Agree with all of these (and more 😂). My main conclusion on baby essentials is that you get what you need when baby is there (not before) and you get to know them and understand the new situation better, so you can better assess what you need rather than being led too much by other people's experiences. And the mantra should be "multipurpose" 😇 and not buying stuff specific for one purpose only cos it's often not necessary.

Agree with a lot of this! Our baby has lots of boogies so we do often use a $25 Amazon nasal aspirator and a pair of baby tweezers (which have rounded tips) that can be purchased for less than $1 on sites like Temu. But my sister's infant used the nose frida only a few times when sick. So it makes sense for some, but not all. I'd say stick to the squishy bulb nasal aspirator that you can get free from the hospital until you see what the need is for your child. And YES to the swaddle and burp cloth tip! We only used 3 swaddles--a really huge one that we got free from the hospital and halo swaddles in 2 sizes because my baby did sleep really well in those. So I had a whole stack of other swaddles that just sat... Burp clothes, we only used like 3 or 4 per week and did laundry once each weekend. We also reused them if there was just a few small spitup stains. We didn't constantly throw them in the laundry with every stain. For our first, a jumper and a swing were so handy too :) but we never used a bouncer or infant sitting activity center. 2 bath towels (we bought Kid size not infant to use them longer) and 2 washcloths are all we have used in the first year too. And we rarely used a baby carrier because we had the jumper/ swing for home and a really comfy Nuna Treva stroller that even infants can use (foot rest can come up to block baby from sliding down and backrest lays almost totally flat almost like a bassinet). With our first, we stayed home a lot so no need for a baby wrap/carrier. If you have multiple kids, maybe youll need it and be out of the house more. So dont buy until you know your needs after baby comes! I saw it recommended on so many prep videos but it was a waste of money for us :(

Omg the baby nail file made me laugh. My first baby (currently 2), you wouldn’t catch me doing her nails with anything but the little battery powered file. Now with my second I’m like “how did I ever have time for that thing?!” 😅

With the rocking chair, I actually bought one when she was almost 1.5, cause my back was killing me, and a year later we still use it. So it totally depends on what works for your family (I still nurse her to sleep and I'm ok with it).
If you feel like your back is killing you and you need the rocking chair, you can just buy one if you need it. It's a big item of furniture, so better save the space if you're unsure or just want to wait and see.
Just don't wait 1.5 years, because you don't want to spend the money 😅 your back will hate you for that

I also bought when my first was older (9 months) he was in his own room and I had no where to sit lol. Now with my second I only breastfeed in the chair. I love it lol. Funny how technically I could live without it I think it’s so useful and love it and have no regrets but for many ppl they don’t end up using!

Oh man the nasal aspirator was essential for both my babies as newborns and then again they got a cold as infants. They were so snotty they would want themselves up snorting so I had to do it almost every night until they were a few months old.

I actually loved the nose picker they are hard to reach lol and I use all the time if we’re on the go and there’s a booger it’s impossible to grab. I didn’t get a rocking chair with my first until he was 9 months and moved to his room and I had no where to sit and feed/rock him to sleep. Now with my second I only breastfeed in the chair if I’m home and I love it. It’s much more comfortable and I’m always using it lol

This was so relatable!! I have 3 and 1 1/2 year olds. (Also boys)
Also..I actually found the rocking chair I had was uncomfortable lol. I'll do it laying down or just sitting. I have ddd osteoarthritis scoliosis and fibromyalgia so lots of pain.
