Heavy/Medium Armor increases your chances of finding armor-crafting materials or pieces of armor. To find Armor magazines, you need to put points into an attribute (Str, Agi, Int, ect)

Some perks you missed that are honestly a lot better than some that you listed:
Pain Tolerance - Putting one point in it already boosts your damage resistance by 5% and stun resistance by 20%. Already that's good, but when you max it out you become immune to stuns and get a whopping 25% damage resistance, which the game translates to 25 points of armor. It is basically a 5th piece of armor with stun immunity being its bonus.
Motherlode - White Miner 69ner is better, it's twice as good with Motherlode since it increases harvest yields by 20% per level resulting in double harvest yields at rank 5. It's a pretty easy perk to max at the start and comes in handy much later when you're getting oil shale, coal, lead, or nitrate powder.
Advanced Engineering - This one may not be as useful very early game, but almost everyone uses a forge at some point or another, one point is good enough since it lowers wait times by 20% for the forge, the next level lowers workbench wait times by 20%, and the next few ranks lowers recipe costs by 10-45%.
Run and Gun - I was really surprised not to see this one on the list, it decreases the slow down effect by 30% when reloading, going up to completely removing the slow down effect while reloading. It also increases hipfire accuracy but overall the reload speed is better.
There are a few more perks, such as The Huntsman, Salvage Operations, Lockpicking, and Grease Monkey that are nice to have but not needed, all in all though the list of perks above I feel are a lot better than one's like Master Chef or Living off the Land. I enjoyed the list though.

Pain Tolerance is calculated after other damage calculations. So if you were going to take 10 damage from a hit after the damage reduction from armor you would instead take either 7 or 8 damage. Pain Tolerance is a bit better for light/medium armor builds where you will on average take more damage per hit, but it is a big point investment for non-fortitude builds.

    • @TrentHoffman-tq3lm
      @TrentHoffman-tq3lm 5 месяцев назад

@@BenCarnage sure but think about it a bit deeper, if you have 75% in base armor reduction you can lower that number to 0-1 damage with the perk, theres more in fortitude worth having than just pain tolerance like iron gut or #1 cardio, and honestly getting levels isn't too difficult if youre constantly doing quests and killing zeds, you would need 22 points for max pain tolerance sure but even if you dont need the extra 25% damage resistance you cannot deny that being immune to stuns is something EVERY BUILD needs/wants.

    • @BenCarnage
      @BenCarnage 5 месяцев назад

@@TrentHoffman-tq3lm I think you misunderstand. It is calculated after and multiplicatively, not additively. So if you have 80 % reduction from your armor already that 25 % removes 25 % of 20 %, giving you a total reduction of 85 %. It's not awful, but it is rarely very good. Iron Gut is only good if you actively use buffs and you want an easier time sustaining them, like chugging Mega Crush for the run speed to zoom through points of interest. Rule #1 just isn't strong. A very minor stamina regen boost while sprinting. Stun Immunity can also be gotten from Beer or the Raider helm. Stuns are also simply pretty rare if you play well. During hordes if you fight them outside or against certain trigger rooms maybe stun protection is a good idea. Unless you're playing very niche builds or if you are a very high level it's not something you'd spec for simply because there are better options. If I had the option between all of those skills COMBINED or Parkour level 2, I'd always take Parkour level 2. I'd take Run and Gun. I'd take Salvage Operations. Heck, I'd take Lucky Looter just to keep the rest of the skill points xD

I don’t see many people talk about animal tracker but just one point in it will have a little symbol show up on your compass indicating nearby chickens, rabbits, and snakes when you crouch. Early game it makes getting meat insanely easy. By day 5 I can have over 100 pieces of meat saved up. Even better if you combo with master chef so you can make bacon and eggs early. Just makes food a non-issue if you don’t wanna have to worry about it.
It won’t show the higher level animals unless you put more points into it but the bigger ones are easier to spot anyways so I don’t know if anything beyond the one point is useful.

