While all the performances were great, for me, Peter is the standout!

20:13 when she’s having that dream she tells him “I love you.. I was trying to save you” my interpretation is that DEEP down, Annie knew that her kids had a terrible fate in store for them. So her attempt at miscarriage, and her paint thinner incident was her subconscious trying to prevent the inevitable doom her kids were going to suffer.

@@elizabethnelson673 honestly the imagery in that scene is incredibly well done. Notice the ants are on Peter’s face the same way they were on Charlie’s after the accident. I feel like the ants are a visible representation of the demon Paimon. So the ants on Peter’s face was foreshadowing which basically meant that Peter was the next desired host of Paimon.

Ya know I was thinkin, as far as this movie goes , it’s the worst tragedy ever that Annie DIDNT drop that match and kill herself and 2 children. I’d think sleep walking she wouldn’t be held responsible by God and would have avoiddd all of the help of this movie but worst of all, because she woke up and blew the match out, in movie land we saw that the grandmas promise and offering to the pagan god king Paemon that is actually a demon so this cult leader witch asks Paemon the king of riches and knowledge to give her her remaining life of riches and knowledge and bind alls will to hers and in trade for that, the promised this demon herself her daughter and granddaughters souls for eternity in hell at this demons aids where they will spend eternity as Paimon as 3 female heads and souls forget thst it Carrie’s my their hair wherever it goes and then gives her grandsons body to the demon to possess. what an unbelievably horrific ending in movie land where Annie gets possessed by Paimon and cuts her head off, the cult cuts the mother off and Paimon possesssing Charlie get her head taken off, those are the 3 souls and heads that this demon will carry for eternity by ther hair and peters body is now possessed by the 8th king of hell., so technically , the antichrist is on earth and has a body and a cult Tia tart growing and Annie’ and Charlie’s good souls got bargained to become a demons posssion for eternity in hell , they had no choice , agency and spend misery in hell forever. Seeing Annie’s body floating cutting her head off and then floating up to the treehouse and bowing tot he Paimon stick figure that has Charlie’s head which is very very symbolic poor Charlie and Annie .
I think the miscarriage efforts and wishes was both trauma related and out of a love for a son she hasn’t seen trying desperately consciously and subconsciously to miscarry becasue she spent her first 22 years of life in the most tragic family situation where her dad starved himself to death and had mental issues, and then 22 years of seeing her mom destroy her son becaue the offer she made with king Paimon was her sons healthy body and according to pagan belief for a king of hell to take possession of a body it must be male , the males soul hd to be completely destroyed , broken, torn down, strip all faith hope and love away fill his life with tragedy and hardship and eventually his soul will be literally on the verge of death allowing the demon to take possession so even if Annie didn’t know her mom was in a pagan cult or about any of this till the end of movie , she still saw 22 years of her brother being destroyed and his mental struggles , Al thst like her seemed to be stemmed from the grandma hereditarily. The beother probably saw stuff like we did in the move and fully believed it and took his own life to end the suck or maybe to not be possessed by a demon king. . Annie said her relationship with her mom never existed and was never good but actually horrible, she said she was never ever close to good enough for her mom always a failure which was her mom breaking her down over life then once her brother kills himself she marries and grandma must have a son pressuring her to have one clearly for her so Annie actually tries to not get pregnant But as we learned, when the grammas son killer himself , thst male body promised to king Paimon was dead and the male body has to be of her blood so the witch had to produce a blood grandson for the demon king and Paimon wants a male body to possess so the demon king, grandma witch cult leader and the cult must have committed disturbing sacrifices in hope she gets pregnant and it’s a boy. So Annie that can not let her mom do to a son of hers what she did to get brother is careful but ends up pregnant and with a boy so Annie does very thing she can to miscarry but nothing worked and Peter was completely healthy which is impossible if she was contact to trying everything to miscarry so the movie implies it wasn’t a choice she had, and nothing was going to take the demon kings male body away .
I have 2 female friends that were horrible abused their entire childhoods . So much so that both had their tubes tied at 18 and the other at 20 years old so they can never bring children into this world. I love them both but they have suffered serious emotional and mental struggles thst they are so damaged emotionally thst both were SO terrified to have a baby one day and have that baby experince what they did for 18 years thst that decision pernmantly take the ability to have children away at 18 and 20 wasn’t jsut the only choice , in their minds they couldn’t chance it. Still breaks my heart thst tk this day they struggle so much, they destroy every relationship intentionally to avoid the possibility of that man actually being a horrible human bieng.. they’ve deprived themselves of children and marriage . So sad to see that they aren’t capable of seeing that wanting to protect future offspring so badly from the horrors they experienced , they’d eliminate thst possibility befor chancing having their baby go through thst pain. So damn sad they couldn’t see that jsut the thought of what they did showed they could never hurt their own Child and would protect them fron thst pain at all costs. Both would have been amazing moms and logging a child in a way you weren’t loved is actually very healing. Anyway so Annie not wanting to have a baby that would experince what she did and her brother did I think was 100% the drive behind those choices

