Through 2019 and 2020 a series of videos covering the Capcom vs SNK games. These included Capcom vs SNK, Capcom vs SNK 2, SNK VS Capcom Match of the Millenium and SNK vs Capcom SVC Chaos. Using assets from said videos, I have combined them to creat a 70 minute long documentary. Enjoy!

Part one on Dreamcast had the coolest stage intros of any fighting game I know.. I wish they would do this in a new game
Capcom vs SNK 1 the 4 button layout works the best, I hate MP and MK all low and high for me, for that and the coolest intros to matches make this a far superior game than the second.
@@jerebyrd2563 Nah the extended roster and the new mechanics plus more attacks with MP + MK makes CvS2 much better.
Never played the first but i will try it out soon. The second game is on a pedestal along with mvsc2
The 2nd game is better overall, but yhe 1st one has a much stronger presentation. Those stage intros are still unmatched.
@@Pewpewpew182 yeah I agree, part 2 brought a lot of cool changes and additions and expanded the roster. I still think the Last Blade series has the best presentation tho
This overview of the Capcom vs SNK series is fantastic! Thank you for including SvC Chaos, as this game is criminally overlooked. Despite it's flaws, I found the mechanics (Guard Cancel Front Step, Front Grand Step, and Exceed) to be nice additions to the game. I also believe that, while CvS2 is superlative, CvS1 is also not given it's just due. The stage intros are some of the best I've ever seen, even to this day, and the it's very well polished game overall.
Remember the train ride back home from the shop with Cvs.S and 3rd. Strike for the DC! Was so high on KoF and SF in the 90s!

I've been high on those two games since 21 years ago.
The top three reasons I had for buying a Dreamcast:
- Street Fighter III: 3rd. Strike
- Capcom vs. SNK
- Soul Calibur

Loved CvS2. Such a classic game. A shame that this crossover came about right when SNK would cease to exist.
Yea I'd myself personally associate this with the fact the company was sold to gambling machines in japan and the parent company had no interest in dealing with the video game culture or appealing to its fans outside of panchiko slot machines that and how senior management just rushed out the Snk version of SVC chaos .....instead of taking full advantage of the deal and developing a deep and wonderful ultimate version of KOF 99 that included capcom characters .....had they started development and focused on it as the next KOF game after KOF 98/99 it probably would have been way better then KOF 2000

I saw the length of this video and my biceps 💪 started popping! Epic! Awesome! CAPvSNK2 is one of the best 2D fighters if not THE best. It needs to be remade with modern graphics and some of the jank fixed, but the 6 groove and ratio system just gave the game an endless amount of replay ability. Sooo good!

I never really liked the music and most of the backgrounds' color palette, however the gameplay was pretty solid.
I always used to write stories and draw pictures on who were the toughest fighters in these universes. For some reason I was always drawn more to the SNK games. The original Fatal Fury made you feel like the world you were in was alive.

I played both of these to the moon and back cvsnk1 and 2 and 2 by far was amazing and part1 with those intros is just to die for. back then that was super dope.

in Chinese, the pronunciation of VS can kinda sound like “beat the crap out of”, so some Chinese gamers referred to the first game as Capcom beating the crap out of SNK characters due to balancing favoring Capcom and vice versa for the second. Extra fun fact.

Absolutely loved Capcom vs SNK back on the Dreamcast. I used to rinse in out as a 16-17 year old, such good memories of the early 2000's
Fantastic history on the game mate and love this title a lot. One of my favourite 2d fighter and think the roster is spot on as well. Loads a characters I feel comfortable using right off the bat Was a fun change of pace from previous ones I'd played. Nice review as always 👍🏴🤩☕

I remember spending hours on CVS2 with my friends. I ended up trading it in for $5. Now the same game is selling for hundreds.

Great video, but you could have mentioned at some point the creator of almost every title included in that series Takashi Nishiyama. And how he was responsible for getting the series off the ground. As SNK was struggling financially at the time Takashi thought up the cross over and contacted Okamoto at Capcom and convinced him as he felt that it would be a win win for both companies (source: interview 1up presents issue 3) Of course we all know that Capcom would come out the bigger winner in the end of this. Also Takuma Sakazaki is called Mr.Karate as his fist game was Street Smart were he was known as Karate Man. Street Smart was SNK's second fighting game ever, and some of the music in Street Smart was featured in there next fighting game Fatal Fury.

I love all these games as a big SF/KOF fan. Cap vs SNK 2 is my favorite fighting game of all time. I just recently started playing all the old KOF games again.
I seriously didn’t care for the 1st CvS. Now CVS2 is where it’s at. I was obsessed with it, I was in high school. I was an autistic mute in school, and I couldn’t wait to get home and play it, along with mvc2

SVC Chaos is one of my favorite fighters and is neck and neck with Capcom vs. SNK 2, in my book. I love classic Neo Geo graphics and gameplay. People who disagree most likely just don’t appreciate classic games.

