What Isn't To Love About This Movie? (SCREAM 1996)

- Up next for Halloween month we are going back to the 90's and the movie that brought the slasher genre back!
We do not own the rights to this movie....this is simply a reactionary video Кино
Yes, Scream is a satire on horror, but it was inspired partially on a true story of Danny Rolling aka the Gainesville Ripper.
Kevin Williamson was watching coverage of Danny Rolling and got unsettled being alone in his house. And he loves horror movies, he had Halloween playing as background noise while he was writing the opening scene
9:42 And Halloween's Sam Loomis was named after Marion Crane's boyfriend in Psycho.
Fun Facts:
- So when Tatum said to Dewey that the janitor is your superior, it's true cause as you guys pointed out the janitor at the school that was dressed as Freddy Krueger was Wes Craven, who directed Scream-Scream 4. He also directed the original Nightmare on Elm Street.
- So before Scream came out in 96, the caller ID was not popular at all. The caller I.D. sales in the U.S. tripled after Scream was released, lol.
- Billy AND Stu were at Casey's and used their girlfriends as Alibis for being out. Stu was on the patio with Steve while Billy was in the front, tormenting her on the phone. The question about "Which door am I at" was a trick question. Stu ran to the front door to let Billy in. You could hear the front door open before she went outside through the kitchen. Also, when her parents got home, the front door was open. When her mom was hearing Casey breathing on the other end of the phone line, you can hear one talking to another saying "tree," and the phone ends. Also, when Steve was tied up, he was looking at both directions of the house. That's how Billy was able to stab her on the ground multiple times, dragged by both, hung her up, gutted her, and put her liver in the mailbox so quickly and left without being seen.
- Wes Craven lol to get his actors into character emotionally like Drew Barrymore (Casey) and Neve Campbell (Sidney) right before he start to film he would run up to them and tell them something terrifying. With Drew Wes Craven would tell her real-life stories of animal cruelty to bring out her emotions and then run off and yell action, lol.
- Roger L. Jackson is the voice of Ghostface for ALL of Scream movies. For every film, the actors were never allowed to meet him before or see him during filming, so that way, when they were on the phone with him, it would give them that real fear effect. Wes Craven always kept him hidden from the others to where they couldn't see him, but he was still able to see them. He also improved a lot of his lines as well.
- Neve Campbell (Sidney) was originally going to say no to the film as she is especially afraid of horror movies. But when hearing her co-star Skeet Ulrich (Billy) from "The Craft" (1996) was going to appear, she agreed. They did both movies back to back that same year.
- They casted Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis and gave him the hair style cause of how close he looked like to young Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street, who also climbed in through a bedroom window. Yes, you are correct his last name, Loomis, is a reference to Dr. Loomis in Halloween.
- Also, after he climbed through her window, the first time, "Fear the Reaper," was playing. He climbed through her window to distract her and turned on her stereo to cover up the background noise of Stu kidnapping her dad. If notice he was wearing the same outfit at the end.
- The news lady that was harassing Sidney "how does it feel to almost being butchered" at the school is Linda Blair from the Exorcist.
- If you look really closely when Billy was "stabbed" in the bedroom, you can see Stu adding the fake blood onto the knife before wiping it off.
-Casey's comment about Nightmare on Elm Street about how the first was good, but the rest sucked. It's because Wes Craven only did the first one and didn't direct all the other ones, lol.
-Kenny actually saved Sidney in his literal final moment AFTER his throat got slashed. He pointed to the back and told her "door" so she could crawl out.
- Ghostface in the bathroom was a prank on Sidney it wasn't either Billy or Stu.
- Rose McGowan(Tatum) was actually able to fit through the cat door. They had to staple her shirt to the door cause she kept falling out. Also, just before her head got smashed in, she herself added, calling out "mom," and Wes loved it and kept it in cause it gave her last moments of humanity. Rose also picked out her own outfits for her character. The jersey she wore with #10 was also a reference to Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street.
- When Billy hit Stu in the head with the phone, it was an accident on Skeets part. The fake blood was so sticky and ended up hitting Matthew Lillard instead of the desk, and his "Oww You hit me with the phone D***" he stayed in character and was his real reaction to it. Wes loved it as well, so he kept it, lol. Matthew also improved most of his kitchen scene with his lines, like with "Houston, we have a problem," "the peer pressure, I'm far to sensitive," and the comment about his parents going to be so mad, lol.