    • @storageheater
      @storageheater 10 месяцев назад +1

@@mcgfn I think it's an amazing line even out of context, because it injects this brief note of comic hysteria that makes it feel even more unpredictable and real. She does specifically say he's always sneering at her though, which we never see evidence of except in the reflection. But even if that's not the implication, in a movie full of beheadings and possessions, it's especially fun and sly to have this seemingly random, improvised-feeling rant talking about faces on faces, it certainly keeps within the repeated motifs of the movie. I think I would say she said it without herself knowing the implication though - she's just reacting to a sneer, not a demon. But we can see sly extra meanings with hindsight.

But knowing what you know at the end you realize he was the intended target for Paemon. He died. If I remember correctly there is mention of grandma taking care of and maybe even breast feeding Charlie. Also mention that maybe mother separated from grandma for a while, putting the son out of reach. I'm not exactly sure bout this.
So grandma and cult had no choice but to put Paemon temporarily in Charlie. And come to when the movie starts the son is now there and they enact their plan to correct and put Paemon in the son.

Well, not really, horror has always been looked down upon by the mainstream. But you can clearly see, horror comes in many forms, and what Ari Aster does with Hereditary is give us real situations, grief, generational trauma, and mixes fictional horror with the realistic horror. I will put a spoiler warning for anyone who reads the comments before seeing your reaction/ before seeing the actual movie itself as well. (I'm that person that hates spoilers both getting and giving them XD)
    Spoiler Warning:
This movie literally made him (Alex Wolff) have to get therapy it scarred him so much and he wanted to make it as realistic as possible by doing things for real; like actually slamming his face on the desk for the classroom scene. For scenes like the part when she was banging her head and he was crying for his mommy, he based it off of military members who cry for their family members when they are afraid for their lives. Most people unfortunately think his performance is "too over the top" it is rather annoying for instance there were people in my theater that actually laughed at certain scenes like the classroom freak out. It's a shame, but I appreciate it when people do understand his choices as you all did, so thank you for that