CvS2 was and still is one of the best fighters. As a huge fan of KOF and SF, this game was a godsend. I loved Capcom's sprites of all the SNK characters and some of the new sprites of Capcom characters like Eagle and Maki. And that stk. Was so in love with that game

Neo Geo Pocket's one of the best handhelds ever created but. Them clicky directions, mmmm. Like popping bubble wrap haha.
I had no issues with the Dualshocks, but the NGPC sits as one of my most prized gaming devices.

Great documentary also CVS has THE BEST FIGHT INTROS IN ANY FIGHTING GAME EVER.....simple as that CVS2 didn't continue the trend and it was a shame.

Capcom vs SNK 2 for the xbox was the height of the streetfighter franchise.

Can you do a vid on King of Fighter Maximum Impact 1 and 2 (aka KOF 2006 on PS2 in USA). Maximum Impact 2 had awesome gameplay and a enormous amount of content, I remember always having something to do or unlock in this game. I really wish they would continue this series
This series paved the way for both devs to show their stuff. No matter which platform. Loved CvS 1&2, never played the Neo Geo entry because it was difficult to find. SvC.. That is a sore spot. Funky gameplay, weird timing, music was hit and miss, and difficulty was insane.
If CvS were to return.. That would be wild. But that's just a dream.
Because of the recent switch port I hope soon to see a Capcom Vs SNK 3
As a hard core 2-D fighting game lover, I liked SVC chaos personally. Yeah the graphics may seem primitive compared to earlier releases in the franchise, but it plays great, and definitely looks better than GTA3. 🙄

"Yun is the only character from SF3" kinda...Chun-li had her sprite redraw to look like how she look in third strike. Also Ryu, Ken and Bison were redraw in CVS1, not CVS2 lol.

You said to correct you if you were wrong… as far as “home” consoles, you are correct that this was the first fighter from Capcom on a Nintendo system, however, the GameBoy Color and the GameBoy Advance did each receive games from Capcom; Street Fighter Alpha came out on the GameBoy Color while Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Super Street Fighter II Turbo: Revival came out on the GameBoy Advance.

Imagine that if the SNK vs Capcom Neo Geo Pocket color game that just came out on Nintendo Switch sold well enough that both companies made a Collection that included a HD Remix version that not only included the classic games in their OG versions but they took their time and made an Ultra Hyper version of CVS 2 that had all the characters and gameplay of CVS 2 but included all the stages of CVS 1 , 2 and even SvC Chaos linking all the stages and characters .....meaning you had all the beautiful stages of CVS 1 and 2 and remix updated versions of SvC chaos ....
I didn't knew they released that on the Switch, adding it to my grocery list.
One of the most standout features to me from the KOF and SF series were the music. Tones and melodies that gave you all you needed to know about the character, much like a film score. In fact, it's my only complaint against SFA3. Once Capcom started going for more EDM or Hip-Hop (Both perfectly fine styles of music) in general, getting away from character based themes, it was a downhill trend IMO.

My only regret with the NGPC is not buying the link cable for the Dreamcast so I could get the extra cards from Capcom vs SNK on my Cardfighter Clash games.
I just was playing SvC on my finished Neo Geo collection just last night!
I'm now curious about the references to rhe games in the CvS2 backgrounds.
In the case of Morrigan,I can see where cats are comin' from as far as her looking dated.personally,it never bothered me.i could never be picky about animations whenever it came to 2-D fighters.possibly because I've always been a sucker for 2-D hand-drawn animation.besides,the same thing could be said about Marvel vs Capcom 2,as far as copy and paste characters.To me,Morrigan is still a blast to use in Capcom VS SNK Pro and Capcom VS SNK 2,as well as Marvel VS Capcom 2.However,if this kind of thing was still going on in the 3-D fighting games such as Marvel VS Capcom 3, Ultra Street Fighter 4,and Sfv,THEN,I would have a serious problem with it.

As a teen over 25 years ago, I long to see a game featuring both Capcom & SNK fighters.
Having owned Capcom vs SNK Pro & the Neo Geo Color game, it would be great to see another vs game with both companies' fighters. I doubt we're see one anytime soon however.
I have Millennium Match on the NGPC and it's probably my favorite handheld fighter of all time.

You can get the neo geo pocket snk vs capcom on switch for a cheap price. Also there's a bundle of several neo geo color pocket games.
The sequel is a better game from a gameplay perspective, of course. But I do like the presentation of the first game better. The tone, the stages, the music, etc. It's just quite a bit better. Although the aged Darkstalker and Alpha sprites are super disappointing compared to the more newly drawn ones.
