Teller, Teller speaks in the Egypt episode, even though part of their trademark performance is that Penn does all the speaking. Развлечения
I think the most impressive trick in the whole video was Teller talking. Greatest trick I've ever seen so far.
I swear to fuck that no one watching this video even knows who Penn & Teller _are._ Of course Teller talks. .__. I hate magic tricks with animals, especially in third world countries. You know the probability of animals getting fucked up and killed is high.
I'm pretty sure that's nothing to be surprised since I just heard of them from AVGN long ago but never checked them out till recently and I don't live in the states and never been interested in magic. I've only seen the Fool us shows and 3 seasons of Bullshit, Teller doesn't talk there. I know Teller is not mute(I looked it up) but this was the first time I actually heard him talk.
All that aside the comment was meant to be comical.
+BaSH PROMPT (ಠ,ಠ) don't watch the India episode than... you're not going to like it...
+Casian Lionheart not even funny or original, he talks all the time in lectures and interviews.
You know David I should reply to your comment defending myself but I see you don't read other comments just jump right in so I guess there's no point. Also looks like 35 people found it to be funny but I'm sorry I can't please everyone in the world.
This is the first time I've heard Teller talk. And he's got a really good voice.
Big clive the electronics guy!!!
Ey bigclive😆, do you like magic as well?
@@kaumohlamonyane272 Huge fan of Pen and Teller.
Wow he doesnt sound at all like Id thought hed sound...
It's a trick
I don’t care how many times I see the clear cups and balls trick. I will NEVER not be amazed at their skill and ability to time each other perfectly
Watching Teller laugh uncontrollably was magic!
I like to think the dude eating a brick was just having supper and they confused it for a magic trick lololol

This isn't specific to this episode or anything, but I just think whoever they hired to cartoonify Penn & Teller for the intro nailed it. Teller's distinct lip shape, Penn's winning and slightly smug grin. Spot on
I definitely agree!
right? I was looking for this comment. It almost has a throwback to early 60s style, only cleaner. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact this was done by the CBC? Those damn quaint Canadians. :D
Yes. I'm one of them.
100% agree. Even with today's modern animation tech when people try to copy a real person's face into an animation, it looks really different.

I've heard Teller talk before, so that wasn't a surprise. What is engaging is when he does speak, wisdom drops like rain in the amazon. So very intelligent.
The reason why he doesn't talk much is because he thinks very long and hard before he talks.
@@dylanmonstrum1538 yeah a gift I could learn...good point heheh
@@testpattern23 me too man
Someone able to play Teller like that is truly talented. Teller is one of the best magicians in the world, and his sleight of hand is unmatched. I love how he's like a little kid when someone is legit able to bamboozle him.
It’s because he underestimated him
it's especially touching seeing Teller's reactions to some of the acts on Fool Us. I've seen him brought to tears on couple occasions.
He's such a genuinely nice person. (though I've never met him.)

