The scary thing is, most people are honest and act in good faith, but they are surrounded by scofflaws and scoundrels who mislead and gaslight and manipulate. The types of people who enabled the worst of the Nazi abuses were not the monsters themselves, but the good and honest people who believed in whatever bullschitt the monsters fed them. Thank you, Ms. Cassidy Hutchinson. I’m a 72 year old retired nurse, songwriter, and old hippie who has not gotten lost in cynicism because of people like you. So many young women standing up to these men who’s corruption seems to know no bounds.
This reminds me of a movie I watched years ago, the Verdict with Paul Newman. A young nurse who was afraid of the lawyers who ruined her career! She Said " Who were these men?" !!!! The very same thing! Who are these men who have tried to undermine her courage and truth?
Cassidy Hutchinson is one of the true heroes to come out of the January 6 event. She s spoke up and shared what she saw and heard from those working closest to the president.

Elderly Aussie here: I am so proud of Cassidy Hutchinson. For her Honesty and Integrity I sincerely hope the DOJ and the legal profession honours her professionalism and does not allow the criminal politicians and lawyers to escape their just deserts. Young women (and men) of America, irrespective of your race or colour, here is a young woman who is a role model for all of you. Being truthful isn't always easy but it is the right thing to do. Honesty is in short supply around this World we live in - I hope her Integrity is recognised by her Country e.g. Congressional Medal of Honour. God Bless You, Cassidy.
This is exactly what I felt listening to Alex's testimony all those years ago- wondering about how much courage it took to step into the unwanted limelight and do what was right. I never thought to see its like again. Sadly, just 47 years later, it becomes necessary again. But I am impressed beyond words by both of these people.
I agree completely. I was absolutely riveted the entire hour. Bravo for this level of journalism and to Ms. Hutchinson. I also have a Russian Blue. They are most intelligent. It is entirely possible that Ms. Hutchinson's testimony, and hers alone, will get Trump Indicted Federally. The DOJ may yet call her as a witness.
Her mother is just a different band of rotten than dad is. Her mom is the type of mother that loves her daughter's husband more than she loves her own daughter.
I have been a BSA volunteer for many years. The first two things a Scout learns are the Scout Law and the Scout Oath. I sometimes struggle with the idea of teaching them those principals and then have them go out into a world that actually values none of them.
@@charlesjames1442 - considering the lawsuits and cases brought against BSA in the recent years, seems like the organization was being used as a front for nefarious activities in many locations.
This was one of your best shows ever Mr. McDonnell. It must have felt so good to be able to bring those two together. Very thought-provoking and profound to think that someday, someone may find themselves inspired by Ms. Hutchinson doing the right thing.
When Cassidy said that she looked up about Watergate, my first thought was that she'd maybe tried to contact Jill Wine-Banks to be her lawyer. The end story turned out to be just as amazing and our incredible Lawrence was a part of it. Inspirational all round.
What a great story! I'm so inspired by Cassidy's authentic courage and moral compass, one which Trump world has no concept of. Thankful that a young woman like her had enough faith in herself and integrity to speak the truth as she experienced it.
Per Insider "Cassidy Hutchinson said she lied in her original deposition to the House Capitol-riot committee. She said she initially told the panel she hadn't heard of Trump lunging at a Secret Service agent. But soon after her deposition, she said she told her attorney, "I lied, I lied, I lied."
Where was her truth. She never give it. I hope you become a victim of fake testimony with out evidence but I doub that won't even get you to start thinking and questioning
Cassidy Hutchinson will be the face of moral integrity and towering courage for years to come. What an amazing young woman - she's an inspiration to us all!
I can only imagine the anguish she felt. But I'm glad she weighed her options and chose to be truthful, amazing how the Trump administration would try to corrupt good people but it won't be here. Ms Hutchinson you have a moral compass and it works fine!
Extraordinary story. There are heroes among us, many of them -- and they can inspire us to live heroically, too. Thank you, Ms. Hutchinson. Thank you, Mr. Butterfield.

Gigi, your quote really spoke to me. I am a mother too, and I hope my children and more people stand by their convictions of truth and honor. With America going insane, we need more people like Cassidy to stand up and speak the truth loud and clear.
We were all afraid. In fact, the fight isn’t over yet. But this young woman is such an inspiration. Let’s not forget that everyone who testified to this committee was Republican and chose country over party. I’ve been reading the report all day, and it reads like a crime novel.
Words cannot begin to express how moving this presentation was. I feel that it was extremely powerful and more so that Hutchinson and Butterfield were able to connect. To say this presentation was excellent would be an understatement. Well done.
This was the sort of story that got told when I was young. This was what White America thought we were - people who could find a way through the darkness by following good examples, and look at the mirror all our lives. We did not realize how many people we were leaving behind without guidance - both people of color and children being raised in this soulless machinery. Heartbreaking. I don't understand how she survived.
Get a grip, she lied under oath. We see what makes someone you liberals are proud of, tell the right lie, and we love you. Now, she is telling the lie you liberals want her to tell, so she is your hero.
"You'll never regret doing the right thing." Hmmm.... I hope you're right, but I think there will be many days on which she will feel that her life would have been more straightforward if she had 'gone with the flow'.

