    This week Chase finds himself atop the Triumph Tiger 660. If you didn't know it shares the same in-line triple found in the Triumph Trident, theres no wonder the Tiger Sport is just as much fun while still being able to fit a weekend's worth of clothes or maybe some leathers for an impromptu track day.

      hey im a looking to get into riding this season. im coming from a back round of road cycling and used to be a bike messenger most of these bike were very aggresive. I'm 5'6 with an inseam about 29 to 30 looking to get into a semi comfortable riding position that can handle city riding aswell as the road. other things im looking for is quick acceleration to maneuver out of sketchy traffic stituations if needed , top speed of 120mph is more than enough. Bike I been considering Yamaha : MT03, MT07, Kawasaki : 125 PRO, Z450, Z650, honda : Grom, 650R, suzuki : DR200S , GSX-S750

    I've owned 4 Triumphs. A 2002 Trophy 1200, a 2012 Speed Triple 1050, a 2018 T120 Bonneville, and now a 2022 Tiger Sport 660. The best all-around bike is the Tiger 660 Sport. The Tiger is the easiest to live with, ride, and enjoy.

    I just bought the Tiger Sport 660 last month! This bike is great for new riders as well as more experienced ones. I'm somewhere in the middle. The power won't overwhelm, but it's there if you know where to look for it. Also, the panniers are a cinch to install.

    Great review and nice to see local roads. I just rode a Tiger 660 for a few hours when I was in Arizona this week and loved it. I was on it for about 4 hours and roughly 200 miles and the seat was great the first few hours, but got pretty uncomfortable for my 6'-0", 200 lb frame the 2nd two hours on it. I definitely need to take a break every hour and a half or so. But everything else was great and for the money this is a homerun for Triumph. I did miss the cruise control on the highway but I don't think that is a deal breaker. One annoying thing I found that is probably easily fixable is that the clutch cable obstructs the view of the screen. Small gripe but it was annoying along with the fact that low beam headlights only has one lamp lit in the front - I rode in high beam the whole time to get around that. Nice review and ride safe.

    As someone who is looking to get a bike next spring and is now torn between this and the MT07 a comparison would be awesome. I never thought I'd consider something like this, but damn it looks good and the comfort looks unmatched!

      As someone who daily commuted a MtT 07 2018 for 2 years I would add that it was a blast to have. So much torque down low such a great bike for in-town city riding. MT 07 like most if not all naked/standard bikes are don’t have a windscreen which I the beginning you won’t mind I mean you can ride like a hoot on that thing. However if you are daily commuting it’ll tire you every time you get on the highway/freeway. I even purchased a windscreen for that reason. The wind was still an issue even with a windscreen. Not cool have sore neck fighting the wind after your commute. For that reason I’d go with this Tiger.

    OC: I have tried the trident and really liked it, but at the time I thought a sport-tourer/ADV version was missing - providing more comfort and practicality.
    I believe this to be a very complete machine, but still haven't had the chance to try one.
    You mentioned the lack of cruise control and adjustability on suspension, but I would probably only mind the weight and seat height.
    Cheers

    Loving my Red 22. So Tidy, and Peppy and Agile. So easy to ride. I don't need to give her gas when I let the clutch out.... she rolls on, and then, give her the gas. Handles Great! Actually you get three modes in each main road setting. Triumph did a great job on this one. You can add on a manual CC unit.

    OC: The Triumph 660 is a great engine for the bike. Right out of the Triumph Trident. But I'm with you on it's two biggest misses. With no front suspension adjustment and no cruise control. It falls a little short on the touring side. It gives you rear suspension adjustability for having a passenger. Though truly any bike falling into the touring category SHOULD have cruise control standard.

      @@stubbingtonmarigold3032 no they won’t/didn’t, the Tiger 660 and the XSR900 are not for the same type of rider, at all. A beginner/medium experience driver will feel unsafe on the XSR and if you haven’t yet, ride the Tiger and re-asses if the Tiger’s 35bhp less is actually an issue, I’m pretty sure you won’t think so anymore.

