“Deflation” Final Heartbreak for England Again As Late Winner Earns Spain Euro 2024 Glory

- England’s wait for a first major men’s trophy since 1966 goes on after substitute Mikel Oyarzabal struck at the death as Spain inflicted a second successive European Championship final defeat on Gareth Southgate’s side.
Three years ago the nation stood on the edge of history, only for an agonising, all too familiar, shoot-out defeat meaning they had to walk past the trophy as Italy celebrated long into the Wembley night.
England overcame an unconvincing start in Germany to make another continental showpiece, but the country’s first ever final on foreign soil ended in more heartbreak as silky Spain triumphed 2-1 at the Olympiastadion.

STOP saying England did well when having lost . The last time England won a national cup was in 1966 that's 58 years. Greece have won this cup for gods sake. I am quite sure that England will NOT win the next World Cup and it is very possible not win in YOUR life time and it should not be possible to say that. Giving Southgate a knighthood is actually rewarding defeat. These players earn more in a week than the average fan can save in a life time. Something is very wrong somewhere.

@@julioantoniogonzalezmartin8224 Regardless Spain is not a problem alone the problem is all the other nations England struggle against from before 1966 up to today . I have known England to beat some of those teams in friendlies but are almost guaranteed to lose in the two main competitive competitions. The glaring contradiction is the fact that the league teams do better than most countries in the old European Cup and the later Champions League Cup but have an awful record in the Nations cup and World Cup.
Let's be honest here. England scumbagged each win all the way to the finals. Southgate football is unimaginative and ugly football. He's not the type who leads to greatness. If we ever win anything with Southgate it will happen despite and not because of his efforts.
Spain is the best
we lost because of the system we played (robotic) and the manager / no flair and kane was a passenger .
They lost to a better team - period. They were NOT as good as they thought. Eriksson and Capello were capable managers with Owen, Lampard, Beckham, Scholes in their team. Yet, they still couldn't win. Back-to-back Euro finals, imagine the expectations for any manager taking over Southgate. It's just not realistic.

England played terrible football, the whole world could see that. They were lucky to play against teams like Serbia ,Slovakia and Switzerland which beat with difficulty.
England fluked their way rather than played their way to the final anyway, and what was wrong with Kane, he appeared lethargic with little interest in doing anything, not a bit of wonder he was pulled off by Southgate.
