It apparently is taken from the movie "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy as a Nigerian Prince. Anyway, after all the nonsense sounds, it's funny as heck to have this sentence in English at the end!
When there was a break in filming for lunch ,the wrong sandwich was delivered to the Indian guy and he said "this is not my sandwich" and Tate put it in the sketch. He's ready to laugh at the end..
So immitating the way other languages sound to us is funny unless the people from that country aren't white! Only the Indian and African and Chinese were wrong? Nothing wrong here, its comedy and no more than that
You are one of the very few reacting to this recognizing that Swedish was from Swedish Chef (from Muppet show). And I saw dozens of reactions. Amazing. Greetings
What is funnier than the content here is that Ms Tate revealed that this took a myriad of takes to film mainly in part to the fact that the young Chinese lady kept losing it and just couldn’t keep a straight face! 😆
🤣 my gosh the uproar this would cause if transmitted today!! And yet they had to do many takes during this sketch as the actors were hysterical😂😂. If you have time, have a quick look at Catherine Tates characters 'Nan' or 'Derek'.
The great thing about this is the butt of the joke is Catherine's ignorance. Yes, everyone else is also the butt of various jokes. But she is the main target. Please make sure to share any Catherine Tate clips with Mrs Jay. She will love them. Hope everything is going well with the move. & please remember not to push yourself to breaking Jay. Much love to everyone from here in GB
That was actually really funny watching you trying not to laugh because it feels wrong! 😂 But it actually isn't wrong. It's simply humour about how people sound to those who don't speak their language. British are mimicked so much. Irish too. Australians...it's nothing to do with skin. It's an exaggeration of sounds. We laugh because we know it's true and we feel guilty yet no cruelty, lies or attacks have occurred. It's so clever. And it's really funny. If only everyone could not be offended. These actors wouldn't have done it if it had been offensive to them.
I agree. people get offended by so much these days it's hard to tell what you can and can't say... which is why as you said it feels wrong, but it isn't.... Thanks for watching!
I’d like to understand something, watched quite a few reaction videos of this and I’m seeing a familiar pattern…. You all laugh and enjoy it until the black man appears and then it goes quite quiet, why is that? This isn’t racist at all so I can’t see that as a reason, but if it was then why is it ok to be racist and laugh at the Italian and Chinese…. But not the African?
Totally agree, so many laugh at every nationally except the darker skinned people. Fascinates me as well. They are all actors, if they were offended they wouldn’t have taken the role, they knew exactly what was going to happen and probably found it difficult to keep a straight face. I’ve heard so many times it took many takes as the Asian lady kept cracking up laughing. Why say that’s wrong to people from other countries only with darker skin, but every other country is funny - why? They are all in this together acting as foreign human beings from different countries.
@@JitteryJayno no no Jay you do the same as the rest, your face drops a little and you say oh no and watch hesitantly. I’m not complaining, just wondering why lol
I love the old days when comedy wasnt filtered and every race creed colour relegion nationality gender and sexuality got equally ripped. Those days of comedy are well gone now what a pity.
Oh, no feelings of guilt here... When I said "That's so wrong" it was more a figure of speech... Trust me, I don't take offense to much of anything lol. I thought the whole skit was hilarious! Thanks for watching!
I thought the whole thing was utterly hilarious, but then, I'm from an older generation so I don't get offended by ANYTHING lol... I was probably thinking of all of the stereotypes I've heard over the years ... I think pretty much ANY stereotype is wrong, but I agree with what someone else commented that if it was just towards ONE person, it would be offensive, but she roasts them all equally, which makes for good comedy :)
when you think about it, it's a slow, predictable, repetitive sketch that's been carefully ordered to remove any shock value to what she's doing. It's kind of incredible that it remains so funny!
Figure of speech... when I said it was "so wrong", I meant it was hilarious... The whole skit was, in my opinion, very well acted out... I love the way she can keep from laughing and act as if she has no idea what she's doing may be offensive... Brilliant! Thanks for watching!
Sorry, reaction channel... Must... react... A link to the original video is in the description on all of my reactions if you would rather watch that instead?
@JitteryJay You are clearly confused between reaction and commentary. A reaction video is just that.... we see your reaction (I.e facial expression, laughter if you find something funny, jump if you are scared, cry if moved etc) nowhere does a reaction channel require non stop chatting over the very thing you are supposed to be reacting too. Many people make this mistake.
Catherine Tate is a genius.
Thanks for watching!
They had to do 13 takes as the Chinese lady dissolved into laughter.
I love the way the actor playing the African guy almost cracked.
I'm glad you enjoyed this one. Laughter is the best tonic.
It really is!
Why is " this is not my sandwich" so funny?, cherry on the top

I wanted someone to say it! Guys, you're allowed to laugh at non-white people's accents 😂😂 I died of laughter and I'm not white!
Show me on the dolly where they hurt you sweetheart x
Yeah but Africa is not a Country. The white people had tags with their Country on it
What’s funny is her character’s stereotypical ignorance that most of the world shows when it comes to the accents of foreigners.
