She had to prove she can financially support him for 10 years and he can’t go on any government assistance. They require a certain number of tax returns and she isn’t able to provide that.

It was a nice property and not cheap and was within the very small area of land that they allowed foreigners to purchase property at that time. I had to submit police reports that I had committed no crimes and proof of my financial assets. I purchased the land to build a home and retire there and then leave the property for my family, but life intervened with the death of my parents and the family farm being left to me to care for. But I still believe that St. Kitts government was right to vett me to be sure that I was a responsible person to come into their country and owe property.

The downside to applying for a spousal visa or sponsoring someone is that you are personally responsible for them and their necessities for 10 years, whether they seek employment or not. This is a tremendous burden to put on a casual online friend. I would do it only for people I have known and loved as friends for many years, who desperately needed help for medical issues or otherwise.

We just got our k1 through boundless. The amount of paperwork was around 3 inches thick for our evidence. Just the application was over 70 pages. It was around $2k btw so it is NOT cheap and took us 10 months. Its not a simple process or easy, its very intrusive, and your fiance can't come into the US while its processing either (you can travel to their country, though).
Yes, this needs to be fixed. No question about that. And illegals who entered the US years ago and have families here and worked should not be deported. All we are saying now is about the recent three and 1/2 years. These people never went through the legal process, many of them have criminal histories and committed crimes abroad and while in our country and they need to be removed. Also, why do we have to support others who have entered recently depending on our social systems to support them -Social Security, Medicare, housing subsidies and debit cards, when our own poor and homeless and veterans don't have these things? Our people have paid into these programs from their wages or fought for our country. They have earned the right to help and support. We owe these others nothing unless they have legimately wanted to be reunited with their families and we see proof of that.
And one last point if you come to be reunited with other family members, don't look to our government to support you while you're here. Get a job or rely on your family or community for help.

Having been involved with sponsoring an immigration here's a couple things: -the sponsor has to own a home. -the sponsor has to be employed(with a minimum income), not be in active bankruptcy and have good credit. -sponsor and the person looking to immigrate must not have a criminal record. -it can take up to 5 years to receive permanent residency once the person arrives in Canada and they must be employed -Chantal would essentially be responsible for Salah and have the power to have him deported if she withdrew her sponsorship and he had no one to take it over. -the one being sponsored has all kinds of tests and check ins to complete over the span of 5 years. These are just a few to name. Sponsorship is very different then asylum seekers and individual immigration (which is crazy expensive). In Chantal's case she's not qualified to be a sponsor in any way, Salah is probably playing the long game because he's broke and has now education/work experience to be considered a positive addition to Canada. He also likely has some passport issues if he's not a legal citizen of Kuwait or has some form of criminal history. It's very complicated to get permanent residency in Canada if you're not rich with great career prospects (doctor, scientist, educator etc). Chantal bragged about making alot of money before and paying for Cokey, she was the perfect target. At the rate she's going she's also not going to live much longer so once he got to Canada for a certain amount of time and she dies he is free to stay if they are actually married.

Having been involved with sponsoring an immigration here's a couple things:
-the sponsor has to own a home.
-the sponsor has to be employed(with a minimum income), not be in active bankruptcy and have good credit.
-sponsor and the person looking to immigrate must not have a criminal record.
-it can take up to 5 years to receive permanent residency once the person arrives in Canada and they must be employed
-Chantal would essentially be responsible for Salah and have the power to have him deported if she withdrew her sponsorship and he had no one to take it over.
-the one being sponsored has all kinds of tests and check ins to complete over the span of 5 years.
These are just a few to name. Sponsorship is very different then asylum seekers and individual immigration (which is crazy expensive).
In Chantal's case she's not qualified to be a sponsor in any way, Salah is probably playing the long game because he's broke and has now education/work experience to be considered a positive addition to Canada. He also likely has some passport issues if he's not a legal citizen of Kuwait or has some form of criminal history.
It's very complicated to get permanent residency in Canada if you're not rich with great career prospects (doctor, scientist, educator etc). Chantal bragged about making alot of money before and paying for Cokey, she was the perfect target. At the rate she's going she's also not going to live much longer so once he got to Canada for a certain amount of time and she dies he is free to stay if they are actually married.