    I just watched your video on the 2022 Triumph Tiger 660.
    Very nice md size sport tourer adv bike.
    I was surprised to see it has heated grips but doesn’t have cruise control.
    They should go together as options.
    One thing you didn’t like about the Triumph.
    You had to pull the clutch lever in to start the bike even in neutral.
    That is not just a Triumph thing.
    It is a safety feature that has around for over 16 years on All bikes.
    It is on my 2006 Suzuki 1250 S Bandit.
    It’s really no big deal.
    Get out and ride more modern bikes. You will eventually get use to and learn to appreciate this modern feature.

    I love this Tiger 660's.
    Such pretty practical bikes, the main issue I have is the price. They are £8500 in the UK, for a 660! And a basic one without cruise control too! If it was a 6k bike like it should be when yeah I'd be thinking about it.

    I rode one of these back in January and I agree with Chase that stop and go balance was phenomenal. Power delivery in road mode was peppy and it flicked over in corners almost like a naked bike.
    The biggest let down for me was how the wind hit the bottom my helmet with the screen in the highest setting (5’11). It was rather annoying in my experience. In the low setting it was right on my chest, which was totally fine. Second issue is no cruise control, but I don’t think any other bike in its class has it either.
    It didn’t spark joy like it did for Chase though, but still a fun bike.

    I have a 2009 Versys 650. It's been doing what this bike is segmented for for years. Not sure why it's not a more popular bike. It really is a Versatile System as the name implies (Versys). Newer models are more angular like this bike. This bike is a good looking bike. I hope it does well.

    • @NicePantsLance

      Its the motor honestly. The 650cc parallel twin kinda feels soulless and appliance-like. The overall bike quality is ok, but kinda cheap. Its an extremely practical bike, but it doesnt stir the soul like the other bikes do. Its a good bang for your buck, but being practical and cheap isnt what sells bikes these days. Still a great machine

      I second that. It's a workhorse, but that's about it. Suzuki and Kawasaki seem to make a lot of those. Value for money and they work. The fact is though, that riding a motorcycle is so much more than that for most of us. Plus typically they are uglier to look at.

      In my opinion, the Tuono 660 is a very soulful bike, but the motor has had issues and reliability is in question. If youre passionate about Aprilia and have a dealer nearby, then maybe the Tuono is a better buy if you have deep pockets. Id personally go for a Tiger 660 over the Tuono because of the triple sound and the proven reliability of the triumph triples. I also prefer the looks of the Triumph and having sat on both, the Tiger 660 is more comfortable

    I think the reaosn why there's no cruise control on the bike is because Triumph want to give punters a reson to buy the 900 options. The 850 doesn't have it either and that's nearly as cheap as the 660. Triumph are edging themselves out of the middleweight market. Poor chaps.

    • @stubbingtonmarigold3032
      @stubbingtonmarigold3032 2 года назад

      They will lose sales to Yamaha. Mt-09 is cheaper and xsr900 with cruise control is like 300 dollars more once you had triumphs ridiculous freight charge.

      @@stubbingtonmarigold3032 you keep saying the XSR is gonna do something to Tiger sales, but the bikes arent even in the same genre. The XSR and MT bikes are naked sport bikes. The Tiger is an upright sport touring. Not even comparable in the slightest. If you want to compare the XSR to any triumph, its the Street Triple 765 which is one of the most popular middleweight naked sport bikes right now. The Tracer 7 is the most comparable to the Tiger 660, and so far its not stealing any sales lol

    The 675 was already low enough power, why would they make it even lower

    • @NicePantsLance
      @NicePantsLance 2 года назад +1

      Probably to under-stress the motor and make the reliability even greater. They focused on mid-range punch and it basically makes the same torque as the 675 all throughout the rev range

  • @stubbingtonmarigold3032

    At that price and being a ride by wire , this should have cruise control- manufacturers better get ready to lose sales to the xsr900 that has it.......

    For a couple more grand you can get a Ninja 1000(and the Ninja is what I feel like they stole the looks from -- especially certain models like the 650 or my 2012). The newer Ninja 1000's have the same features minus standard heated handgrips, but they do have a quickshifter. The Ninja 1000 is over 500 lb's, but 138hp vs 80 for this. Just figured I'd mention all this because the Ninjas a lot more bike considering the money.
    Unless you want a non-ABS Ninja 650 and don't mind 13hp less, the Ninja 650 isn't really going to be worth it over this bike... but I honestly see them as quite similar in terms of class. There really aren't too many affordable, upright touring bikes with similar powerbands.

