i live in a small island called shetland (off the north coast of scotland) and normally life here is pretty dull, however one of the great highlights of it was when OCS played an acoustic set here, due to the size of the place the largets venue for them held only 300 people, i truly feel priveliged to have had that experience. Absolutely fantastic...
They have so many good songs that folks like me, now in their middle thirties often look back upon and want to reclaim that youth! Oh yes, I was young in the 90's and despite all the struggles, that was my decade! To whoever put this up, thank you.
OCS one of the best Mod Bands ever!! Brilliant songs look and lyrics. My Small Faces and they are still relevant today. Seen them many times. Fantastic memories and finger's crossed many more to come. Simply awesome 🎉❤❤
They aren't one of the best.... they are THE BEST!!! As much as I love oasis the verve and pulp, they just don't come close to Steve and the boys. But that's only my opinion. ❤❤
Yes indeed I am thank you.......and co-incidentally have re-discovered and been listening to Marchin' Already in my car this week.....travelling home from work in the sunshine and counting my blessings :-)
Excellent song by one of the most underated british bands!! Going to use this song for my "first dance" at my wedding next year... perfect! OCS, OCS, OCS
PP Arnold is officially my favourite female black vocalist now, I Heard her live with Roger Waters singing Perfect Sense, and she moved me almost to tears singing that, I've never been moved like that before by a Voice, such a beautiful woman, back in the days of first cut is the deepest especially 😍
Doesn’t matter how old this song is , It’s such a powerful and meaningfull song OCS , they never get old their songs like a fine bottle of wine mature with age ❤️
Thank you so much Graham. Really kind of you to say. I'm truly touched by all the 'thumbs up' and the response to my little post from the throes of my chemical nightmares. And thanks to OCS for bringing light into the darkness always. Very best wishes to you all. Rhian :-)
yes. ocean colour scene has done so much for me over the years. marchin already is so special to me. i use to listen to it every day. hard to explain to some people though why music can do so much
That's really kind of you......happily recovering well now after chemo and radiotherapy.....'Beautiful Thing' will forever be my chemo anthem though.....and hoping now to be able to see Simon and Co live again before long. Sleep well my friend :-)
Came through after listening tin solder by small faces. Obviously this is one of greatest performance of mod. I don't know why but i feel proud of me when listening to this. Thank you for sharing this and thank you ocs and arnold.
Only really started listeneng to ocs last year. Can't believe I missed out on them in the 90's - they are brilliant, can't stop listening to the greatest hits album.
@@annetteforeman8060 she's been around from the 60s and I just seen her name on a video where Ginger Baker rated her single and I thought "I've heard that name before"...
What a night on Thursday lost my voice but more than worth it... To start the night with the riverboat song was just fantastic.. Bring on the barrowlands
Yes thank you :-) First check up in two weeks but things are looking good. Thank you for the message, really appreciate it. And it gives me excuse (as if I need one) to listen to 'Beautiful Thing' and have it ringing in my ears as I get off to sleep (soon hopefully). Good night xx
Trying to picture the pre-production meeting for this video: "Yeah, we'll have it in a barn" "Yeah" "Farming, no one has ever done rock and roll from that angle!" "Yeah, yeah, yeah!" "Lets put the drums on a big pile of haystacks" "That sounds like the best idea I've heard all year!" A lot of coke was done at that meeting...
I saw them live at colston hall in Bristol about 4 years ago and they were amazing. Think now the same as i thought then 'how much I miss the 90's'. Now i know how my parents felt going on about the 70's and im only 27. lol
this type of music is usually not my thing! however i remember coming back from a year in australia in november 1997 and my friend played this for me on vhs video, i liked it then and its taken me 13yrs to find it again cos i didnt know the name of the band/song, i only new the vidoe was in a barn, i found it by accident on utube 1 week ago and carnt stop playing it. this tune is off the scale! FAB and i love it.
Thank you so much for your kind thought. All treatment finished last month so hoping for good results in next couple of months :-) And still loving this song.....
Without a shadow of a doubt my favourite band of the 90's...and also in my top favourite 5 bands of all time...I quite like the fact that they have never achieved the status of the likes of oasis etc...although they really should have!
I think they're rated pretty highly. What I don't get is why, although they were hugely successful in Britain in the late 1990s, they never seemed to take off outside Britain (and Ireland, and I think they were pretty popular in Japan). But I would've thought they would've sold masses of records in the States and continental Europe. On the other hand, massive success in the States can be the creative kiss of death for great British bands. And they probably earned enough money to set them up comfortably, without all the insanity of living in mansions with servants and so on, addling their brains with never-ending supplies of drugs etc. They seem to have remained very grounded, which is great. I also like the fact that they seem to genuinely like each other and get on well an be committed to keeping OCS going as long as they can walk, as Simon Fowler recently put it. What I find most compelling about them is that they are remarkably talented and yet just regular blokes; it never went to their heads. Shows a lot of character on their part.
Everytime i listen to this track it gets better, its the end of the 90's and i'm stuck in a student bedsit with a view out onto a brick wall and my ocs collection.
I thought that female singer sounded familiar. That's P.P. Arnold, who did vocals on Roger Waters's "Amused to Death" album, as well as accompany him on his tours (among other things).
@TheHazzainthehouse Hi, Thie is a duet with PP Arnold and not a cover mate, OCS wrote this one sounds like its been around forever tho..Top Tune..Top Band..and PP Arnold is always great.
What a beautiful song, Ocean Colour Scene are an amazing band and also a fairly underrated band to be fair
One of the best bands that come out of the 90’s seen them over a dozen times , and wen they tour I’ll still go to see them 👌👌