Some crazy fun facts: there are 8 different outdoor scenes where at least one or more naked cult memebrs can be seen outside the house in the forest . The grief group are all cult followers look at them closely and you’ll see most of them either in the house naked in diiferent scenes, outside, in the attic of treehouse. Peters friend he’s smoking pot with under the bleacher with the man bun ponytail is in the group (not sure if his other friend is also a cult member but experiences Charlie’s pain and death as he smokes likely aided by the cult member friend. Notice the pamphlet the day of grandmas funeral for the “grief group” is pushed in the mail slot in the door . The mail was already there so it was hand delivered out in BFE to their remote house for Annie to get to get her to the cults gathering to orchestrate the comming events with the new cult leader befriending her. But actually as you see when Annie’s pounding in her door she’s been workin some evil spells with Charlie’s animal head figurines , pictures of Peter with his eyes cut out meaning his soul is gone. Paimon can be seen spelled out earlier in Annie’s apartment. Annie says the chalkboard was her grandsons favorite item she used to conjur him. But when Annie sees Joan in the store parking lot Joan was placing store bags in the back of her car, when Annie gets close to her you can see that chalkboard is in the nee store bag, she jsut purchased it , likely never was a grandson becasue she mentions once she lost her grandsonS to a fire but then later says her grandson (singular) drown. The pagan comment or also said the words Joan spoke and told Annie she had to say perfectly is actual ancient pagan words that are suppose to invite a specific demon god into that moment . At Annie’s Paimon seems to pull Annie’s hair to the side of brush it to the side , remember pagans believe Paimon always Carie’s the heads of the 3 female sacrifices by the Hair and Annie was already promised to Paimon. The flare up of fire and candles is said to be fire is easy for pagan gods and also satanic demons to manipulate to scare the intended targets more . Annie speaks the words inviting Paimon into the home and into her body specifically , you hear Paimons scarry kind of grown evil sound first , then trixter god uses Charlie like voice to get the family to think it’s jsut charlie but I read another explanation that said both Paimon and Charlie’s soul now bound to Paimon and stuck at its side we’re in Annie’s body together which is why charlie sounds terrified , panicked and yelling for her mom, also said her voice is noticeable normal , it’s not the odd toned and spaced words of possessed charlie saying it was her pure soul Paimon brought into Annie’s body to convince dad and Peter but scared the crap out of them . The bursting of candle flames in a ritual is believed to be the arrival of a demon or king of hell. Exploding glasses , jsut paimons tricks , why would Charlie’s soul blast flames and break vases.? When the hands grab Peters head and he thinks it’s his mom, notice the arms grabbing his head, Peter is flat on his back centered on the bed as it clearly shows. The head of his bed is agaisnt the wall directly below the window thst looks at the treehouse which is candle lit inside that night . The 2 arms come straight inside the window , Annie couldn’t have possibly been in the room and somehow outside hiding his head. Not sure if it was to scare him or some spell but also not sure why Annie seems to be right there when he breaks free but she’s by the wall away from the bed. When his head is grabbed the dogs barking and the door slams on it but no one is seen slamming it so maybe paranormal but then when did Annie come in? Casue I do these the door open? There’s a cool video that explains some Midsommar and hereditary stuff that overlapped when Annie was possessed by Paimon upside down banging he’d head on the door like when it was banging peters head in the desk, the rythm, and speed she’s banging her face ex’s lt matches the chopping speed of the girl chopping -100 lbs of nits for 1 cake. He said this was done to show like everything else that night charlie dies , the girl chopping nuts exactly identicle that same speed and rythm shows she was being manipulated or possessed to do it as no one would chop that massive amount of nuts for even 19 cakes. Also the frind thst invites him to the party is the cult friend and tells him his crush will be there and to bring his dick essentially guaranteeing Peter would play into the orchestrated events. Some wonder what the husband did for a living and notice his calmness , when he’s responding to an email from the cemetery about the other grave desecration , his email signature is at the bottom and shows he’s a psychiatrist which explains the calm and refusing to “play along with Annie’s” fantasy” that was actually real. There are a total of at least 5 scenes where a naked figure can jsut barely be seen in background dark rooms . I only saw the grandma and the smiling man by the fireplace , the one that so creepily smiles nonstop at “charlie” which as a cult member he knows it’s Paimon which is why you keep seeing creepy people in white robes staring and waving at charlie. It’s not to ass charlie but to see the demon god they worship. Possessed charlie asks Annie after the funeral who’s going to take care of her when Annie dies , Paimon knowing Annie will die soon.. there’s at least 5 triangles drawn on the floors at Annie’s house , her moms old room, Charlie’s room, 3 others and there’s at least 8 scenes where you can see the words Joan was screaming at Peter calling on their king of hells powers , wrote small in red on random walls they the movie. The pagan commentor said that Annie’s mom would be considered a witch that led the cult thst worships the kings of hell explaining the wooden stick figures being a Nordic pagan witch thing meant to bring evil to wherever they are placed. Beheadings if animals and people would all be sacrifices xx so all Charlie’s witch stick figures with animal heads all over her room and then in Joan’s house and the final scene tree house seem to confirm that (makes me think of Blaine witch and The Witch where those same stick frame skeletons hang in the witches forest form trees . Notice how Peter walks to the treehouse when he’s possessed at the end how slow and in a trance like state , after charlie is beheaded and he believes he jsut killed his little sister he goes from shock panic horror and seems to shift suddenly jsut putting. The car in gear and slowly starting the drive home and then his walk from the car into the house and to his bed is identicle to paimons walk at the end . Satanists, pagans and some witch groups believe for a demon to possess a human body i, thst soul of thst body has to be assaulted constantly with fear, sadness, anger , regret , remove any spiritual faith and all positive aspects of life but notice obviously Paimon manipulated charlie to have her head taken off, that most horrific experience anyone could imagine would be more than enough to break Peter to be possessed to jsut drive home , not call t police or mom and dad , not emotion, , jsut a blank stare that he doesn’t blink in at night or morning and jsut listens to Annie scream , let her find Charlie’s headless body in the back seat days after her mom dies . A planned devastation for Annie to break her down , guilt and sadness for Peter to break him down, Paimon murders the husband so he can’t interfere with the final nights. Saw another comment thst said demons want nothing but to spread fear, sadness, anger , to destroy the lives of souls that got bodies on earth and she said that’s why Annie possessed by Paimon spider manning and floating sits in the ceiling corner and wakes Peter up and floats silently to another curling ibservation point jus to see peters absolute pain and devastation from the opposite side of the room enjoying peters devastation and then moving opposite of Peter jumping out at him as Annie but growing a demonic growl to scare him towards the hall and attic access but also breaking him down in total fear now seeing Charlie’s dead, grandmas dead. Dads burnt to a crisp and mom is a demon thst floats and chips her own head off with her necklace while Peter watches , he was broken and then notices all the naked people in the attic with him and he finally was broken down enough to possess him to run out the window killing himself just removing his soul for Paimon. The book says Paimon can possess bodies under certain conditions for periods of time , male or female but to possess a body permanently it has robbed a male and the soul can’t still be there , basically thst male needs to be broken down and then die and thst body has to be dedicated or offered to him and the male needs to die becasue a demon or king of hell can’t force a soul out of its body it has to beat thst soul down to death spiritually and physically then the soul leaves the body and if dedicated or offered to it, it can possess that healthy male host for it to begin the end of all. Some of he Easter egg videos on these movies I still can’t find all of them but most.

