    My Lee Cooper's are still holding it's been 8 years and has this tan patina to it which i like and i got at a cheap price. Been using old shoe polish that's it. I think leather boots are best investment.

    I know I'm almost a year late to the party, but this was a very good honest look of the boots and one I fully concur with! I've had three pairs of Thursdays, my first dating back almost four years now and got a ton of wear. I had the same issues mostly, leather has held up very well, the insole sucks and I added my own after about a year and half of use as the other flattened out and was worthless. Sole wear been much better than expected with only moderate heel wear to show which is easy replacement for $25.

    • @TheMensch
      @TheMensch  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I think my major issue is the insole. If they made them with a real veg tan leather footbed and some real cork they’d have more of a winner.

    Question: I'm going to get a pair and i want to wear them for work. I got a pair of their sneakers and want decent boots, too. I've noticed there are 2 colors with tread on the bottom, rather than the somewhat smooth bottom on your boots. Does that boot have reasonable good grip? I'm worried about slipping on a wet shop floor, or a smooth tile floor. They don't look as slick as dress shoes or other hard bottom shoes, but I can't tell from videos how hard the bottom is. Thoughts?

    • @TheMensch
      @TheMensch  4 года назад +1

      I don’t find myself slipping as the bottom has a pretty grippy feel - but I think if it’s a priority than why not go for the lug sole? Unless you find a leather that you like more I’d say try the lug sole out. Could always return for free if you don’t like upon opening

      That’s a really awesome point! For more people, and myself included I would rather spend the $100 for a new pair and have the old ones as backups. That’s why it’s probably worth investing in a higher quality boot that you won’t want to replace even when the soles wear out!

    Two years of that pair, and not a single resole? Damn, talk about making the best out of your purchase.

      Haha well they could probably use one!

    insoles don't last 2 years. the life is 6 months after that they aren't really doing anything.

      So what does one do to boots once the insole is worn out after 6 months?

    You casual boot people are crazy. 2 godamn speed laces broke off and it might need resoling for someone who only used them to go to work! And you're happy that a 200 dollar boot got damaged like that. Meanwhile he could be wearing a cheap pair of sneakers or some discounted mainstream hiking boot and they'd have held up much better than that. This is so odd..
    Those should be looking like after 2 years of "walking to work". No excuse.

      Bruh it’s every day use going to work, and probably much more than that these things held up like a beast and buying a cheap pair of boots would have already fallen apart probably by the first 8 months to a year.