- That WHOLE kitchen scene took about 2 weeks to film because of the amount of high energy that was used as well with all of the fake blood (corn syrup dyed red).
- Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard actually started dating while filming Scream and were together for a little while. So that whole "I've always had a thing for you, Sid" was true, lol. He originally auditioned for Billy, but the casting didn't believe that someone like Sidney/Neve would date someone like him, lol. So he ended up getting Stu, and Skeet got Billy cause of his look alike to Johnny Depp. The funny thing is that even though the casting thought that about Matthew, they ended up dating real life anyway 😂 even though they didn't last that long as a couple they are still close friends. The OG cast are still pretty tight to this day (especially Skeet, Matthew, Neve and Jamie *Randy*), and they do A LOT of different conventions over the years together and still do.
- When Billy got stabbed with the umbrella the 2nd time, it actually hit Skeet, where he had heart surgery when he was younger, so that scream he let out was his real action to the pain.
- Drew Barrymore was supposed to play Sidney. But she ended up changing her mind, and she herself went to Wes with an idea to have her as the open kill cause no one would expect it because of how popular she was in the 90s. Also, it would show if they could kill off a huge star right off the bat, it would mean NO ONE was safe. It was the BIGGEST surprise shock effect for the audience cause they assumed she would be the leading character and they played into it with the publicity and posters.
-Even though Billy was at Sidneys for the attack, it was Stu who she fought with. That first attack was to mess with Sidney and also to set up Billy so that way he wouldn't be a suspect later on. They were the ones who called the police that's how they got there so quickly. When Stu was tripping up the stairs to chase Sidney, you could hear ghostface saying "easy" "easy." The next day at the lockers, he was checking his face in Tatums mirror for any bruises, and when Tatum was hitting him with her sucker he says "easy" "easy.
-Billy was always 1 handed with his killing if he had a knife if didn't he resorts to choking except for Tatum he used the opportunity with the garage door. He gave a signal look to Stu at the front door that Tatum was dead. Stu uses both hands when using the knife and resorts to other tactics if he doesn't have a knife like the both times he fought Sidney (at her house and in his livingroom).
-Stu was the one that called Dewey about the abandoned car to get him away from the house for a little bit and also called Randy about the principal after the whole "I'll be right back." Billy killed the principal so they could use him as a deploy for later that night to get the rest of the guests to leave the house so the real party could begin.
- Dewey was originally supposed to die in this one, but Wes Craven and everyone just loved David Arquette when they did a screen view test and how he played his character. They all fell in love with him, so Wes went back, and they reshot the ending where he had Dewey do the thumbs up to show the audience that he survived.
Without scream slasher horror movies would be mostly 80s nostalgia and nothing more. Just look at where horror movies where then: Chucky hadn't been seen in 5 years. "Nightmare on elm street" and "Friday the 13th" returned in the 90s only to "kill" them off. Myers had one try in 1995 to a cool response. Even Freddy's return in "wes Cravens new nightmare" didn't work. So that's where those movies where at 1996. I loved that they spoofed the movies because that's how the general public saw them. I remember renting horror films then in faded VHS boxes plastered with sale stickers and new rental prices, often one on top of the other. It was symbolic as new movies full of action and CGI filled the areas these movies once did.
i would give anything for you guys to react to the strangers (2008)!!! my favorite horror movie and it’s such a rollercoaster 😭
I'm definitely working my way up to doing that one because I heard it's creepy. We have been getting a lot of requests for it so we will try to do it soon! ❤️
This Movie is credited as reviving the slasher type movies. By 1996 Jason and Freddy where on vacation and Micheal Myers wasn't doing so hot either (he had only 2 movies in the 90s). Chucky had been gone about 5 years too. Even Leather face wasn't around much and feeling very outdated. They needed a new killer and got that with ghostface. What's genius about him is the killer is different in every movie, which always adds suspense and mystery. Where the classic killers where well known ghostface is never the same person.
