I've been telling people that since the 70's. I'm glad to see someone else express that. Some day people all over are going to recognize him as the great poet.
@@JuanYNhilka when he's gone people will truly understand his impact. He's already an icon but like many, age and hanging on past his best (don't get me wrong - he still writes some cracking tunes) has taken focus away from the giant he was in his peak decades. I dread the days when people like him pass away but also know there will be a global outpouring of love and memory. Dylan and McCartney will both hit me in the heart espeically and I'm only 34. I can barely imagine the decade long impact them and their like have had on people listening to their music since the 60's. I have a theory that since celebrity culture really only kicked off in the 50's/60's that those hosts of stars are approaching their 80's and 90's and whoever hasn't died younger will be lining up. Remember the year Prince and Bowie died? I can predict that but worse being on the horizon. Handfuls of beloved entertainers no longer with us.
@@kevtb874 I'm one of those that has been listening to Dylan since the 60's, and even though I am obviously biased since I'm close to his generation, he stands out in the crowd. To me there is a poetic aspect to his songs that few songs have, and as you know that was noticed by lots of college professors of English. He will certainly go down in history as one of the greatest song writers, but when will people realize that he is one of the greatest poets ever. I think a lot of present day poets don't even realize that a great poet has been among them. One exception, I college an Argentine poet (Facundo Cabral) visited our Spanish class at the invitation of the professor, and the only thing I knew about poetry was Dylan. I asked him if he thought Dylan was a poet, and he was very familiar with Dylan as a poet. He praised Dylan's songs (as poetry), and I thought, "and this from an Argentine". That was in the 70's and back then Dylan wasn't really main stream. That confirmed it to me that Dylan really is a poet. That Argentine poet was already world famous in the Spanish speaking world when I met him, but I didn't realize it at the time. I only learned of his fame decades later on hearing of his death.
I am 60 years old and have listened to His musi for 40 year's. Had a nasty little habit with opiates, and it says exactly what I would written if I could have. Who else could, no one. Words like, confession, despair, dying, etc, etc. These lyrics would have same effect on anyone going through any trauma in their lives. No matter what it is, or how big or small small. Any problem is a problem to the individual . What a piece of work . There is not a word to describe how good this song is.😢😊
The only Dylan song I can think of where we’re out of the darkness, looking around at the world anew and suddenly the world makes sense and is whole again.
listened to this album on tape driving from UK to Southern France in the early 80's. And back again. I was in my young twenties now 64. Memories that last a lifetime.
In the time of my confession, in the hour of my deepest need when the pool of tears beneath my feet flood every newborn seed there's a dyin' voice within me reaching out somewhere toiling in the danger and in the morals of despair Don't have the inclination to look back on any mistake like Cain, I now behold this chain of events that I must break in the fury of the moment I can see the Master's hand in every leaf that trembles and in every grain of sand Ooh, the flowers of indulgence and the weeds of yesteryear like criminals, they have choked the breath of conscience and good cheer the sun beat down upon the steps of time to light the way to ease the pain of idleness and the memory of decay I gaze into the doorway of temptation's angry flame and every time I pass that way I always hear my name then onward in my journey I come to understand that every hair is numbered like every grain of sand I have gone from rags to riches in the sorrow of the night in the violence of a summer's dream, in the chill of a wintry light in the bitter dance of loneliness fading into space in the broken mirror of innocence on each forgotten face I hear the ancient footsteps like the motion of the sea sometimes I turn there's someone there other times it's only me I am hanging in the balance of a perfect finished plan like every sparrow falling, like every grain of sand

Dear Peter: I also am 76 years old and and have been an ardent admirer of Bob Dylan's work since the 60's. Imagine my astonishment when Slow Train came out and I discovered that my hero had embraced the faith that I confess. I'm not interested in argument or speculation as to his current commitment but the fact that he still sings these songs is enough for me. So, from one fan to another , my earnest desire and prayer to God is that when I reach the great song fest in eternity that Bob and I and you will be there to sing praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus who looks in love on the unlovely and unloved when we confess His name.
Yes. It's a pity that more people haven't heard it.
@@JuanYNhilka Well, he received the Nobel prize for literature. So much for recognition.