That still doesn’t explain the look of confusion Paimon had at the end of being in Peter. Charlie and Peter are basically intertwined sharing a body since birth. It’s possible that even Paimon with the mindset of Charlie was confused by the sight of the headless mom and grandmother. Which is why the woman called him Charlie. Because that’s what he knows himself to be, fitting a movie about so much trauma that even a literal demon can become traumatized/manipulated into thinking it’s someone else

Apparently some of the people at the party and the other driver on the road the night of the accident orchestrated this, both intentionally making something to set off Charlie’s allergy, and getting Peter to veer off the road into the telephone pole. It was all to take out Charlie, and break Peter’s spirit, slowly drive him insane, and to the point of ending his life, just for Paimon to take over…just the same as Annie’s late brother, having taken his own life too.

Another amazing reaction ✌️ You girls handled this better than my sister when I first showed it to her. She wasn't scared like The Conjuring but more like "What the hell did I watch, I feel like my soul has been drained" 😅 Also FUN FACT: the tongue clicking Charlie does is actually a way to call and control a dromedary camel" and Paimon is depicted riding one. He's also a little incorrectly portrayed in this film.. He doesn't really hate humans or cut off heads, I've read The Lesser key of Solomon in which Paimon is mentioned and out of all the demons he's kinda the friendliest. Unless you're selfishy trying to conjure him like the cult followers in this film ("Bring us wealth, fortune, bind all men to our will") Yea that's kinda needy and selfish 😂. Also at the beginning after the funeral when they're back at their house... You can hear footsteps before they even enter or Charlie goes upstairs meaning the followers were there the entire time (some of them most likely) FUN FACT 2: When Peter's hand raises in a crunchy possessed manner in the classroom, it is the exact same pose as the figure statue of King Paimon in the treehouse. The soundtrack though was like a sunrise in hell... Colin Stetson was absolutely amazing... That ending scene in the treehouse... The music is just perfectly descriptive to the hellish fate they were all expecting. To sum it up... You three are so mentally brave to watch this ❤️ especially Elizabeth once more. Another brilliant reaction. I've actually seen the film 7 times (I guess this is my new Titanic... Please don't judge me. 🤞😂