I think Elizabeth was onto something when she mentioned her theory that the opening scene of Scream was inspired by the opening scene of Friday the 13th part 2. Relatable well known character pranked on the phone, stalked and then killed before the opening credits
The window thing was always a temptation because of Romeo and Julliet or Rapunzel, but parents with guns always made you realize crawling through the window is great in books but deadly in real life.
It was also in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Lol they even made Skeet look like a young Johnny Depp
@@fynnthefox9078 you're right. I forgot about that. That was actually funny when he begged Nancy to let him in and made a comment about stepping on Rose's with bare feet or something.
Man Shaggy hit hard times once Scooby left him...
Omg this comment made me laugh🤣🤣🤣
Solving all those mysteries of people in monster costumes finally got to him. A shame they didn't include the deleted scene of Stu leaving the blood splattered Mystery Machine.
I'm so excited to see all your other reactions to the scream franchise!
Yes, Drew is wearing a wig.
I need you guys to watch all the sequels, this franchise is probably the most consistent franchise I’ve watched. None of the movies are bad in my opinion, just lesser than ithers
I totally agree. Some entries are not quite as good as the others, but there isn't a *bad* movie in the bunch.
No kidding. Even "Scream 3" I still like.
@@stefanpoirier6810 yeah i personally like roman as the killer hes my favorite one.
@@KoaIaBearr Me too. it's great that Wes at least attempted a 1 killer that...one time. lol
I like them the order they came out if there was ever a ranking.
21:41 I think Stu saw Gale and Kenny's van so went outside to kill Kenny leaving Randy alone.
You guys are hilarious the first horror movie reaction video I watched is the Friday The 13th 1980 reaction. I literally almost peed my pants at the way you reacted when Ned shot the bow and arrow to scare Brenda and you said what an asshole 😂 I died. Keep up the amazing work and never stop making reaction videos there’s millions and millions of horror movies out there so that should keep you guys busy 😂 I also love how you just causally sip wine as you watch.
Yay! I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos! We definitely got plenty more coming ❤️
Thank you for watching and I love that you’re enjoying our antics 🤣🤣
3:18 Apparently Scream convinced many people to get caller ID.
Matt Lillard is the best character
I've been a fan of the series since I was in high school the first scream came out when I was I thinking 10th grade and a couple of my friends were talking about it but I didn't see it until like right before the second one came out when I was a senior then 3456 I basically saw when they came out if not in theaters at least on DVD

Yes that type of jiffy pop still exsists lol.
Scream is not and was not satire. It was always meant to be a horror movie. When it was sent to the MPAA for review, as a horror movie, multiple times it was given an NC-17 rating. In an attempt to get an R rating they sent in the final cut saying that it was a satire of the horror genre and with that the MPAA gave them the R rating that they wanted.
It's a horror satire, but played straight.
FINALLY watch all!
That is just too much Horror Business, Driving late at night, Psycho '78... my mirrors are black
Now you girls have to watch all the movies
Matthew Lillard also played shaggy in the Scooby-Doo part 1 and 2 live action movies and another horror movie called the 13th ghost
Yes! I absolutely love him as Shaggy! No one could do it more perfectly than Matthew Lillard ❤️
I LOVE Thirteen Ghost! I bet that one would scare Tasha!😂
Randy is my favorite
The correct answer was ms. Vorhees
I Have All The Scream Movie's, Classics
The way you guys kept calling 'Randy' 'Jamie' was hilarious! He's my favorite character and I always do that. 😂
I Give This Movie 👍👍👍👍👍
I f****** love this series yeah it's satire on the entire horror genre but it is hard it's not like the movie scary movie which is a flat-out parody and from the very first scream movie all of the screams involves something from the past and involving certain families I actually have a book where I write out who's in what family because there's so many families once you get to the more recent movies
You're not going to lie I figure as soon as the macher family got home from wherever the hell they were they just immediately sold that house

Satire it is but feels more like a real life account than most movies. Kind of ironic.
Yet thats why the original Scary Movie was made as a parody. Scary Movie was the original script title for Scream.
Edit: There is a rare extended version with more gore. Steves guts actually fall out. The quick pan on Casey hanging in the tree is also slower.
This movie scream was based on an actual masked serial killer Danny Rolling
The janitor fred was Wes craven
Scream 6 is now streaming are you guys planning on reacting to the rest of the franchise?
