HP Laserjet 1012 Installation on Windows 7

This is a short video we put together to help install older LaserJet 1012 printers on a Windows 7 operating system. This should work for either Windows 7 32bit or 64bit.
Our understanding is that HP released several models of printers that had the same 'guts' but never intended for the older models to work on newer operating systems. So in this video we use an HP LJ3055 driver to make the 1012 work. This method may work, but has not been tested by us, with other older model Laserjet printers.
DISCLAIMER: This has been tested internally on our Dell machines, on Windows 7 environments. We cannot be held responsible for any damage you cause by attempting other repairs. We have not tested this fix on Windows 8 or 10.

We have noticed an issue over the years with an 'unsupported personality' error cropping up from time to time. It seems to be the price we pay for using the 'incorrect' driver on this printer. What we have found is that power cycling (unplugging and plugging back in) the printer seems to at least temporarily clear the issue. It almost always comes back, but at least the printers keep working for the most part. Sorry we don't have a better solution to that problem.

Thanks! This allowed me to continue to use my current windows 7 laptop that i got free from a friend, along with an old printer that someone else gave me also for free, otherwise it would not connect. The unsupported personality has been an issue, but the unplugging and replugging works fine!
