      +Jeffrey Lebowski American Sniper is a controversial film. I think the producers, the director Clint, even Bradley understood that when they made the film. Although it didn't get much appreciation from the award-giving bodies like the Oscars or the Golden Globes, its performance at the box office makes it a financial success. And so it did turned to gold nonetheless.

    • @nutterbipple
      @nutterbipple 8 лет назад +4

      blognewb It is very controversial, what are you saying? The movie drew a lot of negative reviews and responses from critics/moviegoers alike. The controversy revolves mainly on glorifying American elitism, racism-misleading generalization of Muslim stereotypes, and many more. Google the movie, it's like the only thing you'll find about it. You're right on it being inaccurate though. The movie deviates a lot from the book; in other words, it got Hollywood-ed.

      Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is possibly my favorite film of all time. It's easily my top 3, but Kate Winslet isn't exactly the centerpiece of it to me, she was just fine, maybe the character just isn't likeable and that's why? She's a great actress, but Hillary Swank in Million Dollar Baby was such a passionate performance. I think it's because Hillary was having to prove herself.

      And both times, it seems, she came in second. Like, she would've won if not for Swank. The first time, in 2000, she was the clear frontrunner for most of the season and and had the narrative (i.e. she was heavily pregnant, and her husband Warren Beatty received an honorary Oscar the same night) , and the second time people were predicting her because Swank had already won and Bening was seen as overdue.

Personally I believe that she should have won for Conviction. This year for eg. How can you compare one to another...for eg, Dame Judi Sandra Bullock to Meryl Streep. How do you compare these performances (?)

    This was a very tough year as Imelda Staunton was heartbreakingly good in Vera Drake and Winslet exceptional also. But for pure power and gut wrenching emotion Hilary comes out top. The whole movie was so different to the normal Hollywood "underdog comes out on top" fare that we are so used to seeing. That's why won big on the night for best actress and also best picture, best director clint Eastwood and best supporting actor Morgan freeman. And to think swank once started in the next karate kid!!