@@bailey7792 Funny how that’s exactly what happened to Peter. So many tragedies he went insane enough to have a demon inhabit him as his consciousness checked out. His mom telling him he’s worthless and she never wanted him alive was one of the seeds planted. Really, I understand where you are coming from. I do. Her anger is justified. But it doesn’t matter. The mom never wanted him. *Even before he had a chance to speak and stand up for himself, his relationship with his mom was tainted with a hidden layer of animosity. So wtf do you say or do with that? Living next to someone who you are supposed to love but won’t ever be satisfied with anything you ever say or do is torture. She can scream at the top of her lungs about Peter’s “face on his face” lol but it’s true; What you get out of life is what you put into it. She DGAF about him? Fact. She attempted a miscarriage? Fact. Miscarriage failed and now there’s a PARADOX of feeling towards her son? Big fact. She may as well be mad at a corpse. Like, she made her bed but has trouble sleeping? I would too. The point of my rebuttal is: How can you expect someone to be a good/responsible/caring person when their whole concept of love is f**ked? Of course Peter’s gonna be a problem child! Shame on everyone who never saw it coming. The kid was destined to fail. Anyone around him are just casualties of war. (Also, saying you wanted a miscarriage in the name of “love” is hypocritical and we all know it btw.)
In her defence, Peter did a terrible job of even attempting to reconcile. He was irresponsible, unappreciative, and borderline rude.
I’m not a fan of these types of disagreements, justifying 2 opposing sides. Peter was not a good son and she was not a good mom. Let’s just leave it at that and hope this chaos doesn’t actually happen to anyone in real life.
That being said, I don’t know you but I hope you enjoyed the movie and I hope you have a good day. 😄

This is a masterpiece.... that it makes you feel sad and creeped out and horrified does not make it bad. It was the intent of the director and the story to make you feel that way, therefore it's a success. Also, the mom is actually the sane one... she knows what her mother has intended for her children and tries to save them as she already lost her brother and father to her evil intentions. It's the situation her family is in that's insane because they're being possessed by the demon at different times (the bright roaming light) and being manipulated by the evil cult followers. If you rewatch the movie, you'll be able to spot them in various scenes. The dad is well-meaning but clueless. I suggest you watch a video that explains things you may have missed, then you'll realize the brilliance of the story and direction.

Think...no part of this movie would have happened, if Annie right from the beginning, went through her mom's boxes! Pro tips...go back to the scene, the mom's work table, watch the blue bottle! The director did Midsonmar as well. It's good but I just kinda didn't buy the premise, so I wasn't as impressed. This movie here, I would put up with The Thing, Exorcist, the shining, a few others. How Toni Collette didn't win an Oscar for this, is beyond me! A bit of horror truth, when he smashed his face in the desk, he was supposed to hit padding but didn't. His face looking all dislocated, was real! Also Peter's first class, is the same subject from the original Holloween, and the trailer for this came out the same day, the Halloween reboot did!😮😮😮Another callback is during their seance, the clock stops, callback to exorcist! What was hereditary in this family wasn't mental illness, it was Grandma and proly those before her, driving family members insane, with their satanic/cult worship! Charlie was already possessed, represented by the clicks. Heard while she was alive, and after she died, BEFORE the seance. I would say, joan tried sacrificing her son and grandson. Either they killed themselves, or she killed them. Seems if Paimon is not happy with a body it is in, it has to die and be beheaded, so paimon can leave the body, i say it happened to dear old grandma, and definitely happened to Annie and Charlie! I just noticed a weird parallel...the biggest foreshadowing...when the dad gets charlie from the treehouse to go to the funeral, she standing up in the corner, and the camera view is from below slightly like shes twisting and floating!!!! Then In the almost final scenes, the mom is up in the corner of charlies room then floats away, then is up in the corner, above peter, as he's looking at his burned dad!😮 And finally, charlie is back where we first met her, hanging in the treehouse! Biblically speaking, u NEVER want to conjure someone who is dead...this NEVER goes well! King Saul conjured the spirit of the profit, and all went downhill real fast!
Anyone notice in mom's room, triangle on the floor. The mirror? Like absolutely zero reflection?😮😮😮😮. For me, I just couldn't by into Midsonmar, so I thought it was stupid. But u may like it. His next was with Joaquin Phoenix, in I think called, Beau is afraid. The Oscars ought to before themselves on this one! She has been a top ten actor, male or female, for 30 years! The mom in 6th sense, this, knives out, a offbeat comedy with Cameron Diaz, there's nothing she can't do! also think, every word out of grandma and Joanie's mouth was a lie. And u can bet they both killed off the male members of their families, to gain power or get Paimon into one of the male bodies. Or both. Joanie knew, if Annie did a seance, by herself or with family, she would let Paimon/Charlie loose in her house, because Annie had zero idea how to end a seance, or send demons back to where they came from. So Annie's dad was either starved by Grandma or he did it to himself purposely, to be weak and no good for a demon. Annie's brother said in his suicide note, Grandma was putting people inside him. And Joanie? Probably herself, drowned her son and grandson! Also after Charlie's death, the mom goes to sleep in the treehouse, watch the wall when the camera zoom pulls backwards!😮😱

LOL, that's funny when you were talking about symbolism vs symbolic, there is a scene in boondock saints where William Dafoe nitpicks that same thing. Check out boondock saints if you haven't seen it, it's one of my top 5 favorite movies.