Ja
The only Dylan song I can think of where we’re out of the darkness, looking around at the world anew and suddenly the world makes sense and is whole again.
Beautiful, harmonica is haunting
listened to this album on tape driving from UK to Southern France in the early 80's. And back again. I was in my young twenties now 64. Memories that last a lifetime.
I couldn't stop listening to this album at that time also. With MTV and all the new techno music coming out at the time, I felt I was the only one.
I feel like this song matches the essence of the show excellently.
Yep.

@@KakaPratamaCH No, the other recent popular media which uses this song.
@@jaxtvgaming228 trying to be sarcastic???😐
@@kaushikr8133 Not in the slightest (possibly)
Played at Johnny Cash's funeral. No greater tribute...
And to be played at mine, along with 'Forever Young' for my daughter and grandson.
And also at Steve Jobs’ funeral
How do you know that? Hope it was ‘cause what a love song! To Mr. Cash.
I feel Johnny Cash would've been better sent off with Highway Man. His part in that song brings tears to my eyes.
Big thanks for that information, really interesting to hear. Great Bob Dylan song, and a really great tribute to Johnny Cash.
'Hanging in the balance of the reality of man'
He paints the way of salvation - humility - grace - Jesus !
Love Dylan so much for all of his work , great , original and autentic guy 😊
This is one of his best Christian Music songs and he's done a lot of good ones!
Each time my ears hear this, the sound of angels, I am briefly in heaven. Namaste
In the time of my confession,
in the hour of my deepest need
when the pool of tears beneath my feet
flood every newborn seed
there's a dyin' voice within me
reaching out somewhere
toiling in the danger and
in the morals of despair
Don't have the inclination to look back on any mistake
like Cain, I now behold this chain of events
that I must break
in the fury of the moment I can see the Master's hand
in every leaf that trembles and
in every grain of sand
Ooh, the flowers of indulgence
and the weeds of yesteryear
like criminals, they have choked
the breath of conscience and good cheer
the sun beat down upon the steps of time to light the way
to ease the pain of idleness and the memory of decay
I gaze into the doorway of temptation's angry flame
and every time I pass that way
I always hear my name
then onward in my journey I come to understand
that every hair is numbered like every grain of sand
I have gone from rags to riches
in the sorrow of the night
in the violence of a summer's dream,
in the chill of a wintry light
in the bitter dance of loneliness
fading into space
in the broken mirror of innocence
on each forgotten face
I hear the ancient footsteps like the motion of the sea
sometimes I turn there's someone there
other times it's only me
I am hanging in the balance of
a perfect finished plan
like every sparrow falling,
like every grain of sand
I think you have a few errors 😊
Thank you
The best of Dylan …. ! Superior lyrics and harmonica
So beautiful. Being at the cross as we travel through life to His Glory.

@@Bryanadamsmusicinc yes numerous times. It was a great moments .
Without doubt, this song is divinely inspired and brings the loving healing incandescent spirit so deep into my heart and mind and soul. Deep gratitude and thank you for still singing this masterpiece in your shows.
What a journey his mind has been on for 80 some years. To see what he sees must be truly amazing. The degree of understanding, the soul deep in him and the endless beautiful words whirling around inside of him must be have been so moving to know him. Truly know him.
I think you put it better than anyone has. Thank you for your insight also
For my money, this is the best song Dylan ever made. The rehearsal take from "Trouble No More" is a triumph, beating the album take in vocal delivery - although the album take has that magnificent piano line.
AGREE!
For an lifelong atheist like me this is the closest I can come to spirituality.
THANK you, Bob!
Agree it the best

👍
It’s all about opinions, and this song has an indisputably great lyric, but Dylan has composed dozens better.
@@smfvmd Really? Dozens? What are 24 Dylan songs with superior lyrics to "Every Grain of Sand"?
this epic song alone, by itslf, makes this album one of the greatest Bob has ever cut.
This song is considered his best. Hard to believe with all his great songs but one of my favorites for sure.
just love the harmonica. blowing out his soul.
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
One of Bob Dylan's best songs...IMO...at least...one of my favorites. An Instant Classic. Thank you, Bob Dylan. His music has helped me get through a lot of dark times in my life.
Thank you Bob

Truly beautiful.
Powerful song to this day. Be a fitting song to add in a funeral.
Moooooon Kniiiiiiiiight!
I can't wait to hear this tonight in KC...today will be my 10th Dylan show!!
Sincerely. P. W.
Well spoken @paulward3566...Dylan obviously had a "supernatural encounter" which gave him the these amazing gifts he has freely shared & blessed the rest of us!
