Mr. Graham, I am an alumnus of the Southern Univ. Human Jukebox. I am also an old school musician who believes in musicality. Just a note of congrats sir, on an outstanding job of teaching our HBCU kids proper musicianship. The intonation, balance, attacks and releases, not to mention the phrasing and attention to dynamic contrast. All excellent in your bands performance. Hats off to you sir, and your staff. Keep up the good work.
Wtf this video proves that size doesn't matter. EWC is small as hell and still managed to keep up with a Huge (TSU) that's amazing but this means that TSU has a lot of work to do...
Marcus Graham, your Edward Waters Marching Tigers are small, but they sound GREAT! Jarvis Perry sent me the link of this 5th quarter and he brags on your ability ALL the time. I was in FAMU's Marching 100 from 1987-1989 and Jarvis and I were in Jr. and Sr. high band at Jean Ribault. He went to South Carolina State and and played sousaphone for Sarge up there. I am very pleasantly suprised by your bands balance, intonation and sound. E Dubb is a well kept secret in the world of HBCU bands. I plan on attending a game or two this year. I was at the Livingstone game last year. Keep up the GREAT work.
Cool, I appreciate that.....I can't all the credit I have a great staff that includes my wife and several EWC alums and of course a group of fine musicians!!!!!!
I thought both band did their thing, For a Small band, I love the power and crispness you guys brought to the table, EWC keep up the good work, and my God bless you with more talented musicians. TSU you bought you A game, Love to here you guys play and can't wait until Homecoming. What What.
This does not only prove we are loud or whatever this sounds like a band with pride dedication HARD WORK and most of all have no fear of how big you are but im glad to even experince TSU them boys was piping just know i had fun playing against "the aristocrats" of bands thanks alot keep it up...........that double 007 though ! #EWC
EWC did a great job, but you all seem to missing...something called the Doppler Sound Reflection. Notice carefully that EWC is not in traditional stand formation but rather horizontal under the cantilever of Deck 2. They are strategically spread under the covering which why the "Small boom" be heard so clearly from so far. The sound cycles back to through the walk ways and out across the field in the same manner it does for the announcer. Now this has nothing to do with quality of diversity in music. TSU is really in a battle on this one. It's rare because most schools can't challenge TSU on that regardless of size. TSU is not in any covering, and producing the volume you hear. Now, folks at the game say the power is real! I'll see soon. Great Job both Schools! Nothing negative to say at all.
EWC surprisingly shocked me... I never heard of this school but ah friend of mines Marched there so i had to check em out* Both bands sound Great* but this EWC hmmm... I likes* (you guys are a definition of Size doesn't Matter)
EWC' i also tip my hat to you. I came from a high school that always had a small band. I used to think then that numbers would make you great, butwhen got to college, i found out that wasnt the case. i've seen some giants taken done if not held at bay by the much smaller opponent. Your sound is incredibe, though i did hear it escaping at times. Nothing that more experience throughout the season shouldn't help improve. Bravo Mr. Graham.
The advantage always goes to the smaller band when they hold their own. With that being said EWC did their thing in major way. Both Bands apparently put quality before crank and it is evident in their sound. EWC showed us the same thing TSU showed us a few seasons ago against BCU. When you are confident in what you are and it is reflected in your sound you can not go wrong. EWC got a little exposed in spots mainly due to numbers but I am so impressed by what they have done here. This doesn't mean TSU took an L. Honestly they faced a lose, lose situation. If they had have given EWC pure hell it would have been but they small. If it ends up being an interesting showcase (which it did) then it is like all you guys were suppose to run them over. No way to really come out on top. Good job both bands and EWC this was some great exposure for you. People like me have just become acquainted with you and this is one hell of a first impression. Gotta love an underdog filled with fight. They came to play. From the looks of things it would seem that the weather dampened things a bit.
Good job to both schools, I love the sound both produced in this. EWC You all really held your own and took over on some songs, other songs you didn't seem as confident, but you all really did a great job! TSU Oh boy, you all are still one of my favs. Loved facing off against you all last year and you have improved this year! Great job!
This was a very interesting 5th quarter cause Ewc did a good job for a small band. It tells me you dont need a big band to show ppl how good you can be. Thumbs up Ewc
That first song though. God damn!! Power from a small AND clean band. Now that's the best combination I love the underdogs. They never cease to surprise me. What's the name of that first song? Anyone know?
ok EWC much respect ...... TSU y'all let them boys earn a few stripes off this battle no way should they have been ANY comp . LOL ! But EWC band do sound good dang 32:50 !
Marques Graham WOW!! My director always said "The SIZE has nothing to do with the PRIDE!" That stuck with me from high school 'til now. EWC handled a giant in TnSU, awesome 5th Quarter and great job from both bands!
When I hit play I couldn't see where the sound was coming from......I never herd of this band but believe me, Y'all got a new fan in me, and Y'all proved that size doesn't mean shit if u have real players/musicians on your side. Coming from a JSU fan... #keepitup #blownaway p.s. if Y'all get some size this band could be dangerous! !!
@ Marcus graham are any of ur staff from famu if not u guys should play us and again I have been a fan since I heard swamp couple years back if that number was big omg some schools would really be in trouble great sound never change up love ur hard work with the students
No famu grads, but there is some Famu ties! Being a Floridian I grew up listening to A&M and Cookman......My college band director and mentor the late Mr. Ronald Sarjeant was a Famu grad....my staff are all former students I taught at EWC.
mann now thats the shit ewc never really heard of yaw but damn i like that shit n i love tnst too but again damn ewc yaw got g man foreal but tnst tubas lovin that bass sound good arrangers too on some but all n all good battle
Im A FAMU fan since high school Miami Central Senior High but I curved to ewc and learned a lot to the point I wanna go against my dream college hmmmm sounds like challenge lol
wow... i mean... on the first song of the vid. i was like "where the sound come from?" i looked around the small group i saw there, but ehh there were just the few ppl... AWESOME and ten. state, yeah... very goodk, full sound sousas are one point
I'm here listening for Keddrick Redding's work, now that he's now going to Texas Southern. I wanted a preview of what the NEW Ocean of Soul might sound like. I wouldn't be all too mad!
Edward waters sound great. I remember when i marched for bama state and we played them and tgey shocked us. By the way tnsu better step their game up because saturday bama state is going to give them business
PLUS YOUR OUR BLOOD LOVE BEING COUNTRY!.IF OHIOLOSE TO TENN I BE SAYING THANK YOUR GREAT YOUR FAMILY BUT MICHIGAN I BE MAD GOOOO TENN WE LOVE YOU IN OHIO YOUR THE BEST TENN!
ayeeee ewc the Tripple Threat... Duval county... FLA have the best bands... If EWC was 200 deep would have smashed a lot of swac bands .... The Band director is a product of SCSU so enough said...
My name is Sam, I was a first chair trumpet player for EWC/EWU. All I can say is what you guys heard was not magnified. That is what the Triple Threat sounded like that year. We feared no band and mind you this is the 5th qtr, its was ugly for them during the game 💯 s/o to T6 not a member but issa Trumpet thing
My ears did not match my eyes with EWC. I kept looking for the rest of there band cause the sound and quality of a larger band was heard. TNSU Got there azz whooped. This will be an easy win for the boom in Memphis.
They do have 300. That night was not good it rain hard/flooded. A few band members didnt want to be apart of the rain and left the majorettes did too. They way better than this just sit tight. We play ASU this weekend it will be better footage.
edward waters need to used this in a recruitment tape like foreal
Agreed