2:44 it is a wig.
You guys gotta watch the sequels they so good.
Like your cool t shirts ladies
Will you do all parts?
YES DEFINITELY!!!!! ❤️
That opening scene with Drew Barrymore is so iconic. And when it first came out, a lot of people were expecting her to be the main character. She was on all the posters and at the time, was the biggest star in the movie. She lasted about 10 minutes and her character died in a very brutal way. Not many really saw that coming. Great setup for the whole series.
Meta-scare, straight outta Psycho.
@@christopherb501 Exactly. Even Wes Craven said the idea was people thinking "It's Drew Barrymore! She can't die!" Wrong. She's only in the movie for a few minutes and it shocked pretty much everyone.
I even dig that, whether or not intentional, the fact they got a true sort of Scream Queen to be right at the beginning as she was in both the original "Fire Starter" and "Cat's Eye".
@@stefanpoirier6810 ah man Cats Eye! I haven’t thought about that movie in a hot second!😁 Now I need to re-watch it!😂
@@elizabethnelson673 It's a solid movie
Wes Craven knocked it out of the park with this series and it's great it pokes fun at even his own movies.
Wes never wrote that bit about Elm Street
As for that stuff the girls with you were saying about living together with your siblings and whatever my only sibling is a half-sister on my mom's side who technically has a half-brother on her dad's side so technically I have a step brother but I only really met him when he was a kid I don't think I've seen him since my sister was born and my sister is 32 now and has two kids I grew up living with my dad so I never lived with my half-sister until we were adults and I lived with her for a while after moving out of my dad's
The sequels are great as well. Hope you guys watch them soon
Yes! We definitely will! I'm excited to watch the rest of them ❤️
Scream 2 is my favourite of all the Screams
Elizabeth is soo fine... 😎
Love the sister n all but, what happened to the niece n all???, she just gone now. Did yours watch Texas Chain Saw Massacre and decide to try it out lol
If you love Matthew Lillard there's a movie I have on DVD that a lot of people haven't heard of I've never heard of anyone reacting to it on RUclips it's called senseless who plays the main character's best friend it's based in college his best friend is played by one of the Wayans brothers he's got a rival who's played by David Spade and basically he needs money for his school and to help his mom raise his little siblings so he's got a bunch of jobs he's trying to sell blood hair semen whatever and he finds out about this drug trial and he takes part in that

The intro in the Scream movies is the best in horror movie history plus some of the clumsiest killers they always get they ass kick before finally killing thier victims lol great reaction 👍🏿
Haha that's so true I did really like how clumsy they made them especially since they were high schoolers. Hell I would be clumsy at this age trying to pull something off like that 🤣
Obviously not that I want to or anything haha
@@tashatipton2141 great point the plan was great just executed poorly I rather deal with Billy and Stu than Michael Myers

As a guy i can confirm i have never climbed through my girlfriend's window (or anyone else's lol), instead i tend to use a thing called a front door, a great invention, maybe someone should have told Billy Loomis it exists.
OoC, you ever watch Clarissa Explains It All?
Also by the way why in Fox ducks would Casey's dad sent his wife out there to go to their neighbors the McKenzie's who are I don't know how far away they're definitely not within I shot when they've got such a large house you think one of those f****** would have a cell phone right
"God, that was harsh!"
One of the reasons Courtney Cox signed on to this role; wanted to stretch herself as more of a jackass character than what she was best known for.
Either that or she needed to blow off some steam two years after "Ace Ventura"
no jk
1st comment lol. I've been waiting for you 3 to react to this. I clicked on this vid so fast lol.
What happened to the younger blonde girl??? I loved her reactions
Love the reaction you guys, but maybe try not to give away the spoilers like one third through the movie for those who haven't seen it
By the way that whole you hit me with the phone dick thing was not in the script apparently because his hands were slippery from the fake blood the actor accidentally hit the other actor with the phone
"KENNY. Fucking Kenny." I literally flinched. xD Great video, y'all!
Elizabeth,
As someone who WAS stabbed in the back by the sharp corner of an armored truck door and then had to continue working for 8 more hours and then another 45 minutes to drive home before being able to treat my back, a knife wound can put you down for a while especially if the entire blade penetrates. That blade size could enter his lung. My stabbing was not as severe as Dewey's but I felt that shit ALL fucking day long. NOT FUN.
