    For rucking heavy weight you really need a pack with a frame and an integrated waist belt to distribute the weight properly. I purchased a Gregory 30L. Great pack with a lifetime guarantee. Too many guys blowing out their lower back rucking without a proper pack.

    • @Levi.Jaeckel
      @Levi.Jaeckel  2 года назад

      Totally agree that a frame makes a huge difference. I think that would be an essential training tool for a real-life event like a hunt, hike, camp. I don’t ever go over 50lbs - mostly because I’m not sure it’s practical to load up more than that for a general training reason. I’ll check out Gregory for their framed packs tho!

    Great video, very helpful. I think I will be getting the plate carrier first. Starting off I will be doing a lot more running/ jogging with occasional hill sprints. Most likely after 3 to 4 weeks I will start doing ruck marches. I will definitely be getting the Rucker 3.0 for that.

      Thanks for tuning in, glad you found some insight. I think you’ve got a good plan. Even if you eventually pick up the Rucker you’ll still find a lot of use for the RPC.

    Fantastic video and what I was looking for; some advice on where each option excels.
    Even still, my use is 4 mile walks over fairly level ground (been using an old backpack with free weights) so the Rucker seems obvious, but the Plate Carrier appeals due to minimal design and free movement allowance, so I’m still not sure which way to go.

    Would you suggest the Rucker if Im not using the ruck plates im using standard gym plates which may not fit inside the ruck pocket or would it just be best to get a different model that doesn’t have the pouch? Im from outside the United States and ordering weights to Australia would be very expensive, thanks

    Hi there. Huge Huge Fan of You. Question for you: I'm lookingat the plate carrier for outdoor use as I live is super hot climate (Floridaesque). Would a plate carrer work or should I stick with my rucker 3? Also would you recommend the Plate Carrier 3.0 or would the 2.0 be good enough. Thanks

    • @Levi.Jaeckel
      @Levi.Jaeckel  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comment! I love both of these, the Plate Carrier is very convenient. And, right now they are running a special price on the bundle (included weight). I don't think you can beat that value. Also, from what I see, there isn't much change between the 3.0 and 2.0 other than they added a handle on the top? From my experience, it's easy enough to just grab a shoulder strap haha. I love the 2.0. Here's the bundle link - goruck.go2cloud.org/SH36L

    Love this video and have been trying to make a decision between Rucker 3.0 25l or RPC 45lb (so I can use the generic amazon plates).I will only be rucking or doing functional work with this. I'm worried I will have too much bulk with the Rucker 3.0 as I will only have plates in it.

    • @Levi.Jaeckel
      @Levi.Jaeckel  2 года назад +1

      If you are worried about the 3.0 feeling bulky while it’s on your back, don’t. If it’s only loaded up with plates it feels more streamlined than it may look. It is more bulky to store, though. If you are considering doing longer rucks the ability to pack a water bladder inside the 3.0 is also very convenient and it doesn’t add much depth to the pack.

    Just discovered this video, and it was very helpful. I'm trying to decide between these 2 packs, and your explanation was the only one I could find on the internet which really defines the best use cases. I want to hike with weight, so I think I'll go with the Ruck 3.0. Do you have an affiliate link I could use? Thanks again. John.

    Levi... my first time watching. Excellent video. ... So let me ask your opinion, if I wanted to add a '5 POUND WEIGHT' to my Rucker 3.0 (sometimes we don't want to jump up by 10 pounds at a time, instead, going gradually with 5 pounds), what would you suggest? ... Last time I checked GORUCK does not make a 5 pound plate. ... Thank you.

    • @Levi.Jaeckel
      @Levi.Jaeckel  Год назад +1

      Glad you checked out the video! 5lb increments is a good idea, there is certainly a use for them. Personally, I would go the most cost effective option as possible for a 5lb weight. You could order this on Amazon for $10 or you could probably find it even cheaper on Marketplace. I used old school, rusted iron 10lb plates for a long time. amzn.to/423HPgb

      Goruck makes kettlebells that you fill with sand, tune the weight up to the capacity of the bag - the largest is 20kg or 44 pounds

    What weight and distance do you like to Ruck? How many more calories do you feel it gives you vs walking?