I also used heavy armor and I put all 4 skill points into it, but I reskilled into light armor and it's so much more quality gameplay. In heavy armor you are slow like a tank even when you have all points into the skilltree. I mean you take less damage, yes, but when you get overruned by zombies it doesn't really matter, that you take a little bit less damage.
Petsonally I'd not recommend heavy armor in this game, because running faster and regenerating stamina faster is more important, than having a thick armor plate.

Heavy armour with the maxed out trees and mods on the armour means you lose 6% mobility so that’s not that big a deal when you have insane damage resistance but honestly all heavy armour needs to have critical injury resistance on it. So stupid that all armours minus specific pieces don’t reduce critical injuries.

Heavy armor is an all or nothing type of skill. It really depends on your playstyle. If you are going for a tank build and going all in with stats and armor mods, it is definitely worth it. 90 armor rating means 90% damage reduction, that is not "a little bit less damage". Max skills and mods also reduces the penalties A LOT.

There is s perk that I have noticed most 7 Days yo Die creators kind of hate, and I feel it is bad advice to "avoid it at all costs", as a lot of them suggest.
Pack Mule. You can in fact get the same effect with bag mods. However, early game, you're not going to be finding these very often, and usually it will be single slot.
If you are looting, your bags will fill quickly. The debuff from being encumbered increases. It slows you down, it makes you use a lot more stamina, and it increases your water and food usage.
With the "Forgettin Elixer" costing so much less now, if you need to replace those points later, it's very easy to.
I just don't see the point in slowing yourself down, just to hold out for bag mods that you aren't guaranteed to get. I don't even find them very often after maxing my loot perk.
Putting your points in to get pack mule is not going to waste your points. Dying because you lose stamina sucks.

Well early game the bartering with those helps but the cheesecake is for buying in bartering not for the selling.
If you maximize the bartering perk + suger candy (we all see that second word) + AWESOME sauce + a 44 magnum drawn (pluse the enforcer book ) + enforcer head gear..your selling will be the best. Add the cheesecake to maximize the buying power. NEXT you need the learning elixir (when you sell you get EXP for selling) then on your head gear with two slots i think you can have the cigar (more bartering). Then lastly the exp plus mod.
I think that about all. Unless you want more exp than bartering then you would use nerdy head gear.

