    Thanks for the clock-wise wire marking tip. And, the pointer amount lining up the interior rotor. This should be a cake-walk now.

    THE PART THAT PLUGS INTO THE CAM IS ASYMMETRICAL! These instructions make it sound like there's only one way to fit this into the cam, this is true but it will go in and just break the teeth off ruining the distributor (ask how I know). I took a picture of the end of the cam to make certain that the wide side was on the correct side to match up with the metal teeth.

    Thanks Mike ! This was exactly what I needed to see too for the same problem. I had a pinhole leak in that lower hose and could never have gotten to it without taking the distributor off. I was afraid to take it off until I saw you do it. I immediately went to the car and went to work fixing the problem. Thanks again !

    Thank you very much for the reply. Here's an update buddy:
    Turned out that coincidentally the starter in my car failed. After that was replaced, it was THEN my original distributor replacement failed. Since I was under warranty (and a couple of miles from the mechanic place, they towed the car for free and replaced my distributor.
    It's working now, but I will have the belts checked - see if a replacement is necessary. I appreciate all you do! Sorry it took so long to respond :)

    Thanks for the video. I changed the distributor on my 98 accord. It won’t run after. Do you think I had moved the rotor ? Because I didn’t pay attention to where the rotor was pointing to. If this is the case, I can turn the rotor the other way and reinstall it,and it should run, right? Thanks

    @mujhonda In the video I believe that the hood just wasn't latched down, and slightly proped up. If you have a bend in the hood, there's not really a whole lot you can do to straighten it out. You may need to buy a new one.

  • @Al_Swilling
    @Al_Swilling Год назад

    An easy way to get the position of the rotor correct is to notice that the distributor rotor shaft connects with the camshaft with tongues and grooves. There are tongues on the distributor rotor shaft, and grooves on the camshaft. The tongues and grooves are offset -- off center. So, there is only one way that the camshaft and distributor will connect. If the tongues and grooves are aligned and engaged, then the rotor is in the correct position. Once the tongues and grooves engage and the distributor is bolted in place, the ignition timing will be correct. That is to say, the rotor button will be aligned with the correct plug wire tower. You literally cannot get it wrong if you're paying attention.

    If there's a check engine light on you should have the code pulled, the code should tell you what is failing in the system,causing you to fail the emissions test.

    Have a 94 Accord LX in which I am going to replace the whole distributor. I know that its a bad ICM but instead of going thru the hassle of just replacing that, it makes better sense to replace the whole unit. Symptoms that I have knowing its a bad ICM is it starts when the engine is cold but when the engine is hot then the engine will die off or not start until cooled down. Question, I noticed that you didn't set the #1 cylinder to TDC. Is it not required for these early years Accords?

    I have a 95 accord that failed the low speed emissions test three times. After the first failure, I had new plugs put in, it failed again. Then, talking to several sources, one guy said add RXP. Did so, failed the third time. The high speed emission test passed each time. I took to Honda dealer, he said I needed to 1) replace distributor 1029 p+l. And replace O2 sensor, 531 p+l. Your thoughts?

    A1: do u know what part is underneath a 1999 Honda accord EX, driver side, front tire, underneath the hood, underneath the radiator coolant tank? I heard a loud pop the other day, looked underneath, and it seems to be a cracked plastic tank. Since the pop, the car is leaking water, and the leak is a stream and puddle leak. Any ideas what that part is? I looked up a diagram on the engine but can't seem to find that part. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

    I recently changed my distributor on my 1994 honda accord ex 2.2l 4 Cylinder and because I did not realize how I was supposed to match the groove of the rotor (Just now found this super helpful video) I simply aligned the rotor with the camshaft and inserted it without paying attention to where the groove was. I bolted everything back together and reconnected the wires and now it won't fully turn on. When I turn my key, the car engine/motor just spins. Chances are the groove messed me up. Since I have tried to crank my car numerous times already with the new distributor the camshaft has likely moved from when it had the old distributor and its original location when I took the original distributor off, so is there a marking on the camshaft that aligns with the mark(referred to around 3:46 in video) on the rotor ? Please get back to me soon, I need to get this car fixed immediately.