Its a brilliantly horrific movie up until the point where it gets a little to supernatural for my liking floating bodies and all that but the first half is unforgettable

The demon this movie mentions is in some really old grimoire. 'The Exorcist' went a similar way, using an ancient evil entity mentioned in historic sources. Ballsy move. I wouldn't tempt fate.

If you want to read a ton of what you missed and corrections to some theories you’d mentioned , read this. Ok, so I’ve read a ton , watched videos from Ari Aster about this and midsommar, learned a lot about todays Paganism cults and beliefs. #1 most of this is all explained in the 4 pages of the book Annie opens of her moms either the sign on the cover which is the symbol that is a real thing and represents King Paemon, the 8th king of hell a. Riding to the pagans and apparently some satanists it’s a demon but one of the most powerful and loyal to Satan. In the symbol you can see the 3 heads hanging which you see and have explained in the 4 pages the mom looks at. You have to pause the movie and read those pages not jsut the highlighted stuff and it explains aof. Also look at the illustration of Paemon which is an actual illustration in pagan text . Paemon is demon that had both male and female genitals, in the pagan faith , he is known as the trixter God , which explains the magic like blue light effect through the out the movie , anytime you see it, it’s Paimon manipulating things to lead or guide its current target to something that will continue to weaken the person using fear. The blue light is in 8 different scenes (I only saw it twice first time I saw this) Paimon rides a beast in helll and Caries 3 severed heads of females sacrificed to him and he holds their souls by doing this. In the illustration you see it’s holding 3 female heads by the hair and a staff with a demon hand at the top pointing the the north west where they believe it resides . Peter when he got possessed momentarily by Paimon at school raised his hand pointing north west . The grandmas friend was performing a ritual yelling at Peter to weaken his soul and will even more so Paimon could possess him. This the blue light to the classroom and , the earlier seeing his reflection smiling which again was not real. Just trickery by Paimon . Paimon bashed peters face into the desk multiple times to cause physical pain and fear to continue weakinging his will but falling asleep he wasn’t feeling fear so Paimon couldn’t take him yet. Being trickster god is why Annie’s husband lit in fire instead of her. There’s no rhym or reason to it’s tricks and lies. It purposely convinced Annie if it set on fire she would be burned to death , in the scene notice her husband is asleep on the couch right next to her as her arms in fire, Paimon showed her clearly he wouldn’t be set on fire but it was just a lie the entire book in fire was planned all along , you can’t burn a ouiji board as it’s suppose to do some bad things and burning the book of Paimon also allowed evil I to the one that burns it. Seemed she would burn to death but it set her husband on fire instead as the final manipulation and heartbreak her souls could take thinking she jsut killed her husband she broke and Paimon possessed her temporarily to finish off peters will before the burn scene a shot of the house from outside in the dark is shown, look really close and you’ll see a ton of naked people standing circling the house trying to both cast spells on the home and family and also to keep Peter from escaping if he’d ran out the door, you see the smiling cult member from the funeral standing in the dark in the house by the door to get outside so he’d have to run upstairs to the attic. Paemon possessing peters mom was to terrify him and make him feel alone after seeing his burnt father and “killing charlie” which wasn’t him, on the way to the party it shows thst telephone pole and Paimons symbol is carved in it. The cult cursed or willed the accident and placed the dead animal there and Peter being high would be easier for Paimon to manipulate to turn to the right to hit the pole perfectly. Charlie’s going to the party and death and allergic reaction were all paimons intention to break Peter and the family unit and love.
