Ahhh thank you for this. Many people find the opening sequences to be boring and slow, but they don't know shit about pacing. As a spectator, slowly sinking into the mood with these soothing sounds, practically booting up your mind along with the ship has always been one of my favorite things about the first movie, really getting the viewer into the atmosphere and giving a great foundation for the coming events.
Thanks for taking the trouble to do this. I'm a writer and editor, and having quiet yet eerie ambient sounds like this creates a great environment to work in. No kidding. Please do it more! The sound design for the movie is outstanding. I saw it in the theaters when I was a kid and from the moment the ship appeared, outside and in, the sounds told me something very bad was going to happen. It was scary before any living beings appeared - except for the water-dipping birds, of course. Well done, and keep it coming!

Hey, I hear you - SERIOUSLY! I've poured a sweat, toil and tears into my work and so much of the time not knowing if anyone out there was hearing it at all. Back in November, I started submitting my work to magazines all over. A few months ago, after making a hundred pitches, easily, ONE finally got printed. Two weeks ago another one was accepted. And this was after countless hours of writing, editing, and polishing my sales skills while listening to excellent ambient mixes like yours.
You're NOT working in a vacuum! Keep going, and thanks!