All you need to do is Parkour, and the rest for BOOK drops. Follow simplified instructions below.
Yeah you always want 2 points into Parkour minimum always, its makes surviving so much easier. You pick one or two main Attributes as your overall focus, but 1 point into Salvage Operations, 1 into cooking, 1 into miner'69, 1 into each weapon you want to focus based on your Attribute picks (about 4 in total 2 melee 2 ranged), 1 point into either of the Armor skills so book drop is increased.
Heck why we are putting points into each of these is to increase starter Item drop and BOOKS of each, no dont worry this does really fight each other skills book drops in most cases. (Example, cupboards will not drop a magazine of armor or say pistols, but they will spawn in cook books.)
Basically the places any Magazine can drop, you just care if one spawned usually not which one really, as if you max a magazine cap, it will spawn less in the spots were all can spawn, but still spawn in its normal loot areas where only it spawns, Cook books are a great example of this.
More hints here if you want to read.
Survival helpful skill recommends other then Parkour lv 2 (cause two block jumping is king).
    - 1 point into hidden strike, and 1 point into From the shadows, will help you clear Tier 1 points until about lv 25 or so before several zombies really start spawning that have more HP then your sneak attack. Even then it softens up a ton to sneak attack then kill quick with another bow shot or melee hit. (plus that search timer is actually really useful at times, when trapped.)
    - once your HIgher lv 35 plus or so, 1 to 2 points into Run and Gun always helps, (mobility is king, hence Parkour is so good)
Run and gun tho is more a preference, not really needed.
    - 1 point into The Daring Adventurer I noticed really increase whats available in terms of rarity or even Quality Tiers the stores offer, where as no points its really just based on your level. (I dont think the devs either realized or secretly did this) This seems to be the case since 1.0 official release. More points does not seem to really affect this unless maxed out. Even then 1 point is good enough.
    - If you have the time and you need int lv 3 or 4 I think, 1 point into Physician to heal pesky sprains instantly with splints is very good to remove that annoying crit injury. Useful but not required. would wait til higher levels (40 plus) unless your focusing Int as a main stat.
    - 1 point in living off the land will increase seed books but, A: Mostly not cared about, B: will max quickly. The main reason is to double any wild plants you harvest for quick easy food. Would not rush this but would not wait on this, Get it by lv 25 give or take 5 levels.
(if you plan on farming, you MUST max this FIRST, otherwise its only worth planting seeds you find, and NOT making them.)
-1 point in Rule 1 Cardio, helps to making running around easier, especially if you get unlucky and not get a mini-bike by day 12-15 (yeah no points into grease monkey, and you can get a minibike real early still. its why I dont use that skill and even if they nerf it, Id just put 1 point in for magazines to rush to minibike and then not worry.)
    - 1 point into Penetrator helps after you start seeing rad zombies, and more armored ones (about arount lv 40-50 plus you might want this at least at 1 point. only more if you run Perception tree attribute.)
    - 1 point into lucky looter is fine for one reason, loot speed bonus, those extra .1 to .4 seconds saved can make a difference in running away with sniped loot runs/cop car loot. So unless your going perception and even then dont worry about it as much, you will hit max loot stage easily enough without it. (loot speed is the only real good thing about it. And its not needed.)
    Trap Skills
-Treasure Hunter is only good if maxed and at late game for buried hunts/focus on Buried Mission runs. DONT worry about it til way later.
-Most of the attack speed of melee weapons skill are only useful LATE game for certain needs, builds, and mod item combos. DONT worry about them til way later.
-Demolition skill is mostly if you want to use them but you really can get by without them even at day 999 or higher. Really overrated unless you want to exp farm on certain base builds. DONT worry about it.
    - Better Barter is nerfed enough that you dont need to worry about it til Late game, IF You plan on doing some cheesy buying/selling stuff. ( You will never truely neeed the skill, but you may like it if you focus INT builds. Do so after Lv 60+)
-Heck most of the INT tree skill are usually unless maxed or you only need 1 point on a few to get enough benefit for early to mid game, and if your not focused INT build, you mostly should IGNORE them, other then the 1 point into the two key ones, Daring, physician, and then if you want 1 into any of Grease monkey, Adv Engineering, or Lock picking. You will never need more then this the entire game if your not an INT build character. (charismatic Nature does not stack last checked and a simple Version can be given to groups from a Robot mod, for your flying buddy Robot.)
-Well Insulated is a trap skill unless you need it for very specific builds. (basically just bring extra food/water and your fine even in harsh conditons.)
-The Huntsman is only good if your in a Group game, and really are dedicated to food gathering.
-Healing factor is a Trap skill EARLY Game, make sure you have plenty of ways of making food before you pick it, it will heal you faster by depleting your FOOD BAR faster. useful late game, but a Trap early game.
-Iron gut is great Late game for certain setups, but is mostly a bad skill til Way Late game.
    - Pain tolerance is more for MELEE focus builds, and its a cool skill but really you can avoid it til late game, then you get it for kicks and giggles if you want. If it also increased crit resist, I would recommend it sooner, but it does not sadly, 1 immunity if maxed tho
Sneaky skill note here---- and I know i will get crap for this but over 3k hours of game time and I have tested this.
-PACKMULE- is MOSTLY bad, and majority of Vets will agree with this. HOWEVER in the past 2 points into it meant 2 more mod slots to choose from on armor in the past, which was nice and useful. Anything past 2 pts in the old Alpha version was not efficient. With the new changes to official 1.0 release only 1 point is really worthwhile anything more is not worth it overall. However early game with a Respec to skill in mind, 2-3 points can help you save time, earn more from vendors, and even help you feel more comfortable with your play through. (mostly due to how armor and Quality tiers have changed.) But NEVER have more then 1 point in this late game, just use the pocket mods. 1 point just frees up a pocket mod slot for a while even then remember that armor caps at 90 or 95 % damage reduction, you will never get higher then the cap even if the game says in the stats.

