when the upper halves of the pitcher brown up like that, it's not that they are half dead. It is instead that the plant has achieved a nutrient content inside the pitcher that is sufficient. The plant begins the programmed cell death of the upper half to resrict the size of the opening, so It doesn't lose any more water, which would increase the concentration to an unwanted level. I usually leave all my pitchers until they brown completely. Much more vigor to your plant that way. Either way, nice greenhouse and keep up growing them Neps! I love those little carnviores
If you're fertilizing nepenthes by putting fertilizer in the pitcher, a safer way to do it is to put it in the half dried pitchers - the lower part will still absorb the nutirents as long as it has liquid in it - it is fine to pour in some water too, and if the fertilizer is too strong and kills the pitcher.... well, it is half dried anyway. That way you don't risk your good pitchers.
Great video! Can we use any Osmocote slow release fertilizer? Or just then Plus formula? I really need to repot mine what kind of sand did you use to mix in your potting mix?
Please tell me by soil you meant “peat moss”? Carnivorous plants grow in nutrient poor conditions, and giving it regular soil, even if cutting it with perlite and sand is not a great idea.
Hello, do you think you can do an update on your deflasked orchids? I really look forward to this to see how they've evolved. hhh Btw, Nice new hair color. :)
@@janashellbug I read that if this happens that means the plant is not getting enough humidity. You can use a spray bottle on it to raise the humidity.
Yeah... I was going to say the same. Watered down coffee is okay. And if you're lacking in insects you can use thawed blood worms, or dried mealworms. But I never put chemical fertilizers on my nepethes. It will make your leaves wither and the pitchers dry off, because you're burning the roots.
@@sauradeepsolotraveller6992 normal fertilizer is harmful for nepenthes, most of the time. lots of people use maxsea 16-16-16 orchid fertilizer mix at 1/4 strength and spray on leaves. avoid spraying the soil (or sphagnum)

Thanks for sharing! Did not know this.
I’ve had great luck with just misting the entire plant twice a day in the morning and at night I haven’t had any pitchers die since
Whole time im bummed out thinking I killed mine. Thank you for the tip 😄
@@tannerhicks7155 I do mine 3 times a day and it is also doing really well :)

great looking plants! i hope mine look like that one day :)

maxsea 16-16-16 orchid fertilizer mixed at 1/4 strength and applied as a foliar spray is good. try not to get it on the spagnum or growing medium.
If we cut the pitcher, it will grow again at the same place?
No

Nepenthes are the most tolerant to nutrients In the soil but still not a good idea to use normal potting soil unless the nutrients are flushed out
50/50 long strand sphagnum moss and perlite it the best.
If I given N P K 19 19 19 fertilizer istead of osmocote ( N P K 19 6 12) then any problem
If I use 19 19 19 then any problem? And 1/4 means what?

Hello! Where are you located?
What if your plant isn’t growing pitchers and has none. The plant is healthy and green but no cups.
It means it's getting lot of fertilizer so there's no need to grow them
Emanuel Hernandez thank you. That’s too bad. I love the cups

Thanks for the video! Stupid, but glad to see another Vietnamese person interested in the hobby!

Why there is more expousure to the host than to the subject.😟
i think you're nepenthes is not healthy because pitchers dying
They do that sometimes. The pitchers don't last forever
One tip:NEVER give fertilizer to nepenthes.EVER
I can give light amount like coffee works good with mine

Why ? But this video suggest to give small amount of fertilize. Is fertilize is harmful for Pitcher plant

She is so cute hello I’m a boy this is my mother
It looks like you are stressing your plant out. All your pitchers are dead or dying and your stems are dying. Doesnt look healthy.
From the bottom up?
