i only watched the last 10 minutes , but glad Sweden won , or else people would have endlessly ( and rightfully so ) complained about the winger goal from *Mertens* where his foot was touching the ground for half a second before he got the shot off ( and ref stood right next to him and did nothing ).
All i can say is , Handball is a great sport, but needs at least half a dozen improvements !

@@tk80mufa5 No they are not, once he lifted his right foot he commited that his left should have been planted until the throw was made. Such as its done in a 7m. Otherwise you could walk sideways....
He lifted his right foot after the whistle, then sat it down and lifted his left before the ball left his hand.
It is what it is now, but it wasnt a regular goal. Dont try to defend it, rules go against it. Its just that the referees missed it and made a couple of mistakes leading to the end result. Enjoy your medal
@@tk80mufa5 if you listen to swedish tv mostly all players said that they are not allowed and shouldnt comment but some said it was a scandal and whats the point of VR if its not used.
I think I would know how our players feel... Looking at all the swedish interviews

Quand c'est la France qui se fait voler (la dernière coupe du monde de rugby ), tout le monde nous traite de mauvais perdants, mais bizarrement, quand c'est la France qui gagne sur un tir qui semble illégal (après l'avoir revu, il m'apparaît valide), tout le monde crie au scandale. Mais même si le monde est contre nous, l'important c'est qu'on gagne, peut importe les rageux qui bavent 💪🇨🇵

Somewhere in the multiverse, France ends on 3rd place after that terrible performance in the Sweden vs France game, by the referees and the entire staff sitting and watching every deep detail of the game, where not one single individual raised an eyebrow to watch video on that French disaster of a goal.
This is what the tournament in 2024 will be remembered as.
Terrible efforts from those two referees and the entire federation watching.

according to German sports media which can be regarded as neutral in this case , the interpretation of the rule allows for a foot switch as long as at least one foot is slightly touching the ground even if only with toes , it is a regular clean good goal
the rule doesn't specify that the foot contact has to be the same continuous foot
i would post the direct link shortened , but even that YT or admin seems to have deleted multiple tries of me yesterday posting the article ( which obviously you would need to translate )
apart from that , i agree that some overall ref changes need to be made ,
also the refs should have checked the Video Review , also because of the in my view problematic situation with the possible Mem offensive foul or if it is defensive foul - wrong distance for the free throw
there where multiple problems during the finale minute unfortunately
but let's not forget , that the Swedish team was also leading by two goals and managed to choke / bottle it !
@@tk80mufa5 I am no referee, but I listen to the many many experts who spend their lives in the world of handball, and I've not heard one of them say that there was no need to double check that goal.
There were plenty of cause to check that goal, especially considering the other times on far less cause they've used it.

but to call the goal "a disaster" is not right - if it is up for interpretation it means different refs would have differently judged the goal
hopefully they will come together and specify the rule , Sweden HF already said they were gonna lobby to improve situations like that in the future and not make it happen again