  • @NoBSBeardReviews

    Great video, I've been using a backpack with a 20 - 30 lb kettlebell in it the last few 3 mile walks around my neighborhood to increase the intensity of the walks. I'd like to upgrade to something where the weight sits higher on my back. I'd also like to start using it in some of my HIIT workouts. Would you recommend the plate carrier or something like Bullet Rucker 15L or even the Rucker 25L you have for carrying 20-45lbs? I won't be bringing anything with me during my walks like a water bottle which has me leaning towards the plate carrier. Thoughts and recommendations?

    • @Levi.Jaeckel
      @Levi.Jaeckel  Год назад

      Thanks for tuning in man! The Plate Carrier is great and would get the weight up higher on your back. The Bullet is an interesting thought tho too, maybe just slightly more versatility if you ended up needing that down the road? I haven’t personally used the Bullet but I’m confident it’s a great product too

      I actually just realized the Bullet Rucker is part of their Black Friday Sale. That may be the move at that price point. goruck.go2cloud.org/SH3Pr

      @NoBSBeardReviews Год назад +1

      @@Levi.Jaeckel yeah, leaning towards that one. The price plus I could use the Yes4all plates. Do you think there would be a noticeable difference in the Rucker 15L using the longer style plates sitting lower on the back vs a Rucker 4.0 20L using the standard plates sitting higher on your back? I would imagine the plate placement of the 20L would be similar to the plate carrier.

      I’ve done Chad twice in the Rucker. And, I’ve had a handful of my training clients complete Chad with the Ruck Plate Carrier. For that workout specifically, I don’t think there’s a big difference.

    how does the plate carrier 3.0 fair against running, worried about the bounce? Or should i invest in their weight vest? Thanks, for your information.

    • @Levi.Jaeckel
      @Levi.Jaeckel  2 года назад

      Hey man, thanks for the question. I don’t run with the plate carrier very often, but it’s got a little movement to it. You can crank those straps down pretty tight which helps.
      Historically I’ve really enjoyed using the plate carrier. Recently, I’ve considered getting the vest too just so I can have a true comparison. I can keep you posted!

    Hey I messaged you on your other video about pros/cons between these two. Nice video short and to the point! Do you think by wearing the plate carrier all day even when just doing things around the house or when sitting at work - will also help straighten my posture too? Also, what size would you suggest? ‘5”10 172lbs standard size?

    • @Levi.Jaeckel
      @Levi.Jaeckel  2 года назад

      Standard size should be perfect. Mine is standard and fits fine, I’m at 6’ 2” and don’t have any issues. I know people that will wear the ruck while they are doing household chores - cleaning up, mowing, etc. I think that’s a good way to sneak in some training demand. But, I don’t know what kind of benefit sitting will have? I personally haven’t tried that, but sitting with load for an extended period of time may not be the most effective for postural change? I’d use your movement time as training and your sitting time as a natural “practice.” Sitting with good posture will be tough enough without load if that’s something you struggle with.

    Question I'm getting the goruck 3.0 plate carrier, which plates outside of goruck can actually fit into the actual carrier because I'm trying to save money getting the 20 to 30 pounds plates

    • @jxg5448
      @jxg5448 Год назад

      I know this is an old comment but, I recently got the 3.0 plate carrier and a goruck 30 pound plate. However, I wanted to start with 20 pounds and work up to 30 pounds. Two 10 pound dumbbell plates fit nice and snug, just put something like a rolled up t-shirt at the top to take up the extra room and keep the plates from shifting too much. After I got used to that, I was able to slide in an additional 5 pound plate. That's where I'm at now. When I'm ready, I'll ditch the dumbbell plates and use the goruck 30 pounder.

    Would the rpc be good for training for army ruck marches ?

    • @Levi.Jaeckel
      @Levi.Jaeckel  Год назад +2

      It's a good start, and you'll be able to use it for some of your other training requirements. But, I also believe the army ruck marches will eventually be heavier than the RPC will allow. At some point you'll probably need a true ruck to prepare for those higher loads.

    As a petite woman, I’m looking to start with only a 10-lb plate with the plate carrier. But the website only mentions 20 and 30lb plates. Do the 10lb plates not fit? Do any generic 10lb plates fit, such as one from Amazon?

    • @Levi.Jaeckel
      @Levi.Jaeckel  Год назад

      That’s a good question, but I believe the generic 10lb plates DO fit in the plate carrier. There may be a little extra room, but just stuff a towel in the pack to fill up extra space.