I really hope that he understands how well he did fool Teller with the cups and balls trick. It looked from an outside observer that Teller knew the whole thing when in reality it was a great performance.
He does not care who teller or Penn is he doesnt give a damn about whether they fooled him or not
It's like u r 22 and your younger brother is 5 and u show that you r stronger than him
This is what I think
Im sure they explained Teller's shock through the translator off camera, since they met later at his home to exchange tricks and stories.
@@jaswik2023 go outside edge Lord
Jaswik. They are renowned magicians, I’m sure they are well studied and aware of each other. He’s a stage magician that performs in Dubai, not some villager with ancient powers.
And tellers is one of the most famous and renowned magicians in the world.
This is what I think
yeah that was unfortunate....Teller was trying to be humble but instead it seemed like knew everything. i hope that he explained himself as the Egyptian Magician seemed a little disappointed imo that his moves were seen ...even though technically they werent.
"He shows us the first trick he learned as a child"
28:20 Proceeds with trick involving a lit cigarette kept in his mouth
Sounds about right
41:54 Teller's face... It's really hard to explain how much it hits you being in those old tombs and ruins in person. Seeing with your own eyes the grandiose ancient structures, battered and faded by the sands of time. The great men who built them, long gone and long forgotten. And yet, they're still almost as imposing as they must have been when they were first built, thousands of years ago.
Egypt is an old country with an exceptional ability to make you feel... small, in a way.
teller speaks.. omfg I can die happy now
+beachbummm69
You can find a lot of videos of him doing interviews and snippets of him talking to fans.
beachbummm69 He talks, there is a reason why he does not talk that much in public right?
zzz pasta its just an act
beachbummm69 I also had a mini seizure 20yrs I haven't heard his voice for the first 5 yrs I thought he was mute
@@zzzpasta1969 he has explained his philosophy that, as a magician, once you tell someone "this is a normal *blank* (deck of cards, coin, hanky)" the viewer automatically assumes he's lying and therefore kinda "knows" how the trick it done at least vaugly. So in order to strengthen his act he avoids lying all together by just not speaking at all.
"Because, when you're The Great Baffa, what are compliments from Teller?" while he walks away followed by a cohort of laughing, prudent children... That's a classy moment of beauty and poetry.
I smiled all along this piece. Not condescending at all. Wonder and joy are universal.
27:35 "It looked to me like he put a snake in his mouth... and had it come out of his mouth." Lmao I love the heavy sarcasm from Penn
@nusic 🤣🤣no he isn't, shut up
I never get tired of their cup and ball trick
WTF...... is that guy just casually chomping on a brick?!?!?
I'll have you know, that is a gluten free, dairy free, organic, free range, non gmo, pure breed, marinated, fed distilled water, power washed, layer by layer technique, steel beam reinforced, glazed with lavender oil, packaged in the finest papyrus, traveled by 102 day old goats from the Himalayas, gold plated, and seasoned with 42 assorted herbs and spices.
I'll have that with fries please!
... Stale dried bread? idk.
That was the glasseater that penn was talking about... It's a performance.
Casually? Dude struggled
37:17 Teller's hit of LSD kicks in.
I ALMOST DIED😂😂😂
Tho no lds was used :( they are both drug and Alcohol free, and always have..

Hilarious
Love how they roasted David Copperfield by making the pyramids "disappear"
how is that a roast?
@@centralprocessingunit2564 at -28:53 (edit: it's at 21:13) it's basically the same trick that Copperfield used to make the statue of liberty disappear. The audience was sitting on a rotating platform and the statue was hidden behind one of the pillars that looked transparent but wasn't.
Penn & Teller "perform" this so badly and revealing that it obviously was a joke.
Here is the Copperfield trick: ruclips.net/video/823GNH4Rczg/видео.html

I also, was very happy about this. (Though in the back of my mind I can't help but think someone war voicing over for him xD)
juddjames Me too.. I couldn't believe what I was watching.. I laughed!
same here
when I heard someone talking I looked up to see who it was and I saw Teller and my jaw dropped like :O
Teller speaks when he's not playing the part of Teller the magician, it's a thing he adopted for his stage persona because it made people pay more attention when he was first starting out. Watch them do talks if you want to see him talk more.
just saw teller talking! I have no more regrets.
watch the penn n teller at google talks.
Hahahah!!! First time i saw too! Awesome! Thanks for sharing though!
Heard
Magician: How many balls are under each cup?
Teller: There's 1 ball under each cup.
Magician: You are correct!
Teller: Wow! You fooled me!
and "Fool Us" is born … who knew that the best way to fool them was to trick them into only thinking you tricked them but you just switched witch ball was under what cup.

its always the 3 of clubs with Penn and teller
It is the oldest trick of all.
Penn answered the question why us it always the 3 of clubs by saying g a dark card is easy for cameras to pick up .
URBAN LEGEND: Why 3 of Clubs?
Penn & Teller began their career with a 3rd magician that was clubbed to death by a disgruntled audience member that got offended by a failed trick.
It's Penn's favorite card...it rather easy trivia
It's also on their tombstone which they bought in advance many years ago.

teller was fooled in close up sleight of hand.
19:14
@@centralprocessingunit2564 he was fooled but In a different sense then a random person would have been fooled
On 19:40 ish I'm glad that Teller's identical twin brother Keller actually talks . Its amazing how identical they really look. Same with Penn's identical twin brother Benn.
Something about that second guy, Baffa, he had a real sense of sadness to him.
He sold his soul to Anubis.
baffa isn't sad hes content, hes a man of many talents and few needs, he performs for the children and that makes baffa happy, he then goes home to his condemned flat and enjoys a brick with a grin on his face lasting until the morning
be like baffa
He's the village fool.. And he doesn't know.