I watched Cassidy’s testimony live and was awestruck with her, her courage, and integrity. You certainly can pass the “mirror test”. I was and am incredibly proud of who she is and satisfied to know that there are people like her in our government. And while there are scoundrels in government and all walks of life I believe that there are more Cassidys than scoundrels. Either way I’m very pleased to know Cassidy Hutchinson! 16:16
God bless Cassidy Hutchinson. She may still feel as though she failed, but I would tell her that she must rest assured that she can pass the mirror test. I am a baby boomer, but let me tell you this, if she is a representative of her generation then her generation is well represented and our country will be well-served. Thank you Cassidy. Thank you.
Another Boomer here totally agrees with you! I will never ever forget her testimony that day! I knew she was telling the truth from beginning to end. I could just feel it right through my TV screen. I hope there are absolutely beautiful things in her future.
Wishful thinking... Why would you possibly conflate one person's morality with that of an entire generation? I don't mean to insult you but your thinking is absurd.
To me, passing the mirror test is everything. To me , give me any amount of money. If I cant look at myself in the mirror, I've got nothing. What price would you accept to sell your dignity? Ask each of those who has tried to help Trump achieve his illegal goals.
I hope so, too. I was thinking that maybe she should leave the country, go where her face won't be recognized for a while. The entire U.S. population owes her a debt, and if a GoFundMe were set up to pay for a long vacation for Ms. Hutchinson, I would gladly contribute!
@LauraMorland I can't imagine having to leave the country for being a person of integrity. That's what the disgraced, twice impeached, morally bankrupt former guy unleashed on America. He has done irreparable damage to this country. If he is not held accountable along with his enablers in congress and elsewhere who covered up his corruption this nation is doomed. @@hitchinaride1972 I agree with you wholeheartedly. I would gladly donate. And I love your string of adjectives: "disgraced, twice impeached, morally bankrupt former guy"! Life might be easier for Cassidy, though, if she were to spend a year abroad. I mean, what is she doing now? Where has she been living for the past six months? She's famous enough now that her photo would certainly appear in tabloids if she were seen anywhere that papparazzi are around. Is she in hiding? FYI, my husband and I live half the year in France (where we just arrived), and so I may be prejudiced, but living abroad has its own rewards.
Beautiful report on these two whose lives had never crossed before the Jan 6 committee. We all owe a debt to Cassidy Hutchinson for her intelligence, tenacity, honesty, and bravery. 26 y/o? Long may she live. What an icon.
A 26 year old with more integrity in her pinky than the whole of the Trump organization and many of the men and women that serve on congress that are more than twice her age. That testimony was full of desperation and pride at the same time. She did the right thing and I hope she never forgets that.
She's a remarkable young woman who's courage and conviction should never be forgotten or diminished with time in any way. I had a tremendous amount of respect for her when I saw her testimony live, for I watched all of the hearings as they happened. My feeling of respect and admiration for her now is beyond measure!
Cass, as she is affectionally called has earned her honorable place in US history, exposing the utterly corrupt Trump presidency, she will be remembered for centuries to come, I salute her, a true patriot she is!
I get the argument, and no one should get a statue for doing the right thing, but could you imagine being 26 years old and pressured by potus and all his henchmen? Yikes. I still say what she did was commendable, all things considered.
Me too- so powerful- I wish I could have seen their conversation w/ each other. So thankful she had the strength and courage. so sad her father is such a POS and wouldn't help her in her most desperate hour
I can't express my admiration for that young lady. So much bravery, moral strength, and conviction than I ever had at that age or even now. As another commenter pointed out though, Alex Butterfield had it easier than Cassidy Hutchinson does due to the prevalence of social media being used to destroy people's lives, the viciousness of the rump cult, tons of semi-automatic weapons common now... No equivalency from an historical perspective.
Having Stefan Passantino as an ethics lawyer is just devious! Fun though, watching powerful older men, bragging, grandstanding and mansplaining in front of young, attractive, only seemingly naive women, who will not be coerced by them and instead will be bringing them down with integrity and character. Nothing but respect!
Why should my comments be any less repetitious than the google's offensive and unstoppable ads? Only one question for RUclips: Does anyone really think more frequent and more offensive ads can lead to profit?
The fact that this attorney was an “ethics” attorney is truly priceless - you couldn’t make this stuff up. …and, at the end of the day - at the end of our lives, all we have to leave behind is our reputation, our character. You either have integrity, or you don’t. The difference between Cassidy Hutchinson, and Trump’s attorney, that was assigned to her, should really be noted. She did the right thing - and in my opinion, has more of what it takes to lead a country than Trump did - even at the tender age of 26.
Many of us has had friend's who were the complete opposite of us in their thoughts and actions. She seems to be a cradle Republican but one can see she has been cut from one of the finest quality cloths of integrity, values and morals. Her conscience was definitely her guide . That stood out bravely. I salute her.

So many young women standing up to these men who’s corruption seems to know no bounds.

This is exactly what I felt listening to Alex's testimony all those years ago- wondering about how much courage it took to step into the unwanted limelight and do what was right. I never thought to see its like again. Sadly, just 47 years later, it becomes necessary again. But I am impressed beyond words by both of these people.
Brilliant, Lawrence. Brought tears to my eyes. Very powerful. Your entire hour was must-see.
Quadruply impressed by her courage, learning now about the shabby treatment she got from her father.
