I felt that having Fred Durst playing himself in a supporting role was a reference to "Zombieland" and Bill Murray. The nostalgic elements were fun, but it felt like wasted potential.
I was 15 then, and I heard about some issues that may happen, but obviously, none of them came to pass.
It was the best new year celebration I've seen though
I was only a year old in 1999, so I have BARELY any memories of the late 90's. I could honestly watch this cast in a straight coming of age story, minus the horror disaster elements.
I feel that!
A movie in a time without iphones. Good times
I was 32. Lol. I remember that absolutely nothing dramatic happened. I don't remember anyone I knew being fearful. I do remember people arguing about if 2000 years happened at 2000 or 2001. It was a silly time that sold a few more newspapers. Still, I'd probably watch this just for a laugh.
Did anyone notice the scene at the video store had "Mr. Deeds" on a shelf which was released in 2002
Hahaha I did not
I totally agree! Best part was all the nostalgia for me with the music, movie rental places, and internet aspect especially ❤️ but I didn’t love it but didn’t hate it :)
This feels more like a Blumhouse movie than an A24 movie
Yep
I agree completely! I remember being 5 during that time and the world was just as I remembered. I felt the nostalgia was great, the downside is I felt it should have been more realistic and Danny was the best character in there who should have been utilized more! :D
Well, I was just 14, so I didn't know much about this... But I'm still sad about the missed potential.
14 was fun
Not a care in the world haha
I remember Y2K. I was a middle schooler, me and my mom were walking through the grocery store. Looking back, it was funny. Because my mom was just calmly buying the usual stuff off the shelves, while other people were freaking out, rushing inside and buying up cans and water 😂
I asked my mom if she was worried, and my mom just calmly responded “no hon, I’ve lived through worse, and ain’t nothing gonna happen”.
I was 6. All I remember is hating school and being bullied. I was mad dumb. But I also had amazing parents who let me do what I love - watching movies and playing videogames. I also remember hearing things like we'd be living in space by 2001 and have flying cars and robots. Pretty sure I started saving for a real-life R2D2.
The Simpsons Halloween already did this.
You said it better than me! I really wanted to love this, I was 11 in 1999 and I remember the fear combined with excitement for a new millennium, but this movie didn’t capture much of anything! The humor NEVER landed for me, the horror NEVER worked and the sci-fi elements were sloppy. I really didn’t find much of anything to like here, really disappointed. The best characters die pretty much FIRST!
Review Interstellar again since it seems like that’s the movie of the weekend.🙏
Its da best
@ it truly is, saw it last night and was bawling my eyes out for hours
I was a teen during Y2K and my sister happened to see a rocket or meteorite in the sky that night. She thought for sure it was a nuke targeting our local town and then broke down crying in terror. We all laughed and tried to calm her down. 😅
Plot twist: she was right and you’re in a simulation.
I was 20 and my dad worked for the creators of JAVA. Big computer company. He and his team were required to be there on New Years Eve and stay until they either knew it would be ok or until 1999 turned 0000 and ruined the world !!!! That year sucked.
Oh...
Review "Better Watch Out" from 2016 for a Christmas horror
Austin - Are You Going To Do A Christmas Live Stream?
I’m gonna do one soon!
I was in 4th grade . This is historically 100% accurate .
Honestly, I enjoyed the movie because it was exactly what I expected or a little more. I went in thinking I wasn't going to laugh once, and just a whole lot of outdated references. It was decent. If I never watched it again, I would be ok with that. If I had to watch it again, it wouldn't bother me at all
I wasn't even born when Y2K happened
Haha
Another fantastic video! Thanks
The fact I had a free ticket and didn’t go says everything and I frequent the theatre, I’m an AA24 member like I love the movies and artistry they put out but man this year has definitely been meh for them I have to do admit unless December hits a 360 idk
Why didn't you watch it?
@ it was a late showing and I honestly got too stoned, had every intention to see it but idk A24 been swinging and missing lately
@@ethanmyers4882 Just watch the movie. Don't listen to these reviews. Make your own judgment.
@@jesseowenvillamor6348 after hearing how there was another version I kinda just was disgusted, how many times can a studio single handedly ruin a movie? Why even hire a director if they going to do it how they want in the end anyway?
@@ethanmyers4882 Just watch the damn movie.
Only one strong character and he disappears in the beginning film. Fred Durst cameo would have been cool but wasted potential.
All these grown guys hating on some 20 something year old girl is wild
Wish the Wayne brothers Directed and wrote this.
Will you be reviewing Werewolves?
May not have time this weekend sadly
I had fun and that’s all that matters for me
Exactly. People are overanalyzing it. It was silly, fun, and a nostalgic reminder of a time I enjoyed much more (I'm 32)
I was also born in 1995! lol
"Rachel Zegler’s latest film, Y2K, is crashing and burning at the box office, looking to open to a lackluster $2.1 million (hopefully) and earning a dismal “C-” CinemaScore, which is horrible."
#ZeglerEffect
Wasn’t Fred durst in long legs
I was 2
This is hands down one of the worst movies of the year. It even makes Red One seem competent in comparison.
Waiting for nothing to happen. I was right.
iss ok. i was 5 too. this movie was trash imo. i ended up turning it off about half way through
this was absolutely the most stupid idiotic and terrible movie I have everrrrrrrrrrrrrr seen
I was 5 years old as well! I'm a HUGE movie enthusiast/lover especially horror movies, aspiring business owner and actress/thespian. I've already watched 58 movie releases in the movie theater this year including Y2K. I had a fun time with this movie and it was nostalgic for me! ❤❤❤❤🎬🎥🎟️🎞️🍿🥤
No way. Because I was also 5 back then ! and get this I've been to the movies 58 times this year.
I was 6 months old lol
Zegler is the baddest baddie to ever bad a baddie.
She sucks
Wasn't a big deal then even less now who cares
This is bodies bodies bodies annoying little bro
Lol
@ imagine if it was actual millennials being thrusted back into y2k as adults having to go through this
Someone finally did it.Rachel Zegler broke A24.
Yes, blame the actress who didn’t write or direct the movie. Who broke into the film industry in a highly acclaimed Best Picture-nominated movie for which she won countless awards including a Golden Globe. Pathetic how yall haters come for Rachel when she is faultless and yall are just jealous of a successful young woman.
And A24 has had multiple movies with mid reviews this year like heretic. This is hardly the first.
@@supercutsupremacy6633 OK. I WILL..LOL
@@supercutsupremacy6633 Heretic? Everybody liked that.
@@supercutsupremacy6633”she is faultless” girl hasn’t had a single box office hit yet…told over half of the US that they’re garbage…then you wonder why people don’t wanna go see her movies? Even before she made the trump comments, she was shitting on the original Snow White movie despite the fact it’s more well regarded and profitable than all of her movies.
She joined in one the hate train against Gina Carano so clearly doesn’t mind throwing shit over peoples way. She also got her fans to attack Jeremy renner calling him every name under the sun. She’s not a nice person and her ego far outweighs her talent.
You can’t just say that Rachel is being hated on for no reason. She talks about oppression and how tough it is for her cos she’s Latina…she went to private school, her dad is rich af and she got planted in Hollywood with minimal effort.
