This is a rare movie where I think the remake and the original both stand on their own merits as unique and worthwhile takes on the same basic story. Another is The Shining. Stephen King's remake of this (which was produced as a miniseries back in the 80s or 90s, I think), is super creepy; different than Kubrick's but just as worth watching. Hint hint. I don't think I've seen any reactors do Stephen King's The Shining. Anyway, great reaction. All the best.

      EXACTLY!
I love this version of Mike every bit as much as I do the original version. The 09 film gets a little nutty, but aside from the finale is a pretty good flick, but this one deserves to stand amongst the horror greats as truly showing the birth of a monster. People love to call this as unrealistic as the OG until they realize people like Andre the Giant never "worked out" a day in their life. Not many, but some individuals are blessed with natural strength like that, it isn't unreasonable to consider the fact that a six-and-a-half foot corn fed boy from the mid-west would have that kind of natural strength, especially when added to the fact that he's destined to become a sort of supernatural killing entity like in the OG films

What I didn't like about this version is, one the gore was way too much. Two by putting him in that dysfunctional family you can kind of see why he became a serial killer, whereas in the original movie, Michael was from a normal middle class family and no one was ever able to understand why this 6 year old would kill his sister. This version is just a kid in a messed up environment.
I also didn't like the way they portrayed Loomis in this one. It's probably an accurate portrayal of a modern psychologist, but Loomis was supposed to be the good to Michael's evil.

    • @tashatipton2141
      @tashatipton2141  Год назад +7

Yeah like I said in the video the original child Michael just doing it for no reason was way better than trying to give him this tragic backstory. The backstory was just so over the top (even though i know there are families like that out there but not needed for a Halloween movie) but the mystery behind it makes it scarier like he was just born to be evil.

If y’all have not seen A Clockwork Orange you must, it is considered Malcolm McDowell’s career defining role. And when it comes to Rob Zombie, you’ve got to love the trilogy of House Of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, & 3 From Hell, but I’d also recommend the Lords Of Salem.

I may be alone but I like this version. I love how the whole family is seen as dysfunctional. It further explains Micheals descent into madness. Him killing animals while cringe is also a real confession by many serial killers, Ted Bundy being one. The dad-thing- knows but doesn't care one bit. The sister is just not all there either. Mom is the only semi normal one but it is to much for her. And honestly I don't expect a kid who will kill his sister to play tag as a kid. In the beginning He has an almost childlike innocence but there are a few layers missing. There is Something creepy (even without knowledge about the animals) about him. It's little things like mom hugging him and him trying to accept it but he just can't fully. He's almost trying to be a normal kid at first but like fate is stopping him. While I don't understand how he morphed from child to Arnold Schwarzenegger x3 while in prison I also like that rendition of him. The original was very skinny for the most part. He looks intimidating and scary. As he should be. Intense yes. But I feel they gave it a good try. The 2nd one was not good for me but I stand by this one

I agree. If he would have kept that unknown side to Michael of why did he snap and kill those people, it would have been so much better and even scarier. When they show him in a dysfunctional family and he's already showing signs of being a serial killer with killing dogs, cats and other small animals, it takes part of the scariness away because now he's just a messed up serial killer. In the original you never know why until the end of the Thorn trilogy.

Yayyyyy Halloween. Yayyyyy rob zombies Halloween! Lol yay love all these lol. Yayyyyy anything with Michael Myers is awesome lol. Yayyyyy love these movies and these reactions lol. Love this one delving into his backstory. They explained a bit but there's some mystery there like when did he start killing animals how he's being bullied. There's still mystique there like how he works how he gets so big probably the evil. Seems like in this whole franchise the evil grows in him making him bigger and stronger and unkillable lol. The more he kills the more damage he can take lol. Be better if he talked less in this or the bullies try to bully him and they get no reaction from him like in hospital in original one but I do like how he's more like regular people most people will talk or say something back or try to defend themselves when being bullied. They do a good mixture. Also you could wonder how much of this is a mask. Like he does all this stuff that's the real him but when he's taking to his mom or Loomis he's putting on s mask. I'm innocent feel sorry for me. That's what he wants from us and everyone feel sorry for me help me let me out lol. Michael like a bunch of people especially that guy in falling down or taxi driver he's had enough and won't take it anymore lol. Course now he's in prison or hospital lol or on the run or living in the woods or sewers or wherever lol. Even if they deserve it they as holes lol its not worth it. So many crimes happen in real life cause people can't just let stuff go lol. That's same in horror movies but that's why we watch these we cheer on the bad guys yeah take out that little brat kill that ashole but at certain point or by end were cheering for the protagonist to put the antagonist down lol. Come on Laurie or Loomis shoot him lol. Finish him lol. But there's no finishing Michael. You can kill Michael he is a man but the evil the shape in him is unstoppable. Either it'll keep healing him or bringing him back or it'll go into someone else. Infect someone else lol. You can never kill evil lol.