Yeah I don't think she really thought that through when she said that. Kate said it before I could but I was thinking dude he got stabbed in the back. I didn't realize people jumped right up after that 🤣
I'm sorry that happened to you though I honestly couldn't imagine what that would feel like and hope I never do!
@@tashatipton2141 Thanks. Yeah I sure as shit do not tickle and then having to live with the pain for almost 9 hours while doing physical lifting for work while feeling mild blood streams slowly dripping down your back. I was not happy that day.
Ah man, that sounds awful!! I’m so sorry that happened! Yeah, I know…I expect a lot out of movie characters 😂 I’m always like; “it’s just a flesh wound, get up!!” But really, getting stab had to be beyond painful!
@@elizabethnelson673 Yeah. it doesn't tickle, that's for sure. "It's only a compound fracture. Walk it off!"
Now where is my Ouija Board video. You are letting me down Elizabeth. You are suppose to tie Tasha down and get her to participate.
@@thereturningshadow well I’ve been a *little* busy with a surprise wedding (not mine) and then throwing parties for said wedding. Maybe I can get some rope and tie her down this weekend…🤔🤣
Thank you about the weight of the TVs back then being enough to kill you without the electrocution does a bunch of these fetuses who are fans of the series now they still think there's a chance that stu is alive
PT 2 is the BEST❕
PT 3 is a COMEDY❕
PT 4 is ANNOYING ❕
PT 5 is GORY❕
I agree with PT 2 being the best but IMO:
PT 3 is GOOD
PT4 is RETRO FUN
PT 5 is JUST WHAT NEEDED! It even earned itself to be called "Scream" again.
Honestly why were movies like "Halloween" released in 2018 NOT called something else. Same goes for last year's "Candyman"
AND NO I DONT WANT THERE TO BE A "The Exorcist" to which it's the title of a brand new possible "Exorcist 2"
Also they have no hearing except what is on camera. As any helicopter approaching in the distance.
Deffo watch the sequels. Unlike every other horror franchise all the films are great quality x
IMO I feel like Freddy and Jason's franchises while not perfect were quite a great ride to the epic "Freddy Vs. Jason"
So far, I even feel the Chucky movies have been nothing but good and thoroughly entertaining. But yeah, aside from maybe part 3, the Scream franchise has been pretty darn consistent.
Yall should watch untill scream 5
Yeah scream 5 sucks
@@mynameisnotearl4383 what?? I said that i wanted them to watch all screams but from the bottem
You guys should watch the funhouse (1981) Directed by the Late Tobey Hooper
Loving the Misfits shirts one of the best bands of all time
Great reaction to my 6th favourite movie, which is only beaten by respectively:
5 Beverly Hills Cop 1984
4 A Fish Called Wanda 1988
3 Damien: Omen 2 1978
2 Die Hard 1988
1 Halloween 1978
That darn movie seemed to be interrupting your conversation. I hate it when that happens.
100% i turned them off when they talked through the first 2 minutes of the movie...they had zero idea what the phone call was about. Chick on the right kept babbling about her stupid hair cut from 1976 she had.
This is a mistake that most "reactors" do. They forget that they are supposed to be reacting to what's happening. And think we want to hear stories and shit and talk through the whole movie.
@@BabyNoah22 They watched the movie prior to the reaction. So they knew the plot
Finally!! Too bad the blonde girl isn't here anymore, she had good reactions 😞
Tasha,
Did you NOT hear Sydney outside at did you NOT see Stu noticed and run after her and not kill Randy?
Please watch all the scream movies!!!
What’s the point of watching a movie everyone has seen?
And when’s the girl from last Halloween coming back?
Because... THEY haven't seen it.......?
I think it made sense given that you truly can have a new experience as we get older. An obvious example would be to now watch something that you haven't seen since your childhood or so.
@@ChameleonKhNerd they clearly have if you listen
Ladies,
Maybe if you left your windows unlocked, at least, then someone might try to get in. You should have made it even easier by leaving your windows open. Didn't you learn anything from the movies? SHEESH
This is the only good one. Third is second best.