Thanks, Phrasing is a big word in our band room.......you'll hear that, articulate, and sustain at least 30x's per rehearsal!
Marques Graham hats off
TSU Handled BCU Both Years. DEMOLISHED FAMU Last Year........But Lowkey Takes An "L" From EWC??
Cant agree with you saying they handled BCU. BCU sounds better than TSU
Yeah gotta agree with you on that
Which Famu....
Yes sir! On this video TSU DEFINATELY took a loss from the smaller EWC! ~Better luck next year~
tay900 The One Down In Tallahassee. School Colors Are Orange And Green. Garden Snake As The Mascot. FAMU
1st Song By EWC..... Just Amazing! Turned A Rap Tune Into Something Beautiful . I Like
LP Field amplified EWC's sound...they did sound good but they were in an area of an NFL stadium designed to amplify crowd noise.. smart director
I like the fact that EWC wasn't trying to be another band. They played their style and I commend them for that. Good job!
Damn did Edward Water have invisible band members because their sound is amazing........and I'm talking studio sound........Wow....
I was at the game and their band could fit under the rain protector so they stood under it and it apologies their sound
Kudos as well for EWC's rendition of "What You Won't Do For Love"...
Wtf this video proves that size doesn't matter. EWC is small as hell and still managed to keep up with a Huge (TSU) that's amazing but this means that TSU has a lot of work to do...
........EWC.......tipping my hat to ya'll...great job to both
Quality sounds on both sides!

Good comment Jesse! Yet another reason I have a newfound respect for #EWC! Love to see mutual respect between HBCU bands! Keep up the good work!
@2Blakk_Jes I went to TSU and I have to say that I was very impressed with the Heart that y'all had. Real nice sound for a small band
Preciate it ✊
I like that "I Like It!" Good job EWC!!!
EWC is quickly becoming one of my top favs, nobody replaces the "100" to me but these guys....
Small band with a big balanced sound....i'm impressed EWC!
EWC did a great job, but you all seem to missing...something called the Doppler Sound Reflection. So What !!! We Did Not click on the video to to be lectured ...
and yet you read the comment lol. Next time you'll notice some other school using the same technique. Enjoy
Pat White lmfao
EWC surprisingly shocked me... I never heard of this school but ah friend of mines Marched there so i had to check em out* Both bands sound Great* but this EWC hmmm... I likes* (you guys are a definition of Size doesn't Matter)