    Strength, Clubs or sledges
    Fortitude, Brawler
Agility, Knives, hidden strike (bonus sneak overall but knives already get extra on top)
Intelligence, Batons, Physician(further buffs Batons and 10% instant kill chance when maxed)
Add the extra melee speed perk for each weapon for faster attacks

    Ok my 2 cents here:
Hidden Strike is not really that usefull. Mainly because it only works on melee weapons and for those u need a stealth build just to get close enough to hit them while they sleep. Most stealth builds will use bow or crossbow cause the bonus stealth damage means u can one-headshot pretty much everything but demos.
Daring Adventurer: If you use the trader for missions like i do, and like to spam those Tier6 infestations, maxing out this skill (yes, quite a big investment) doubles the amount of rewards you get each quest, which can include magazine boxes (100% quicker skill gathering), 5000 fuel, ammo, explosives..... I feel its tremendously usefull if you go that way.

Good list! You did forget to mention the best part of The Daring Adventurer though, the last point put in makes it so you get to choose two rewards every time you turn in a quest! That is huge! You also didn't mention pack mule which is argueably one of the first you should max out. It only takes to level 5. You can carry so many more items before being encumbered. This is something you are dealing with 24/7. Archery is important to stick at least one point into right away along with your weapon of choice (usually spears for me) and the cooking one. The cooking is the most important. You will really struggle in the beginning with getting enough food/water. The ones I take vary depending on gameplay. I'm usually only playing Permadeath games.

Most important perks to start with are Advanced Engineering and Grease Monkey.
Advanced Engineering increases odds of getting Forged Ahead mags. Without it you’ll be in a position where you need steel but can’t craft it. You need 75 Forged Ahead to craft the Crucible, or complete the Cop Slayer challenge (kill 50 cops) and crucible is one of the guaranteed rewards.
Why have points in armor and weapons you can’t craft? All the good stuff requires steel. Armored up mags don’t have much of a bias, this is the first set most players will max out even with no points invested into it, most feel points in armor is a waste.
Grease Monkey is pretty important too so you can the motorcycle (need steel to craft it) so you can move around the map efficiently, outrun zombies that sprint, and have a larger back up inventory when looting a POI.

Greece monkey is better and lock picking also gets you forge ahead books. Advanced engineer adds 3-4 other magazines into the loot pool and it’s pretty annoying to get the repair tools books since those shouldn’t even exist.

As a brand new player to the 7 days franchise, I find the full release to be less fun than early access. My characters get encumbered quickly, find no real game changing loot and struggle to kill zombies. Quite honestly it's a hellish grind so I'm watching 7DtD vids trying to figure out how to start off on the right foot

I don’t understand what you need to be able to make a hammer or other tools. Not weapons but basic tools.

I believe for the hammer, and likely other tools, you'd need to unlock the craft with "Handy Land Magazines".

"I want to have a fast and heavy hiter at the same time"... dont, get one of the fast hiters and leave the heavy one for later. Like, strght build, got club and hammer perks, only hammer mags came and that one is viable only after level 4-5, clubs needed to be level 3 to turn the thides on the mag drop.

i'm insanely late i think, but for me, the fact to get heavy/medium armor is kinda a waste of time because, the most optimised armor isnt a set so you kinda wasting time exept if you play brawler whit a huge heavy armor.
Lucky looter 5 is a must have in my opinion because it only 7 on perception.
I really enjoy the fact that you can boost level 10 intellect for getting better barter because it legit up your xp when you sell by 25% , or maybe it just because of my play style
The Daring Adventurer is a hidden op because level 4 you can chose 2 rewards and it work on challenges reward
Lock Picking for early game to get police car and ATM faster and whitout breaking everything
and after we can have a lot of small perks who can be add and be usefull