Great harmonising. Love both of their voices. Great song. Great band

thankyou tony and youtube for letting me revisit my youth
It's a beautiful thing! First band I ever saw... OCS.
People have forgotten what it was like to save up for a single or more likely album. Music is so obvious these days. X
this is one of those types of songs for me to. its got so much depth to it. i love it so much
cool song, simon fowler has such a distinct sounding voice, good stuff :) thanks for uploading.
Thank you so much Graham. Really kind of you to say.

Back in the charts '2024 where this song belongs 🎉
Love this song as much as I did when I was teenager and it first came out.
all good thank you......and still loving this song......bitter sweet memories but mostly sweet now thank you xx
I loved all the bands of that era, but this one stood above them all for me, amazing talent & beautiful songwriting
Exactly the same for me mate. I was into all the 90s bands but ocs have something else about them
AWESOME song - Ocean Colour Scene...takes me back to the 90's!
Such a unique distinctive voice. Amazing
PP Arnold, what a voice!!
A music icon .

They are still the best thing to have come out of the 90s. Love love love it.
Yes thank you :-) First check up in two weeks but things are looking good. Thank you for the message, really appreciate it. And it gives me excuse (as if I need one) to listen to 'Beautiful Thing' and have it ringing in my ears as I get off to sleep (soon hopefully). Good night xx
one of the best bands of all time, and yet so under-rated......its a crime that these guys were not bigger than oasis and blur
Beautiful song!
PP Arnold inspired me to sing again after losing my voice. xx
First time hearing this today, how did I miss this.?
never herd of this song or band befor. gotta love the ol POWER ballads
Steve Marriott new talent pp arnold sang with small faces on a track. She is still amazing and ocs for me are the greatest band of the 90s and today
Was just watching the Tin Soldier video as it happens and then wondered if this was perhaps the same lady, given the whole mod connection etc. 👌🏻🙂
Trying to picture the pre-production meeting for this video:
"Yeah, we'll have it in a barn"
"Yeah"

True masterpiece of a song.
Ocean Colour Scene - the Kinks for a new generation. Pat Arnold. PP Arnold for a new generation.

Just seen this. That's brilliant news! Stay strong. xx
one of my all time favourites, shocked at how few views it has had!!
Everytime i listen to this track it gets better, its the end of the 90's and i'm stuck in a student bedsit with a view out onto a brick wall and my ocs collection.
this sexy tune is CLASS..
the chorus of this song is describing life.
why am i looking them up on you yube when i haven't woren the cd out when i bought it in 95 even though it's been played hundreds of times!
@CyfiawnderToTheMaw all the best to you its amazing how something as simple as music can mean and feel so much to us
Sometimes the words speak for themselves "ooh it's a beautiful thing"
which backing bit did she do?
the beautiful, lovely im all for it bit?
Ms Arnold's got some pipes on her. Stuff she's done with Roger Waters is as much of an aural and emotional roller coaster too Sir.
I thought that female singer sounded familiar. That's P.P. Arnold, who did vocals on Roger Waters's "Amused to Death" album, as well as accompany him on his tours (among other things).
cant wat til they tour in jan!
2020 still hitting the spot!
Marchin Already was awesome for videos
Amazing song
the 90s ruled!!!
For this type I would suggest B-Sides,Seasides & Freerides (1997). There are some brilliant songs on this album.
Brilliant song. Thats all I can say.
Going to see them in Glasgow on thursday
I'm in love with this song...
jst amazin bring on jan tue the 26 glasgow barrowlands jst the best place 4 a gig xox
This reminds me of being 17 and no cares in the world. 28 now with 2 kids and too many cares. Bring back the 90's.
feb 22nd!- cant wait
Shame is they were brilliant, should have had more recognition. Can't believe PP Arnold is from the sixties, ex Ikette!
@TheHazzainthehouse Hi, Thie is a duet with PP Arnold and not a cover mate, OCS wrote this one sounds like its been around forever tho..Top Tune..Top Band..and PP Arnold is always great.