      The Tiger 660 is geared a bit more to beginner riders, though. I wouldn't recommend a liter bike to any beginner. Not to mention they are entirely different styles of bikes, I don't think anyone is gonna be choosing between this bike and a Ninja 1000. A couple grand is also a lot of money.

      @@firianblackproductions9693 if we're talking beginner, that's a different story. However I went from license to non-ABS Ninja 1000 and I've had no issues. I would disagree they are entirely different style bikes. In terms of class, it's an entry size touring bike whereas the ninja 1000 breaks into full size. While the seating position is a bit more aggressive on the Tiger, the bars are much higher. Bit of a trade off. I'd say the Tiger is just a bit more touring oriented in terms of geometry. But then again, a 1000 is a more touring oriented engine than a 660. And actually, I'm browsing what I'd buy new, and I personally like this bike but would almost surely go with a newer Ninja 1000 over this. Biggest downside is it doesn't come with heated handgrips stock... but then again, you know what's great for travel/touring/traffic? a quickshifter that the Tiger doesn't have
      edit: and the you can't adjust the front suspension on the Tiger.

      @@delasse3178 Just because YOU have done something and managed to not have a negative experience does not mean it was a good idea. The license test is a basic course and there are many skills that aren't taught in that course. There's also things they teach that are harder to implement in the real world. It's actually fairly common for someone to get licensed and then when they go get their first bike they end up dropping it in the parking lot of the dealership. Most seasoned riders would recommend you start out on a 300-400 or something like an SV650 if they simply must have a bigger engine. Much easier to refine your skills on those before moving up to a heavier and far more powerful machine.
      But c'mon. You're comparing a supersport liter bike that was dressed as a tourer to an adventure bike with the engine they built to go into a beginner friendly sport bike, which was the Trident, to make it more of a road focused machine. A much better comparison to this bike would be the Ninja 650, MT07, SV650, Versys 650 ect.
      If you wanted a Triumph to compare to the Ninja 1000 you'd be looking at the Tiger 900, Tiger 1200, Street Triple RS, maybe Speed Triple RS. Not an entry level bike that's designed to be more for people who prefer midrange power and something that's a little lighter and more flickable.

    • @delasse3178
      @delasse3178 2 года назад

       @Firian Black Productions i literally said "if we're talking beginner, that's a different story." but please keep arguing with the fact I said what I did. I'm not arguing anyone should do anything, I'm just saying on paper, the Ninja 1000 is a far better value dollar for dollar. I took lessons, and bought a 1000cc bike; and anyone who takes lessons, or simply gets a permit -- and then buys a bike, is going to have to take it step by step regardless of how big it is. In fact, I know more people who went 1000cc on their first bike than any other class bike. Regardless, if you're in the market for a bike and especially aren't a beginner rider, I'm just pointing out the regular ol non-supersport Ninja is simply a far better value motorcycle. It beats out the new Suzuki S1000GT which they made as a direct competitor to the Ninja.
      The Tiger 1200 is a $19,000 dollar bike that is twice the price of the Tiger 660. Again, my point remains; (to make you happy) if you're NOT a beginner rider, and you're in the market for something a bit faster or better value than the Tiger 660, and don't demand it's any more adventure oriented/rugged, than the $12,XXX Ninja 1000 is going to blow both the $19,XXX+ Tiger 1200 and the $9,XXX+ Tiger 660 out of the water in terms of dollar to dollar performance.
      The Ninja 1000 is also really not a supersport bike. It's geared for midrange, despite that's not what you believe. It is in fact geared completely differently than the ZX10R and does NOT share the same engine as the ZX10R. It is a sports touring bike, like the Tiger 660, but a bigger brother that costs WAY less than the Tiger 1200. The supersport ZX10R has upwards of 200hp depending on year -- any year Ninja 1000 is around 140. I did compare it with the Ninja 650 in my post. The MT07 is not a touring bike. The SV650 is not a touring bike. Of course neither is the Ninja 650 yeally, and yes, the Versys 650 is closer to this bike than the Ninja 650, but as it is about the same price as the Tiger 660, and with 13 less horsepower -- for some, it makes the Ninja 650 more of a viable contender to the Tiger than the Versys 650 is to the Tiger.
      I also disagree this classifies as an 'entry level bike', it still has 80hp. If you're as opposed to some one starting on a ninja, I'm shocked you'd determine this to be 'entry level'.
