@ashirtlesspandaman getting everything into a timeline, in roughly the right order is what they do in movies too! It's called an "assembly cut." The trick is to keep going over that timeline again and again. Each time you will spot stuff to tweak. It's not difficult, just boring.

I never worked on an FPS, so I'm building this particular plane as it takes off. It's a lot of fun. When I was first asked to do this, I researched a ton of critically aclaimed animation and read a lot of criticism of those works. I always like to learn from experts, and that seemed like the closest thing. I think in the future, I'd love to take an actual film or editing class.