Ewc sounds so good!!
The endurance of EWC is what really shines.
EWC still doing there thing!! clean as hell!!
Good job to both schools, I love the sound both produced in this. EWC You all really held your own and took over on some songs, other songs you didn't seem as confident, but you all really did a great job! TSU Oh boy, you all are still one of my favs. Loved facing off against you all last year and you have improved this year! Great job!
Thanks sir and you are absolutely correct.....we appreciate honest insight we will surely be more polished as the season progresses.
I'm getting my old-school music fix on just listening to TSU and EWC.... TSU's got a nice version of Keith Sweat's "I Want Her"....
Ok EWC great representation of Florida!
This was a very interesting 5th quarter cause Ewc did a good job for a small band. It tells me you dont need a big band to show ppl how good you can be. Thumbs up Ewc
EWC sounds great
This is true testament that size doesn't matter. You can out play anybody when you are balance and clean.
OK EWC!!!!!!! SOUNDING REAL GOOD!!!
That's right ED, don't back down to the bigger schools!!! Loved the heart and I was impressed with what ya'll did with the smaller numbers.
Keep in mind that it was pouring down hard the entire 5th. the rain didn't stop until they got on the bus literally
EWC is producing the same amount of sound, if not more.
TnSU Sounds Great. Tubas still the best in the game I see.
That first song though. God damn!! Power from a small AND clean band. Now that's the best combination I love the underdogs. They never cease to surprise me. What's the name of that first song? Anyone know?

And thanks for the video I know the rain did not stop all game.
Your very welcome. We really wanted to get more footage, but we did not want to get our equipment messed up.
EWC shocked me they are putting in some sound this is proof to the rest of the small bands numbers don't mean much
Classic sarj sound with ur arrangements.
Great 5th quarter!!!
When I hit play I couldn't see where the sound was coming from......I never herd of this band but believe me, Y'all got a new fan in me, and Y'all proved that size doesn't mean shit if u have real players/musicians on your side. What song is EWC playing at 29:15? It has a nice grove.
Johnny Gills- Fairweather Friend
I maybe late on this one and I think that for a small band, EW has a pretty good sound. But they did not "smash" TSU.

I'm here listening for Keddrick Redding's work, now that he's now going to Texas Southern. I wanted a preview of what the NEW Ocean of Soul might sound like. I wouldn't be all too mad!
The band that year(2014) was under Marques Graham. This playlist will take you to reddings band: ruclips.net/p/PLMf7awyhj96uB5SwMnfGclQNU4poZA4L_

Wiz Khalifa - spotlight
@5:10 vs @36:35 man EWC sounding good.
Am I the only one that thought the camera man was taping empty seats before I realized that was a band in the corner?
Duval county holding it down
for a band with no tennar drums EDUB sounds like a larger band like they are marching at 100 cudos to EDUB
Yea Edward Water got this one!
ayeeee ewc the Tripple Threat... Duval county... FLA have the best bands... If EWC was 200 deep would have smashed a lot of swac bands .... The Band director is a product of SCSU so enough said...

EWC... wow... that's all I can say
58 marching for E-DUB

My name is Sam, I was a first chair trumpet player for EWC/EWU. All I can say is what you guys heard was not magnified. That is what the Triple Threat sounded like that year. We feared no band and mind you this is the 5th qtr, its was ugly for them during the game 💯 s/o to T6 not a member but issa Trumpet thing

Lil Boosie - Show The World
EWC song selection was low key killing TN State...EWC for their size sounded great and projected a nice sound...
My ears did not match my eyes with EWC. I kept looking for the rest of there band cause the sound and quality of a larger band was heard. TNSU Got there azz whooped. This will be an easy win for the boom in Memphis.
Amusing......

TSU GOT BLOWWNNN OUT!!!!
Wow now that was a pleasant surprise. EW ain't no joke.
Same songs year end and year out...
Ditto. I don't think there is any point for me to head up there to see same shit.
e they sound. Even Edward Waters sounds almost if not as good tsu did. That last song by tsu was horrible. Holy shit
Lol at tsu handling bcu. In arrangements and versatility, yes. But sound? Please. Ewc sounds almost if not as good as tsu. Tsu tubas
Nice TSU and EWC but clearly TSU got it
Leave spotlight to A&M!
Ok E Dubb....
Edward Waters owned Tenn State
All lies I thought they said tnsu was 300 plus now they not even 192. They still small. That was all lies
Lol.
EXACTLY !
They march 224 on the field with plenty left over in the stand I was there they just sit tight
They do have 300. That night was not good it rain hard/flooded. A few band members didnt want to be apart of the rain and left the majorettes did too. They way better than this just sit tight. We play ASU this weekend it will be better footage.
Dominic Haynie TSU is marching at 285. This is the largest band in the schools history. We did an interview with Dr. Reginald McDonald.