If you are outside at night and someone is watching you but standing real still, they will blend into the background and you won't notice him. Plus Micheal was on a balcony and generally most people, unless they notice something don't look up regularly to notice their surroundings.

I agree and do understand those things, but from a “this is science” point of view lol. But from my point of view I don’t understand! I’m the exception to the rule, I know. Not only do I have ADHD, which makes me hyper aware of EVERYTHING because that’s how my brain is hardwired, but k have been “trained” to be hyper aware as well. From my father (I grew up just outside of DC in Alexandria VA), my super paranoid husband (love ya babe) and from being close friends with military families. One of my closest and dearest friends has taught SERE school several times and our dinner parties have been known to finish with a rowdy game of “how to escape hand restraints”!! (Which I rock at btw 🤣). I know I give the characters no mercy about not being aware of their surroundings but I really have a hard time understanding how they miss this crap 😂😂

@@elizabethnelson673 I too am trained in being aware of my surroundings with years not only in security but also in the armored car industry as well being a protection officer here in Florida. I too am hyper aware. I have even had friends say it's a little scary with how I notice many little details.
Alexandria? No Shit. I grew up on the opposite side of DC in Bowie, MD. I think you'll agree that visiting DC also makes one hyper aware or it should at least. lol
"How to escape hand restraints" can be a fun game in more ways than one. haha
As for characters in movies and tv, yeah in some cases I am the same way as not only is our eyes 180 degrees right to left but also about 150 degrees up and down and sometimes I truly wonder how they don't see something just off camera which would be 6 feet away from them. Or at least hear something because at night when our eye sight diminishes our hearing compensates. It's the same with motor vehicles. How many times have you watched a movie or tv show and you don't hear a helicopter until it is suddenly on screen? Gimme a break.

Actually if the knife was long enough and he stabbed underneath the rib cage, it could hold the body up. A chefs knife isn’t slicing through bone that easily. Not when doctors have to use saws and a tools to pry the rib cage open. The only part of this movie I like is the very last half when adult Michael shows back up to Haddonfield. The back story was just stupid and the white trash theme was a cliche.

I like how Zombie explored the weird complex Michael had with Judith and Laurie. Was he sexually attracted to them? Was he being protective? I appreciate how open-ended it was and the original barely scratched the surface of that.
I also like the symbolism with the masks and how Michael’s self-loathing led him to hide his face.
But Jesus, Rob needs to hire someone to write his dialogue. He seems to think that obscenity can make his characters likable and relatable. Call me deluded, but I’m pretty sure suburban teenage girls don’t act and talk like crack whores.

I do appreciate that Rob Zombie tried to do something different and not just do a carbon copy of the original but I really hated him trying to make us feel bad for Michael by giving him a horrible backstory instead of him just being evil for no reason which is how Michael should be in my opinion

I'm on the fence with this one. I do like it and I'll watch it occasionally but I personally think the whole backstory with Michael's childhood was a mistake. It kinda turned him into a cliche. "Oh he turned evil because his home life sucked." Took away the mystery and some of the other sequels are guilty of this too. That's why I liked this newer timeline because Michael went back to being an evil, cruel person. Like he was in the original. He killed his older sister just because. He was obsessed with Laurie just because. The randomness made it creepier. This is just my personal opinion though.

    • @tashatipton2141

Yeah I agree. I like that Rob Zombie tried to do something original and not just make a carbon copy. Michael as an adult is scary as hell and I like how fast paced his movements are compared to the original but yeah I really hate that he tried to make you feel sorry for Michael with the horrible home life. The original with him being evil for no reason is so much better. When they had that normal ass kid holding the knife it was like damn!