Watching Teller watch that cups and balls routine is my most favorite thing I’ve seen in magic.
37:13 the Greatest moment of Penn and Teller History.
Pen and Teller laughing to death.
I've seen the Penn and Teller cup and ball routine a hundred times and it never gets old
The segment at 19:26 is great looking back on it 15 years later. With a series now about magicians and illusionists fooling Penn and Teller with technique and knowledge about their art, Teller's line at the end of this portion is a beautiful foreshadowing.
I came here just to find this scene, thanks for the timestamp.
Love this show and love the old version of tv, which is much more calm than many of today's footage.
33:47 this is the kinda stuff I signed up for, I just want to see these professional performers act like people and best friends on a vacation
I watch this only for Karam. around 19:50 when he picks up the end cup, you can see him pick up the ball with his last two fingers and curl them as if to palm it. THEN as the cup comes down his fingers stop, he deposits the ball back under the cup and curls his fingers as if he is still palming the ball. I believe he can do the trick better but he didn't know how knowledgeable Tellers is so he made the pantomime broad so Teller wouldn't miss it. However Teller saw Karam drop his two fingers while the cup was still in the air and politely looked away to allow for the palm, and he missed the move entirely. Karam performed the palm much more discretely earlier in the video, it was broad on purpose. It is so subtle because he is miming such a subtle movement to begin with. SO SMOOTH! I can talk about it, I know exactly how he does it, but dammit he is good!
i think penn actualy knew he was tricked.
UnYin99 ...how many times did u have to rewind to catch that.... genius
46:08 potato moves in cup, and Teller has a very subtle and very brief moment of surprise on his face as the cup moves on its own lol
Wow I didnt even notice it the first time and I was trying to concentrate :\
His clap was so on point too
in an egyptian tomb too, super weird
@The Bee Guy when he loads the potato into the cup, it was placed into the cup with an uneven side to the potato facing the surface of the table, so when it rested on the table, gravity did the rest and made the potato tip over, thereby moving the cup
I am from Egypt and we loves you pin and teller you are more than welcome to visit Egypt at anytime
Bravo! Great show, and thanks for the tour. Aside from the wonderful faces it makes me doubly glad to be here in the USA.
37:17 Teller laughing is GOLDEN! Almost fell out of my chair with him.
17:07 I want to go one of their shows and yell ''HEY TELLER; THE SPHINX IS BIG!''

I’ve seen them live and their show a hundred times but 37:18 is my favorite Penn n Teller moment. 🥰. You get to see the real Penn & Teller.
Teller voice is so calm and collected, he is been keeping it fresh all those years
penn and teller were so good during the tomb trick that WITH CLEAR CUPS AND THEM DOING IT THE SAME I STILL COULD NOT FOLLOW.
That's the beauty of the trick. Even Teller couldn't figure out how he got it right when the guy performed it in front of him.
He was sure the three balls are in the middle cup not one on each cup.
Relies
"and this isn't juggling, this is.." me: "misdirection". feeling all clever.
looking back at the cup: Teller's already done. "FUCK!"
I love how Teller doesn't talk on stage, those that don't know how him are shocked at how soft and elegant his voice is.
27:35 "wow he put a snake in his mouth." Penn telling exactly how the trick is done while making it sound like a compliment😂

If you listen closely at 46:00 while they are doing the balls and cups trick, you can actually hear Penn drop one of the balls back in the cup. It totally reverberates inside that place. Really amazing.
We had great seats for a Philadelphia show where they ended with the cups and balls. Using clear cups made no difference at all. Just top-level entertainment. By the time we made it out to the lobby, both were there thanking people in person for coming. Teller gave me a very warm, "hello" and "thank you" which I will never forget. Great chaps.
HOLY POOP! HE SPOKE!!! lol Great stuff gentlemen! Loved the clear cup demo! It is fun to watch the tricks without knowing how their done, but in my humble opinion, it is FAR MORE IMPRESSIVE to know how it is done so that one can marvel at the exceptionally polished skills and moves that can only be gained by THOUSANDS of hours of practice!!
omgg watching teller lose it with "road fatigue" had me giggling too!
Lol.. 45:33, you can hear Penn drop the ball in the cup :) The downside of a room that amplifies every sound a thousand fold. :)
Which makes it even more amazing that you don't hear every single ball drop.

Whoa.. What on earth happened to Teller at 37:38? I can't tell if he is crying or laughing. I feel a bit bad for him..
He is laughing his ass off because he is tired. It happens to me too when I have a long and stressfull day. Where I come from people usualy say something along the lines of : "You've snapped you'r laughing gland". Once I was sitting in the kitchen just eating my dinner and I saw two pigeons on the roof of a neighboring building. I started laughinhg so hard that appeared as if I was crying.