Ok so charlie is not Paimon , when charlie was a baby when grandma sunk her claws in her and breastfed her, the performed a ritual to allow Paimon to possess Charlie as a baby but becasue baby’s are innocent it never had sole power over her body. The clicking isn’t charlie, it’s Paimon , notice charlie seemed to have something going on with a mental struggle or condition but she was born healthy , she acts odd and like she doesn’t know how to be a normal human becasue Paimon is inside fighting for control. Notice her face too, it’s looks like half of it melted down on the left side , the eye slants as well, notice also when Peter gets possessed at school his face does the exact same thing. Drooping on the left side and then it clicks. Then when Annie gets possessed at the end her face completely changes as well. Charlie’s hobby was making whitchceaft looking stick figures with dead animal heads she’d chop off animals the Paimon would cause to fly into the window . Notice she doesn’t flinch , never sees the. Bird but stares at the scissors, she knew a dead bird was below the window which Paimon controlled to kill itself so it could chop its head off for another stick figure. Paimon as in the illustration with the 3 choooed of heads of female sacrifices continues to enjoy cutting heads off animals and building witchcraft stick figures for the heads. Thst is Paimon in her. She sleeps outside in the treehouse which you see at the end has that pyramidal ceiling where the cult performs the final ritual. In multiple scenes you’ll see candlelight in the treehouse out peters window , not just the red light of the space heater . Candles used by the cult . The breath outside is in 3 scenes jsut showing that the entire movie , the cult is outside the home doing their thing. Charlie always sleeps in the treehouse becaue it’s been dedicated to Paimon by the cult charlie never uses a blanket 94 has shoes on tho it’s freezing high altitudes temps there becasue Paimon known nothing but misery and as in most paranormal movies and books, a demon near makes the room freezing.. notice also charlie didn’t mention the woman in the burning circle but jsut scared rubbing the head of the bird and clicked becasue it was for him. Paimon helped push charlie to stick her head out at the right moment to behead her as its second sacrificed female (the grandmother offered her soul to Paimon in exchange for riches on earth and knowledge. The cult dug her body up takes her into the attic of their home performs an evil ceremony and chops her head off over symobols drawn on the floor. You hear the cult in the attic in 2 earlier scenes jsut before the family walks in the front door. The beheaded sacrifice and ritual leaving the body in the attic was in planning for that end scene and to invite pagan spirits into the home to eff with everything and everyone. Paimon took Charlie’s head and life and did the same to Annie by possessing her and cutting her own head off with the necklace her mom gifted her when she died which matched the one around her neck in the casket. It’s little sharp diamon shaped metal links with paimons symbol . Paimon wraps the necklace around her neck once and pulls back and fourth to cut her head off which completes thd 3rd and final female promised sacrifice . The grandmother who was the cult leader gave Paimon her daughters heads and souls for riches and to be at paimons side for eternity as one of his heads he carried everywhere. The pure charlie soul we ever saw and Annie’s are damned to have the same eternity. The grandmother also promised paimons male body to possess on earth and the cult would have continuously performed rituals to help Annie get pregnant with a boy tho she didn’t want another child and like she said she tried to have miscarriages every way possible but nothing worked becasue of the cult and the grandmas promise. When Peter sees Annie chop her head off, floating and possessed and then a naked cult all around him he broke finally enough to be manipulated to run out the window and kill himself , normal response would be open the attic door and trie to run but run through a window??? He does on impact and you see if you look closely his soul leave his body as a shadow and then paimon finished chopping Annie’s head off which releases Paimon from her and Paimon floats as a blue orb (often related to demons and paranormal ) seeps into his chest and heart and Paimon now posses peters body completely. Pete died “committing suicide” or forced by spells so Paimon wouldn’t have to share the body with peters soul like it did with charlie and Annie, Charlie’s head from the first body offered and possessed (charlie) was mounted on the stick figure Paimon in the treehouse and once Annie’s head came off. She and grandma were bound to that fate floating the 2 bodies up to the treehouse and bowing to the statue of paimon.. Annie mentioned her dad hung himself and had mental issues and I read a pagans comment thst said Paimon would want the grandmothers husband dead once the son and daughter were born Becasue he was married to Paimons first sacrifice female so it either possessed her husband and hung himself or possibly the cult did it which the grandmother was the leader of back then trying to offer her son to Paimon )trying to put people inside him” he kill ex himself instead so the grandmother would offer herself, her daughter Annie and then next female grandchild as it’s heads and souls and then another male child for its own body..

I drank wine with y'all when I watched this. Would have been funny if y'alls campfire went up when Anne threw the book in the fireplace. Be safe and Yea both the son and Toni were robbed of their Oscar performances.
