I have a pro tip 😊 Use jute twine to tie the balloon not tying the acutal steam so it will hold air but you can pull on the steam to reinflate. This only works with jute twine not party sting or kite string because of the way the jute grips the latex.
The hairspray goes on the inside, outside it dries out and does nothing. Also almost any generic glue will work better, neoprene based glues can make a helium balloon float for a month easy.

I once spent a year creating a series of giant flying self propelled sharks for the purposes of leaving them in various hard to reach ceilings in the college I went to. How to put the glue? Just deposit a few drops inside the balloon and smush it with your fingers to get an even coating on the inside, then inflate. Get a glue that is as liquid as possible at your target temperature, you can use water or silicone oil(for below freezing target temperatures) to make glues more liquidy. Don't use glues that contain alcohol, they destroy the rubber.

How does this idea work for the weather balloons that flat Earthers use to prove the Earth is flat? Does it help to increase the max altitude from 43 kilometers to more than that? They are still trying to get up to space but it seems to be impossible for some good reasons. :)

you must be a popper, there are many non-poppers, they care about balloons, they don't want to see the balloons burst, they feel hurt when hear the burst sounds

I can assure you that there are other people who use ballons, and the 30+ snooty trophy wives i get to host for my besties baby shower will feel personally victimized if a balloon pops near them, and my friend will be considered unfit if the ballons sag,, lol, any sagging might give them flashbacks of the last time they were at the doctor before their modifications bwahahahah.... No human should have to stress this much about friggen helium...

Gayle Timm you might try Elmer glue. It was shown to float for 3 days.

How to basic It is basically the same, Hair spray is just diluted Elmer’s glue in a can.
